LazyBacon220 600 Share Posted September 8, 2024 The Mantle Passes Do not Provoke the Lion Issued on the 10th of the Sun’s Smile 126 B.A. With the recent birth announcement of the newest member of House de Lyons, Sir Tristan has taken time to reconsider his place in governance. Recently, he has stepped away from his long-time position as Palatiodora to spend more time raising his children and retiring with his wife. The Viscount had planned to also abdicate at the same time of stepping down from the Courts, however recent events have prevented this and deemed it necessary to remain Viscount for a bit longer. During the recent Segnoria meeting, Sir Tristan, along with other noble houses called for other candidates to be considered as the next Monarch of Balian. There, they were scorned, ridiculed, and called impatient simply for being concerned of the wording used by the Cardinal Ivan’s and the Martiel Duana’s missives regarding the future of the nation. Prince John has seen immense support and yet he too participated in the plot against the High Pontiff though many nobles and certainly the Duana seems to omit this part in every missive printed. With this and the Regency’s Court, Sir Tristan is formally abdicating and passing the mantle to his son: Baron Samuel de Lyons. House de Lyons has full trust in its newest patriarch and Sir Tristan looks forward to seeing the work that Samuel will accomplish. With every decision, Samuel will have the utmost support of House de Lyons and Sir Tristan. The Pride of lions grows stronger still. Signed, The Right Honourable, Sir Tristan de Lyons Viscount of Enderoca, Patriarch of de Lyons, Knight of the Order of St. Michael The Honourable, Samuel de Lyons Baron of Perca del Lleó, Man-At-Arms of the Regiment of St. Lothar Dona Joanna de Lyons
_yink_ 578 Share Posted September 8, 2024 Ariadne looked upon the missive with a smile, "Enjoy your retirement, Sir Tristan. I hope this time in your life treats you well."
SmartScout 392 Share Posted September 8, 2024 (edited) The old, retired Viscount looks over the missive appraisingly, brow slightly furrowed as he'd read it over "I hope he may enjoy his retirement at least. He served well, for most of his reign, though his final acts brought dishonor...hopefully Samuel may salvage the work and reputation I and my father built, rather than continue to backhanded politicking broaching treason to true treason."
