Gutural chants filled the chasm the party stood within as the beat of wardrums shook the earth to its core. Flesh that clung to the walls beat with the same feral rhythm as skeletal minions and fleshen amalgams alike cawed and hissed in reverence to the ritual in the cavern’s center – a hellish sacrifice.

 

“RAZI A 

UBYZ BLOTHR, 

BURZ, 

UNDERE 

SERTHEKHUR!”

 

The figure held down by a white uruk screeched and writhed, laughing in all his agony as mists tore flesh in twine, extracting bits of his own soul for those selfish practitioners. They bathed in blood of the sacrilegious, smoke of incense and burning manmeat stinking in the rotten air. 

 

“GODAR VOR!

GRADNOM!

GODAR VOR!

GRADNOM!”

 

The sacrificial lamb –  a paladin acolyte – was shown mercy yet. As his eyes fluttered shut and visions of that hell plagued his mind, he soon found himself awake and without memory in some field, with the sigil of a draconic bat carved into his throat.

 

A sign of things to come.

Those present, and the unfortunate sacrifice himself, would find it difficult to forget what they’d seen. Horrid nightmares would plague the minds of the weak and wallowing.
