Out-Of-Character:

-Minecraft Account Name:

vulcus

-How old are you?: I would be 19, born in the month of February.

-Time-Zone/Country of Residence: I'm currently in PST (California), with my current location being in the United States.

-Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: It would appear as though it's hard to be humble with this question, but it would certainly be an honour to consider myself a proper user of the language. I'm not necessarily adept with many foreign languages, however.

-Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:

I'm currently an engineering student on the west coast of the United States, with an interest in sandbox or physics games (which I suppose is what drew me to become an engineer, haha). With that at mind, I started playing minecraft, and, though prior to minecraft, roleplaying; to be fair, I've been looking for a genuine minecraft roleplay server for well over a year.

-How much time could you be on the server weekly?:

Whenever I'm not at class (which ranges from around 3-4 hours every other day), or studying or something, I'm available for roleplay on the server, honestly.

-How long have you played minecraft?:

I found out about Minecraft when it was still (only) in Creative mode in the spring of 2010, and several months later I purchased the premium version, and have been playing it on and off ever since.

-What do you know about roleplaying?:

Roleplaying is the acceptation of a role in a fictional-hosted environment, with you taking on the reins of a character that you alone design and create and send off into the game world. Various laws and rules keep roleplay moving steadily, as such to prevent various problems such as metagaming, powergaming, and so on.

-What do you expect this server will be like?:

I tend to refrain from having high expectations of a community before actually joining, though, judging from the presented efficiency and professionalism, I could say that I expect a decent roleplaying userbase that respects the basic rules of roleplay (such as metagaming, powergaming, etc) and generally has open arms toward newcomers, and is willing to introduce said newcomers into the very world the lore takes place in.

-What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:

I was a member of Herocraft for a short time. Though indeed that community (and my apologies if I seem to be disparaging at all here) presents itself as a server with various RPG plugins, in my opinion solely, the quality of any actual roleplay was low.

-Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:

Yes, and I fully understand the consequences of the fracture of any given rules.

-Name the 4 races on this server:

Well, first and foremost we have our Humans, next being the mountain-carving Dwarves, afterward being the forest-dwelling Elves, and finally, the warlike tribal race of the Orcs.

-How did you hear about us?:

As I stated far above, I have been searching for a roleplay server such as this for a long time, and am very impressed by the layout. Specifically, I found out via the minecraft forums.

-What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?:

Vulcus

In-Character:

-Character Name: Vulcus Solarius

-What is your Race?: Human, hailing from the smaller, insignificant land of Helusia

-Biography:

From his birth, the circumstances of his future were most definitely not looking bright. Vulcus had been born into a heavily conservative, aristocratic family known in his homeland as the Solarii; they were men, torn at times by greed, and corruption, and by their blood that wept from their wounds when they backstabbed one another. Vulcus' land, too, was plagued by all this, and through the advancement of the Helusians from tribe, to kingdom, and eventually, to republic, countless lives were both taken and lost by its people.

Throughout his childhood, when a sword was not forced into his young, unscatched hands, it was a wheat scythe; the unchanging fact of his family name presiding over his future and fate - Vulcus, from the day he was born, was destine to become a soldier and worker for the state, and as a result (with his homeland being a paternal society), Vulcus held a great bond with his father, who, although, did not die a warrior's death. Vulcus had not become adept with a weapon overnight, in fact, and rigorous dueling was necessary on a near daily basis to ensure mere boys would become great warriors - legionaries - upon their reaching of an older age. So much was expected of Vulcus and his childhood friends that those reconsidered to be unfit for the warrior status were merely disposed of - thrown into the river Heluse, as young as newborn babies and as old as toddlers.

Through many trials, some taken twice, Vulcus moved on, undergoing a life-long youth training, and by his mid-teenaged years, had received adequate training in the art of swordfighting. However, it was not until the very year he would be introduced into the army, by the age of eighteen, precisely, that he was taught true Helusian battle tactics and strategies, and given the knowledge of secret passages through the hills.

All this, however, did not guarantee the invulnerability of Vulcus, and by the age of twenty, he found himself commanding a fort's auxiliary garrison against a great warband of cave-dwelling barbarians, who had assailed the countryside. In his return to Helusia, he brought only news of casualties, and failure. As a result, Vulcus was swiftly 'reassigned' from his previously prestigious position to that of an essential 'desk job', signing scrolls and encouraging recruitment.

After a decade of practicing nothing of which he had prepared for nearly all his life, Vulcus saw his home, his family, and all the wealth of Helusia melted and burned to the ground almost as quickly as it had been forged in a brutal, near-unending civil war taking place by the time Vulcus had reached the age of twenty-eight. The war itself was quite simple: with the junior, intellectual family, the Noxii, controlling the senate, a Solarian general by the name of Servilius Marius gathered several legions and marched on the capital of Heluse, sparking a great war between the rival families. Those who swore to uphold unity within the republic, known internally as the 'exilates' fled the land, and traveled across the seas and through many hills, until their worn boots found their way to the diverse land of Aegis.

Vulcus, along with his fellow exilates, Omus, Vibius, and several others (including his father, whom passed away on the journey), are perhaps the final heirs of a mysterious, otherwordly civilization. Though born to be a leader, Vulcus had few traits identifying himself as such.

-Character Age: Twenty-Eight

-Character Appearance:

Vulcus was visibly an anchored man; broad, and somewhat stocky, moreso than tall and skinny. The first thing one would notice about this man is his abnormal facial features - while not necessarily ugly, he carries an Aquiline nose, which hung low and protruded somewhat. His face carries a slightly visibly greying and unkempt goatee, and his ears are fairly round, and simple. His eyes are a dark-blue-dark-green shade, with thin irises.

On the other hand, Vulcus wore a set of worn, nearly tattered robes without any form of head protection or gear, and, by his declining fortune, clearly unarmed. On his feet were a pair of crude hide boots.

-Character Personality:

The man was relatively, overall, a content man. He seemed to smile at the sound and sight of trees and grass somewhat too much, implying that his assumed position as an intended general (within his own countrymen) did not fit him by any account. Internally, Vulcus seemed to get along fine with his comrades, though, perhaps due to his nationality, seemed suspicious of outsiders, though not immediately hostile.

-Your ambitions:

Vulcus' first and foremost tasks as of now would be to establish lodgings within Aegis, and perhaps a new home for what remains of his people. His future ambitions? Perhaps, re-establish the long-lost republic, where it is we, the people, not kings or monarchs, who rule. On a more local note, it would be most useful if his community could arm themselves with basic weaponry and tools.

-Can your character read or write?:

To a certain extent, yes. I imagine that Helusians have their own writing systems and thus, their own language and script, and as a result would be quite different to those of Aegis. However, being from the same overall region, I think Vulcus should adapt to these new scriptures eventually.

-Can your character mine?:

Most likely not - Vulcus was primarily trained in the ways of the farmer and the swordsman.

-Are you a capable builder?:

My character would most likely not fit this classification, as his opposite family, the Noxii, oversaw most architecture and construction.

-Can you wield a sword?:

By all accounts, yes.

-Enjoy Farming?:

I suppose I could say that I do, given my character's background, and his humble personality.

-Does your character have any special skills?:

My character does not possess any magic (which, at this point, is unknown to the men of Helusia) or special, inhuman abilities, no.

-A screenshot of your skin:

I'll provide small and large versions for the sake of organization (note that it is based off of a preset skin):

-Other Information:

I simply wish to apologize on the extreme length of my application, I honestly don't expect you to want to read all of that, though you have my thanks if you did, haha.

Also, just for clarification: I did talk to NairOG about the Helusian idea, and he said it was fine, so long as we all start from scratch and do not carry any power/authority/prestige into the world.

Thank you for reading my server application, and good day. B)

-Vulcus
