A Young Boy With Lengthy Ears

And so we return

We return to the elf whose sanity slowly slips from grasp

The elf who slowly began to ignore the words of advice from those around him

Perhaps he's finally broken

Perhaps he's finally slipped

Perhaps this is his end

Perhaps this is it

 

His heart runs cold

Colder than ever before

Less expressive than he was in his younger years

The very years where he struggled to understand his feelings

The same years where he decided to part with the feelings he struggled to understand

 

Why was he like this?

What caused him to be this way?

Had it been his own doing?

Or perhaps the doing of the world he lived in?

 

From a studious young elf

To an ice hearted killer of man

Yet he still bore a mask

Many a mask to keep those outside from looking in

 

Perhaps he'd been fooled into believing a mask was truly him

Perhaps this wasn't him and at heart he was still a boy with lengthy ears

A young boy craving his father's approval

A young boy under the guise of being a man

A young boy who held his tears

A young boy who had a great many fears

A young boy who missed those he held most dear

But despite his lengthy ears

The boy could not hear

"Proud of the man I've become?"

"Am I finally worthy of your love?"

"Am I finally worthy of your hate?"

"Am I the elf you always wanted me to be?"
