Reverence - Community-Humility-Temperance-Industry TABLE OF CONTENTS I - VISION II - OATH III - MEMBERSHIP IV - VESTMENTS V - HIERARCHY & STRUCTURE VI -RITUALS & CUSTOMS VII -AUTHORITY I. oem | VISION The Temple of Malin exists to promote elven ascension and the worship of Malin and his pantheon through adherence to the Five Instructions. The purpose of which is to maintain 'Malin's Mantle', protecting the entirety of creation from consumption by the void. It holds that all descendant races should honor the Elven Pantheon in Malin’or, and it prepares worthy Elves for ascension into it. The Temple answers only to the princely Saneyir, its spiritual leader, who guides both living members and the ascending Numen. Believing every Elf to be an immortal descendant of the King, the Temple fiercely defends Elven interests. While neutral in inter-Elven conflicts, it will intervene decisively if any aggressor threatens Elvenkind. Members of the temple are ascetic warrior-monks, not pacifists, and should endure to be fierce physical combatants. The Temple seeks to establish Chapters throughout Elvendom, protecting Elven Princes and their people from threats from beyond the void and in the mortal plan that would weaken Malin's mantle. The Chorus of Literature (‘The Chorus’) The Chorus is the basis of theological and divine literature that informs the worship, and practice of Malinism. A. The Song of First Light: Creation & Ordering of the World B. The Chords of Malin’s Will: The Way of Malin Spoiler I -oem Reverence / Ahern’leh “For Malin’s children shall revere him, above all else, and shall venerate him as their sole King and Prophet, as well as their progenitor, casting aside all idols and any false prophets.” "Ay Malin’leh Mali’an ehya aherne, ma-tahu lye ehya ah’halere kae ito laurir’leh urthir’leh maln’leh, ehya il’ahe’leh mar’yuln, taline liean ehya elor’anne" Malin’onn should strive to revere their Father. A great and powerful King, diplomat, wielder of powers, negotiator, leader and Father. This is not to say we cannot look to our ancestors and other powers to assist us, but Malin reigns dominant above them! II -niut Community / Lye’leh “For Malin’s children shall act in fraternity to one another, and shall hold their brotherhood before any petty quarrels, organizing into communities in the cooperative interests of their fellowship.” The Children of Malin should strive to live in brotherhood with eachother. Community before the individual always. This applies not only within their local realms, but amongst the Elven Princedoms. The needless waging of war between Elven Princes must come to an end, united at the same table of fraternity. III -hael Humility / Thillne’marenne “For Malin’s children shall reject acts of boast and aggrandizement, as well as temporal entitlement and worldly politics, so as to both refrain from usurping the father and to restore the integrity of elvenkind through his vision.” Of all of the flaws of Malin’s children; it is known that our people suffer greatly from arrogance. This causes many ancient Mali to confound their long lives as equitable to great wisdom. It causes great Princes to lose touch with the reality of their realms, and it is this arrogance that causes Malin’s children to violate his other teachings - pursuing their own greatness over their Fathers. IV -vailu Temperance / Meracahe’sae “For Malin’s children shall temper themselves and refrain from fleshly desires such as greed, carousing and lust, maintaining an ascetic lifestyle, denying degeneracy and depravity so they might preserve their bodies made in his image.” Malin’s children should not alter their bodies with degeneracy. The use of dark powers and the consultation of beings to inhabit an Elven body or mind is a flawed and dangerous premise. The Elven form is in their Father’s image, we should not seek to damage it. This includes the mingling of Mali blood with the other descendants. V -kulin Industry / Irham’sae “For Malin’s children shall be tireless in their industry, remaining perseverent and diligent always, considering all their virtuous pursuits an art whilst pledging to never remain idle or slothful.” Malin’s children must constantly seek to better themselves. An immortal body did not lend itself to an immortal mind. Malin’s teachings reflect lessons learned by the Mali’ame of the Bronze Law, that the mind and the body must be fortified through a constant honing towards improvement. The five instructions shall guide the course towards how all Mali should live their lives. To reject the Father is wholly unnatural to Mali, having only suffered fractures, wars, and disagreements between his people since the first betrayal of Larihei and the great splintering of his people since that time. Adherents to the ‘Way of Malin’ shall continue to strive for the growing bonds of kinship between all of Malin’s children C. The Litany of the Numen: Those who have ascended to Malinor The Cult of Laurir Velulaei‘Ilum The Cult of Eshtael & Tahariae The Cult of Laurir Larihei’Elberun D. The Canticles of Devotion Spoiler Prayer of Morning Devotion (Spoken at sunrise, to begin the day in Malin’s grace) "ah’Malin ito lye saner, ayla ito tayna, maehr ito maehr, kaean’leh evareh karin’ento." Translation: "Blessed Malin, speak upon us. Let goodness fill life, Let wisdom follow wisdom, May it protect our spirit at the coming dawn." Prayer of the Wayfarer (Spoken before travel or pilgrimage) "sirame ito narne, llir’Malinor ito fin, taliiyh ito tuveh, iylanh ito lye." Translation: "Honor walks with me, Friends of Malinor in every land, Place softness beneath our steps, Let the path be ours." The Combat Manual of Disciples II. niut | OATH Elder/Saneyir: “____, who do you know as King? / "Heya kae ito urthir?" Response: "I know no King but Malin" / "Kae ito urthir’ne, ehya Malin" Elder/Saneyir: "We know no King but the one called Malin!" / "Lye ito urthir’ne, ehya Malin!" III. hael | MEMBERSHIP The Brothers and Sisters of the Order of Malin accept any Half-Elf or Elf, of any nation, willing to devote their life to the cause of the Temple, though it is believed only full-blooded Elves may ascend to Malin’or. Elves younger than 30 cannot surpass the rank of Initiate. Upon reaching the rank of Eramir, commitment is for life. The basic requirements for enrollment as an initiate are; At least 18 years old Are an Elf or Half-Elf of any mix. Have taken no oaths that would prevent their ability to serve the order Capable of making an Oath of no less than 8 years. Have no pacts or commitments upon their soul that would prevent ascension. IV. vailu | VESTMENTS INITIATES NONE DISCIPLES ERAMITES ELDERS Members of the Order carry 72-hour field rations, medical and survival gear, as well as a quill, book, and a personal copy of The Way of Malin, all subject to inspection. Initiates wear padded gambesons; from the rank of disciple onward, chainmail is introduced. Armor is accented in bronze to reflect seniority—Eramites and Elders bear more prominent bronzing. Soldiers may also earn bronze accents through exceptional acts of valor in Malin’s name. V. kulin | HIERARCHY & STRUCTURE THE CENTRAL TEMPLE OF MALIN The Order functions as a paramilitary theocracy, where all members are charged not only with service, but with spreading Malin’s teachings. The Central Temple serves as the spiritual and administrative heart—housing relics, doctrine, and worship of Malin. While regional temples may honor other deities within Malin’s pantheon, all must center their devotion on Malin. The Saneyir and ruling conclaves reside within the Central Temple, guiding interpretation of Malin’s Will. CHAPTERS - THE PILGRIM TEMPLES Chapters are the core organizational unit of the Temple, housing cults devoted to Numen and other deities of Malin’s Pantheon. Each Chapter maintains shrines and relics essential to worship; the destruction of a Temple solely devoted to a Numen may result in that Numen’s spiritual death. Thus, these sites are to be fiercely protected. The first three Chapters operate within the Temple’s core mission, focused on defense and instruction. Each is ideally led by an Elder and two Eramites. Named after legendary Elves from the age of Malin'or who defended the King and Elven sovereignty, these Chapters embody the virtues required to serve Malin. New Chapters may be founded in honor of specific Numen and their cults. I - Chapter of Tharsion II - Chapter of Arth’alemoth III - Chapter of Valk’edyte INITIATES Initiates are novice adherents to the Way of Malin, guided by a Disciple in both combat and doctrine. They do not take an oath or hold leadership roles, focusing instead on self-discovery—particularly identifying the soul fragment they embody—and internalizing the Temple’s teachings. Early years are spent within the Temple of Malin, learning to maintain shrines, offer tributes, and prepare for their Trials. Training emphasizes survival skills, philosophical grounding, and mental resilience against false doctrines and threats to Elven unity. Self-reliance becomes a cornerstone teaching. To advance to the rank of Disciple, an Initiate must complete the following five Trials, each tied to one of the Five Instructions: The Trial of Humility & Reverence The Trial of Industriousness The Trial of Community & Temperance Know-thy-Self (performed only by a Mended-Soul) The Ritual of Legacy (Half-Elves only) All Trials are overseen by Eramites, who judge completion not by fixed steps, but by the Initiate’s demonstrated understanding of the Instruction. Learned Skills. [First Aid] [Basic Blacksmithing: Clothing and Weapons] [Basic Combat] [Malinist Theology] DISCIPLES Disciples form the core of the Temple’s clergy. Fully inducted through an oath administered by the Saneyir, they are charged with guiding 1–2 Initiates, spreading Malin’s teachings, and supporting the Numen. They may serve as messengers for the Saneyir, escorts for Eramites and Elders, and guardians of Temple order. Disciples are expected to actively walk The Way, acting as both fledgling scholars and capable warriors. They often specialize in roles such as quartermasters, relic keepers, or other essential functions within their Chapter. They also enforce Temple law, preserving peace within its sacred spaces. While not mandatory, Disciples are encouraged to have overcome at least one of their soul fragments before ascending to the rank of Eramite. The culminating event for a Disciple will be the forging of their el'talihnsilan, a traditional elven spear, which they will carry on them as a symbol of their authority. Learned Skills [Divine Magic - House Magery] [Writing/Lore Keeping] [Advanced Combat][Alchemy][Basic Smithing: The el'talihnsilan] ERAMITES Eramites are mid-ranking members responsible for executing key operations and maintaining the Order’s discipline. They lead missions—typically with 2–3 Disciples and Initiates—into contested regions, often engaging in combat. As both warriors and scholars, Eramites must be able to face an Uruk in battle and defend Malin’s philosophy before a Mali’thill. They oversee the training and discipline of Disciples, supervise Initiate trials, and frequently deliver lectures on Malin’s teachings. Eramites also hold voting rights in the Order’s administration and may serve as diplomats or emissaries abroad. A critical duty includes forming strike teams to hunt Shades. To advance to Elder, an Eramite must complete the following rituals. Rite of Malin’s Might Soul-Mended Learned Skills [Advanced Combat II] [Bardmancy] [Temple Administration] ELDERS Elders are the senior-most members of the Order—Soul-Mended, lifelong adherents known as Prophets of Malin. They serve as master scholars, elite warriors, planners, mentors, and leaders both within the Temple and across Elvendom. Each Elder commands a Chapter, shaping its identity and preparing it as the foundation for a potential cult in the event of their apotheosis. Elders oversee the security of the Saneyir and form the advisory council to the Malonn’Elberun. They are considered minor Elven lords and may adopt titles reflecting their Chapter’s ancestral legacy. Elders are initiated into the art of [Soul Mending] THE MALONN’ELBERUN The Bronze Brother serves as the senior operations officer of the Temple, overseeing all daily administration and logistical functions. A member of the Ethereal Council, they advise the Saneyir on matters requiring the Order’s intervention or protection of Malin’s interests. They manage the secular and administrative affairs of the Order, acting as the Malonn’Elberun, and ensure the smooth operation of the Temple—overseeing appointments, construction, finances, and the Temple’s quasi-state responsibilities, including taxation. NUMEN & THEIR CULTS Numen are transcendent spirits who have achieved apotheosis. Though no longer bound by the Temple’s hierarchy or daily obligations, they serve as benevolent guardians and spiritual guides. To advance their cults and secure full divine ascension, Numen must work in close partnership with the Saneyir. THE SANEYIR The Saneyir is the senior teacher and spiritual head of the Temple—the voice of Malin. Elected from among the Elders, the Saneyir embodies the continuity of Malin’s Will and bears no allegiance to any Elven subrace, identifying solely as Mali. Charged with defending all Elven realms, the Saneyir maintains strict political neutrality, often intervening when Elves war among themselves. He safeguards Malin’s sacred artifacts, approves the formation of Numen cults, and serves as a counselor to Elven Princes—never conspiring against them, but always urging unity in the vision of a true Malin’or. VI. banih | RITUALS The Order of Malin observes a series of sacred rituals, many tied to promotion within its ranks. Others may be undertaken independently, marking major spiritual or cultural transitions on the path to Malin’or Know-thy-Self Performed only by a Soul-Mended Elf, this rite uses the art of soul-mending to identify which soul fragment is active within the Initiate. Ritual of Legacy Half-Elves must undergo this rite to ascend within the Order. It includes: Pilgrimages to Elven realms Study of the Elven language and Malinic creeds Two nights without sleep, food, or water in the Reclamation Hall, immersed in sacred texts and relics A final test judged by the Elders Completion signifies full spiritual acceptance into Malin’s legacy, though only the Rite of Apotheosis can purge their mixed heritage. The Rite of ah’kina (Honorable or Sacred Death) Elves overwhelmed by madness may request this rite. The Elders will attempt healing first. If approved, the Elf undertakes a perilous mission of great value. Success grants honor, bronzed armor, and the title mar’paronn (Venerable Elder) Failure results in an honorable death, recorded in the chapter rolls Rite of Apotheosis A ritual death that purifies the Elf’s soul, allowing transcendence into Numenhood. Said to erase all traces of mixed heritage. The Rite of Malin’s Peace The Disciple must: Visit all Elven nations and historical sites across the globe Complete meaningful tasks in at least three different realms Each task must reflect wisdom and effort, avoiding both vanity and recklessness. The Rite of Malin’s Might The Eramite must: Defeat an Elder in single combat Then, defend a philosophical argument on the Way of Malin before the Saneyir or Bronze Brother Soul-Mending Performed upon elevation to Elder or Saneyir. This rite restores and enlightens the Elf, preparing them to serve as a Prophet of Malin. VII. laier| AUTHORITY The Order of Malin derives its authority from the Saneyir, who in turn is empowered by Malin and acts with full jurisdiction to defend Malin’s teachings and protect the Temple. Within Temple Grounds: The Order may detain violators and hand them over to recognized political protectors of Malin’s Will. Beyond the Temple: Their rights depend on local sovereigns, but they retain the duty to defend Order members, Numen, holdings, faithful adherents, and Elves in distress. Chapters with Granted Lands: Must defend their host nation in times of war Shall not take arms against other Chapters or Elven realms without Saneyir authorization May only accept local leadership roles with approval from the Malonn’Elberun, and only if it serves the spread of Malin’s Way Edited October 15, 2025 by The Order of Malin
