This is a small project that I am making to reveal diary pages of my latest character Joseph Sarkozic; I will make another post in perhaps a month or two!

Venerable Joseph Clement Sarkozic

Baron of Pompourelia

Duke-Consort of Westmarch

Knight of the Most Ancient and Noble Order of the Lion

Monsignor of Providentia

It was often said that the war we find ourselves in would mean the end of humanity; where the Sons of Horen would fight against each other as relatives fighting in their own household. We have all lost relatives in this war that had been continued by my father in-law Emperor Philip III; some lives of said relatives had been taken way too early then they were supposed to. As for I, while having been enlisted in the Imperial Legion, have participated in the various military operations set out by the late General Erik var Ruthern, the Duke of Reutov & The Count of Kositz. Such operations sometimes resulted in victory and some resulted in fatal losses. Yet, with the mercy of GOD despite victory or loss; I have managed to see the end of this war. No more bloodshed, no more suffering; is what everyone would have wanted during the conquest set by our Emperor. Yet, I can not wipe the blood off the sword that I have slaughtered with.

As far as my family is concerned; I was able to see that Franz Arthur was truly ready to make himself a warrior. Everytime that me and my wife Princess Catherine Anastasia went out for battle; the boy felt the urge to consistently ask us for permission to march into battle with us. And so he did; he marched alongside me and Catherine to the Battle of Eastfleet; which resulted in a defeat. My daughters; Irena Helaine  and Anastasia Odessa often fought against each other; for what reasons? I would not know. They were much like their mother; adventurous and into the world of alchemy; something I never quite understood but thought of as an intriguing occupation.

My brothers and sisters were always different in personality and our ways of life; yet my brother Laurent and cousin Artames were my companions who I grew up with and thus spent a lot of time with in my youth, my adult life and even now around my deathbed.  I might have made decisions in the family that were not to anyone's liking but I have done what I had to do to make us, the House of Sarkozic; a proud and admirable House; and I have no doubt that my son and heir Franz Arthur will succeed in such.

As far as my relatives in the Principality of Savoy are concerned; I have always gone to see my Uncle Borys, Uncle August and Uncle Fiodor who have become a tremendous influence in my life and in the way I have lived my life. During my time in the Margraviate of Lvinsk in my younger years; it had often been said that on my return in the Holy Orenian Empire; I had “taken a piece of Lechia” with me; which almost certainly describes my use of the Lechian language on nearly a daily basis.

My honorary Uncle and Mentor; Tylos II, who was known as Fiodor Jazloviecki showed me the way of life when one welcomes GOD into their life; the teachings that Tylos II told me from a young age always intrigued me and resulted in me visiting the Holy See every day to walk on a path of piety. And to further help my development on such a path; I was bestowed the rank of “Monsignor of Providentia”; to not only help myself but also those around me. My Uncle, Holy Sir August showed me the way of being a combatant for God; and taught me how, if necessary, one should spread His word through the sword. My Uncle Borys was one who had often advised me on how I should lead my family; and what I should do to not create a stain upon the legacy that I was to create.

Surely, when I leave this world; my children will continue the legacy that I have tried to set together with my wife Princess Catherine Anastasia. For I have tried to give whatever I could in such a brief time. And for all of those that I have had in my life; I shall wait for all of you in the Seven Skies.

Adrian Helen had obtained a copy of his older brother's diary, which had mysteriously surfaced after so many years. The Cardinal read the few pages alone in the Sarkozic manor in Vienne. Being allowed to read his brother's diary was truly a blessing, for it only affirmed his beliefs of Joseph.
