Lucîzôr had never been considered to be a serious person. In fact, he made it his goal to bring some life, joy, whimsy, as he would call it, into every situation that he stumbled upon. The youth, armed with a dagger he had scammed a poor soul out of as a child, an aquamarine flute that always sat ready at his hip, and simply wit, skipped on the gothic streets of Alduun toward the Church. He scanned the gathering crowd, arriving late to the proceedings (or perhaps on time), and began making small talk as arguments ensued. Lucîzôr watched on, speaking his mind, lips thinning in dismay as he realized what was taking place. He frowned as the penance was issued by a man who loved the sound of his own voice more than he loved the flock he claimed to show mercy to. He frowned as the judgment was moved out of the Church because "GOD's WILL" could not be completed in GOD's own home. And as the judgment began, Lucîzôr played music, for that was the only thing that could calm the fire in his soul.

A silver-haired knight combed through the austere halls of the Iron Tower, his white cloak trailing behind him, crowned with the golden star of the man's patron. He still wore a circlet, though much simpler than those of his youth, silvery hairs cascading down his shoulders in a tumble of curls. Ser Nathannenel, once a prince of the South, climbed the rungs of the ladder that led him to his training grounds. Atop the tower of Angrenost, the man turned his gaze south toward his homeland. For while he no longer clung to the past, strung between two realms, the life of Prince Hadrian Constantine was still his. He drew his onyx sword, preparing for the day's cleaning. The templar did not command the white flames of Malchediael to rush onto the blade, and so it remained mundane and humble. A reminder for the once Novellen. He no longer carried such a name, dropping it in exchange for an eternity with his beloved. But the blood of the ancient emperors still ran in his veins. At his hip, he took a small glass vial of oil. Slowly and methodically, it was poured over the blade, the thick liquid running down the fuller and dripping from the guard. The ritual brought peace for the knight, as had the daily trainings that began so many decades ago. As he completed the process of cleaning the blade, he looked toward the sun as it crossed its zenith in the heavens. Its light still shines down upon his sun-kissed skin despite the darkening of the horizons these past years. Nathan closed his eyes, feeling the warmth of the day and hearing the crashing of waves. And there, the last Novellen found peace in his day before he continued to walk his chosen path.

ᴛʜᴇ ꜰᴀʟʟ ᴏꜰ ᴄʜɪʟᴅᴇᴏᴋ [!] A hastily written missive could be seen pinned throughout Aevos [!] Issued on the 13th of Grand Harvest, 239 S.A. The rattling of heavy chains had been heard across the Heart of Aevos. The forces of the Radiant Guard of Idunia, alongside warriors from Caurost, Solgaard, and across the continent, gathered in the White City to investigate such a noise. The source seemed to come from the small village of Childeok, resting upon the shores of the Thirsting Oasis. The area has been well known to harbor specters and other supernatural beings. Expeditions from the Radiant Guard had been ongoing to investigate the cause of an odd phenomenon dubbed a ‘time-loop.’ However, what was encountered today by the combined forces from the Heartlands was not that of the mysterious time-loop but the work of the forces of The Mountain. Upon entering Childeok, a massive chain sprouted from the ground, throwing rocks, debris, and water into the sky. These chains were heralded by the same rattling heard throughout the heartlands, and this sound is the same as the chains of the palmreaders. From these chains sprouted an orange miasma that gave way to the undead. Wraiths soon accompanied the hordes of undead, though they did not behave as normal wraiths. Rather, they seemed like puppets. They looked up constantly, and instead of flying through the air, they were tugged along. Against these wraiths, the standard weapons proved useful, though they tended to stay on the rooftops. Therefore, aurum-tipped javelins, aurum bolts, and aurum arrows should be given to those who face off against these enemies. These wraiths periodically flew toward descendants with shocking speed, enough to dent armor. They left claw marks as well across plate armor. Any who fights these forces without a shield is a fool. At their defeat, the wraiths would shatter, not unlike blasting potions damaging armor and flesh beneath. The southern flank of the coalition fell first to an overwhelming force. From there, retreat was inevitable as more of those large chains sprang up across the village. Each brought an orange miasma and undead puppets along with it. A bolt of mithuril was shot toward the chain, though all it seemed to do was anger whatever summoned them. No damage was observed, though concussive force might be able to damage them. By the time the central force had begun its retreat, the northern flank too had collapsed. In all, three chains now rise from the ruins of Childeok, coating the once peaceful village in that sickly orange miasma. The Lord Commander of Numendil, Ser Nathannenel Eruedraith, asks anyone with further information on the ongoing attacks to ride to the White City and speak with him. Or send a letter penned to Ser Nathannenel Eruedraith Mithrenion or Prince Argelion Arthalion [!] A depiction of chains rising from the conquered Childeok [!] [!] An addendum was attached to the missive [!] After patrolling the surrounding area and seeing the fate brought upon New Valdev, it appears similar tactics were used in both sieges. However, it does not seem likely that the forces of Goldenvine were the ones responsible for the attack on Childeok. This could be proven false on further research. HIS LORDSHIP, Nathannenel Eruedraith Constantine of the Lordly House Mithrenionath, Lord Commander of the Radiant Guard, Knight Commander of Angrenost, Templar of Malchediael, and Knight of the Realm

The Official Holiday of Grimday Day For we are grim, and we do not judge. Issued on the 4th of Malin’s Welcome, 239 S.A. For years now, an unexplainable spell has taken hold of the citizens of the Apostolic Kingdom. These citizens would lie in the muddied streets of the White City or the grasses of Angrenost, staring up at the sky. Intoned with acceptance, they chant the phrase “For we are grim and we do not judge” over and over and over again. As if a sudden fever had come upon them, they would continue on the day after as if nothing had happened. Such a tradition is known as Grimday day. Founded by members of House Mithrenion, House Marsyr, and House Vourkehardt, Grimday day has grown from a whimsical escape from reality to a treasured tradition occurring every Saint’s Thursday. For the citizens of the fiefdom of Angrenost, Grimday day shall henceforth be a formal holiday, and every citizen of Angrenost must wish each other a very happy Grimday day. Celebrations of Grimday Day can take on many forms, but these are the very highly recommended and probably mandatory celebrations that must absolutely take place every Grimday day: Participants must lie on the ground and stare at the sun, basking in the little warmth it provides to the world and their souls. The haunted chanting of the fabled words of Grimday day should be repeated over and over again to foreigners until they eventually give in to the unimaginable pain of peer pressure and join in on the celebrations. For we are grim and we do not judge. The sharing of names and what is making you so grim is absolutely MANDATORY. Those who do not share their grimness are inhibiting others from having a great Grimday day. Grim thoughts and feelings should be reserved for Grimday day. To share these thoughts outside of the holiday not only brings darkness to your life but goes against the very spirit of the holiday, which is to remind you of how grim your life is (Just for the day). At the end of Grimday day, you are happy again. No exceptions. The Ruling House of Mithrenion hopes that these guidelines for a great Grimday day reach receiving ears and aid in the goal of having a healthy and prosperous life. HER ROYAL HIGHNESS, Azruphêl Corweth Aranuiriel of the Lordly House Mithrenionath, Princess of the Númenaranyë, Lady of Angrenost, The Hearth HIS LORDSHIP, Nathannenel Eruedraith Constantine of the Lordly House Mithrenionath, Lord Commander of the Radiant Guard, Knight Commander of Angrenost, Templar of Malchediael, and Knight of the Realm

The Iron Guard of Angrenost It is not the oath that makes us believe the man, but the man the oath. Issued on the 4th of Malin's Welcome, 239 S.A. Since the Tower of Iron rose from the rolling hills of the Highlands, the fiefdom of Angrenost has seen immense growth and prosperity over the years. Now, with walls surrounding the many citizens of the fief, it has become necessary to institute the formal guard force of the region. Known as the Iron Guard, the soldiers of Angrenost are among the strongest and most disciplined forces of the Apostolic Kingdom. While the entire Radiant Guard honors and upholds oaths as law, the soldiers of Angrenost take this idea further. For them, oaths are not just recited and honored, but tempered and honed daily in discipline, restraint, and vigilance. A man’s worth is not found in how well he can swing a sword or guide an arrow to its target. Rather, it is measured by his unwavering adherence to the vows he’s sworn. The Iron Guard falls under the vassal levies of the Radiant Guard of Idunia. While the Knight Commander of Angrenost has authority over the Iron Guard, the Tar, the Lord Commander of the Radiant Guard, and the Crown Prince or Princess (should they be invested) have final authority when it comes to total military activities, wars, and large-scale operations. Organization and Rankings Since the Iron Guard falls under the Radiant Guard, the Chain of Command is shared between the two forces. However, due to the smaller size of Angrenost compared to the Capital, there are fewer rankings within the Iron Guard. While the Royal House of Arthalionath sits outside the Chain of Command for the Radiant Guard, House Mithrenionath of Angrenost does not. The only member of Mithrenionath who carries authority over the Iron Guard is the Matriarch or Patriarch. The current Matriarch of the Mithrenionath is Princess Azruphêl Aranuiriel Mithrenion. Ranks ✧ Recruit ✧ - Recruits within the Iron Guard share the same responsibilities and criteria as their counterparts within the Radiant Guard. They hold no authority within the Iron Guard or the Radiant Guard and can be promoted by either the Knight Commander or the Lord Commander. The criteria for promotion to a full member of the guard are: One PvP Training One Medic Training or be a physician within the clinic One Combat/Formations training. Just as in the Radiant Guard, recruits receive no pay, though they do receive free housing. Additionally, if they attend a mission or operation with either guard force, they will be exempt from combat training. ✧ Guard of Iron ✧ - A Guard of Iron is equivalent to the Radiant Guard rank of Serjeant. These guards can act as squad leaders, though the Knight Commander of Angrenost leads most operations. Guards of Iron are also able to lead small patrols around the fief and the continent beyond. It is recommended that these patrols be coordinated with the Capital for organization. Guards of Iron receive the base pay of Serjeant from the Capital as well as an additional five Mina from Angrenost, making for a total compensation of 30 Mina. Guards of Iron can be promoted by either the Lord Commander or the Knight Commander of Angrenost. The criteria for promotion are the following: Five years as a Guard of Iron Running at least three training sessions (Type does not matter) The attendance of five trainings, patrols, or a combination of the two Pay: 30 Mina Again, similar to the Radiant Guard, should a Guard of Iron recruit three people to the Iron Guard, they shall be exempt from these criteria and promoted immediately. ✧ Tower Warden ✧ - A Tower Warden is the highest guard rank within the Iron Guard and is equivalent to the Radiant Guard rank of Master Serjeant. These guards lead the training within Angrenost and are also the personal guards of the Ruling House Mithrenion. Tower Wardens receive esteemed housing within the Tower of Iron and a generous pay of 40 Mina (30 from the Capital and 10 from Angrenost itself). Tower Wardens also manage the storehouses of Angrenost, produce alchemical weapons, and forge the armor and weapons of the Iron Guard. Tower Wardens may choose to become knights through service. The criteria for this are listed within the Radiant Guard of Idunia. Pay: 40 Mina ✧ Knights of Angrenost ✧ - While Angrenost does not have a separate order of knights, those who have proven their merit and been promoted to such a rank within the Iron Guard are known as the Knights of Angrenost. Equivalent to the military rank of Knight within the Radiant Guard, Knights of Angrenost share many responsibilities of overseeing the Iron Guard and the overall shepherding of recruits. Knights of Angrenost are resolute and disciplined, showcased in their years of service. Knights of Angrenost should proclaim the heraldry of the Tower of Iron somewhere on their armor, though they are permitted to also display their own as well. The title ‘Ser’ means so much more than just a military rank, and with it comes the immense weight of honoring the many oaths of the Chivalric Code. Knights of Angrenost are the gold standard of upholding these oaths and should prioritize their knightly duties above their conventional military ones. Knights of Angrenost receive the same pay as Knights of the Radiant Guard: 30 Mina. Pay: 30 Mina ✧ Knight Commander of Angrenost ✧ - The Knight Commander of Angrenost is the highest authority within the Iron Guard and oversees the day-to-day operations of the levy. The Knight Commander operates closely with the Lord Commander and is responsible for maintaining the readiness of the levy. The Knight Commander can be appointed by either the Lord Commander of the Radiant Guard, the Matriarch or Patriarch of House Mithrenion, or the current Knight Commander if they are retiring from their position. If the Lord Commander appoints a Knight Commander, their choice must also be approved by the Matriarch or Patriarch Mithrenion. Should the Knight Commander of Angrenost perish suddenly, and there is no suitable replacement, the Lord Commander shall oversee the Iron Guard until a replacement is ready. Knight Commanders receive the standard pay of 40 Mina. Pay: 40 Mina Current Knight Commander of Angrenost: Ser Nathannenel Eruedraith Mithrenion Enlistment To any who are interested in joining the Iron Guard, please send a letter to the Knight Commander or contact LazyYink_ on Discord (Discord: lazybacon220) Enlistment Form: Name: IGN: Age: Timezone: HER ROYAL HIGHNESS, Azruphêl Corweth Aranuiriel of the Lordly House Mithrenionath, Princess of the Númenaranyë, Lady of Angrenost, The Hearth HIS LORDSHIP, Nathannenel Eruedraith Constantine of the Lordly House Mithrenionath, Lord Commander of the Radiant Guard, Knight Commander of Angrenost, Templar of Malchediael, and Knight of the Realm

ʀᴀᴅɪᴀɴᴛ ɢᴜᴀʀᴅ ᴏꜰ ɪᴅᴜɴɪᴀ Uphold the Peace. Guard the Gate. Keep Safe the People. Hunt the Darkspawn. Slay the Beast. Help Thy Comrade. Cleanse the land of all its Darkness. Be the Light. The Radiant Guard of Idunia, the military and guard force of the Apostolic Kingdom of Idunia, boasts a distinguished history. Established in the March of Barrowton, they are renowned for vanquishing dark creatures and vile beasts. Veterans of numerous conflicts, the Radiant Guard has fought valiantly to protect the unique Adunian culture and heritage. What truly sets apart the Radiant Guard from other forces on the continent is the emphasis placed on oaths within the guard force. A man’s word is not just his thoughts, but should be an intimate reflection of his soul. This tenet of the Radiant Guard further emphasizes the time-honored Numenedain tradition of taking the Oath of Tar-Numenatar. Responsible for maintaining peace within the realm and shielding the people from harm, the Radiant Guard exists not merely as a martial force but as a living order, fighting for the forces of GOD and the light. Its members carry a sacred duty upon their proud shoulders to aid their brother in arms and cleanse the land of darkness. ᴏʀɢᴀɴɪᴢᴀᴛɪᴏɴ The Apostolic Kingdom structures its military force through the division of levies between the Capital and its vassals. Each vassal is responsible for training their soldiers for the specialized defense of their lands. However, each segment of the army supports the other, strengthening the overall army through cooperation. Each vassal shall have its levy, unless the vassal is unable to support their levy. In this case, any soldiers or warriors of the vassal will be added to the Capital levy. In the event of a large-scale conflict, the vassal levies shall be mustered and called to arms in support of the kingdom, coalescing as a concentrated force and all bearing the same banner of the Radiant Guard. While the Guard may be divided into various levies, this does not prevent collaboration. During guard addresses, vassal-specific trainings, or large-scale conflicts, guards shall wear their specific levy armors. In all other cases, the standard uniform of the Radiant Guard shall be used for uniformity. ᴜɴɪꜰᴏʀᴍꜱ ᴀɴᴅ ʀᴀɴᴋɪɴɢꜱ The Guards of Barrowton were often dressed in chain and cloth, along with small amounts of plate. Whilst the March had excellent smiths from Urguan and Canondom alike, the use of plate was not common, as the plains of the March were muddy and slippery. Excess weight and a looser foot grip can spell one’s doom when facing hordes of undead. Nowadays, in far better climate and conditions, the Guard of Idunia sports heavier armor, specifically those soldiers who have shown enough to warrant promotion to a proper Guard, rather than a recruit. The sword, spear, and mace are favorites due to their reliability, along with the heater, kite, or even tower shield, however, weaponry is open to the preference of the guard in question. For the sake of proper formations, a spear, shield, and side-sword are mandatory. Recruits who first join the Guard are immediately granted a standard uniform of chain, cloth, and minimal plate. A proud tradition of the guard is the transformation of these recruits to full-on guardsmen through the granting of pauldrons. Further ranks continue to see an increase in plate armor, but the true mark of a soldier’s merit is the wings that crest their helm. These wings are striking on the battlefield and grow in grandeur as a warrior progresses through the ranks. Cloaks may also be granted to soldiers of high rank. No matter what rank a soldier may bear, each member of the Guard of Idunia proudly boasts the Star of Malchediael upon their chest. ᴄʜᴀɪɴ ᴏꜰ ᴄᴏᴍᴍᴀɴᴅ Imperative to any functioning guard force, the Chain of Command is a rigid structure designed to ensure that commands are issued and executed in an orderly and appropriate manner. Those who may go against the Chain of Command will face severe repercussions, including but not limited to: penance, dishonorable discharge, banishment from future guard service, exile, and even death. To clarify who is leading a squad of guardsmen, the commanding officer of that mission is expected to declare their authority beforehand. In case this does not happen, the formal Chain of Command should be followed and is listed below. It should be noted that the Royal House Arthalionath sits outside of the Guard’s Chain of Command. Members of this house possess no inherent authority over the Guard unless it is explicitly conferred by the Tar. The Crown Prince or Princess is included in this until they have formally been given command and invested with the authority of the White Throne. The only Arthalionath that has standing command over the Guard is the Tar. Additionally, the formal Chain of Command does not necessarily apply during training. Authority shall be expressly given to whoever is leading the training, and unless there is an error with what is being taught, everyone present must adhere to their command, regardless of rank. The Chain of Command is listed in the order of greatest authority to least. ✧ Tar ✧ - As the only member of House Arthalionath with standing command of the Guard, the Tar has the supreme and final authority over the Guard and all matters of the Kingdom. ✧ Crown Prince or Princess ✧ - As stated above, until the Crown Prince or Princess has been invested with the authority of the White Throne, this rank does not exist. Once the investiture has taken place, the Crown Prince or Princess will take a position of authority under the Tar. There is a caveat to this authority, however. The Lord Commander or Grand Knight reserves the power to go against a command if such a command puts the warriors of the Guard in needless danger. This should be only the exception and not the norm, and is only a last resort. ✧ Lord Commander ✧ - Second only to the Tar, the Lord Commander carries the greatest authority within the Radiant Guard of Idunia. ✧ Grand Knight/Knight Commander ✧ - The Grand Knight, while not expressly a rank within the Radiant Guard, often involves themselves with guard service and regularly accompanies the guard on its missions. They have equal authority to the Knight Commanders of the Vassal levies. If the Grand Knight and a Knight Commander are present and the Lord Commander or Tar is absent, the Grand Knight shall be granted command of the operation. ✧ Knight Captain ✧ - Knight Captains carry immense authority within the guard, and their command should be heeded, even if higher ranks are present. If higher ranks are present, Knight Captains may be asked to lead smaller groups of soldiers or even take authority if granted by a commander or the Tar. ✧ Knight ✧ - Within the guard, knighthood is treated as the first rank within the officer corps. Knights should be granted command over any of the below ranks and will be asked to be both a teacher to squires and lead patrols. Knights are also directly accountable to the Grand Knight. ✧ Master Serjeant ✧ - Master Serjeant is the final rank of the enlisted Guard before the title of Knighthood might be granted. Master Serjeants have proven their worth through hard work and their merit, and the authority given to them mirrors this. Any rank below is accountable to Master Serjeants. ✧ Serjeant ✧ - Serjeants have proven their worth over just the title of guard and will be given authority over small groups of guards as well as the command to lead various trainings. ✧ Guard ✧ - Guards, while one of the lowest ranks within the guard, do hold the authority over the people and the overall authority of the Radiant Guard. Additionally, they hold command over basic recruits. ✧ Recruit ✧ - Fresh into the guard, recruits hold no authority within the guard. Rather, they must prove their worth and learn the basics before command might be granted to them. ✧ Squire ✧ - Similar to recruits, squires hold no authority within the Guard. Squires are not even an official rank of the Guard. Rather, squires are meant to accompany their knight and the overall guard to learn before command might be granted. Should a member of the guard choose to undergo squirehood, they will forgo any previous command given to them unless they have achieved the rank of Serjeant or above, in which case, they will retain their command. achieved the rank of Serjeant or above, in which case, they will retain their command. ᴠᴀꜱꜱᴀʟ ʟᴇᴠɪᴇꜱ The Radiant Guard of Idunia is unique in its composition of distinct vassal levies. Each vassal of the overall kingdom shall have its levy for which the Knight Commander is responsible. In essence, these levies function as smaller militaries capable of supporting themselves and supplemented by the Capital. These levies, while distinct in nature, exist also as part of the Radiant Guard of Idunia. In vassal activities, vassal trainings, and vassal-specific operations, the Knight Commander of the Levy should have overall command. Only the Tar, Crown-Prince, and Lord Commander have higher authority, but this should only be exercised when necessary. Vassal levies may have different names for their ranks. In such cases, an equivalent rank using the standard Radiant Guard ranking system will also be assigned for ease and organization of the Chain of Command. Should a vassal levy not have a different naming scheme for their rank structure, the standard Radiant Guard ranks will be used. Vassal levies are encouraged to bear their colors that showcase their culture and pride. There is little limitation on the exact armament of these colors, though they should bear the Radiant Star somewhere on them. This is to easily identify them as part of the Apostolic Kingdom. Other dress codes MAY be enforced at the Tar and Lord Commander’s discretion. ʀᴀɴᴋꜱ The Radiant Guard of Idunia has duties other than just command over the people. It takes multiple different groups and responsibilities to run the Guard effectively, and these duties are given to different ranks. As warriors progress through the ranks, both more command and freedom will be given, as well as an increase in pay. Additionally, to progress through the ranks of the Radiant Guard, some criteria must be met. However, exceptional warriors might be promoted for extraordinary merit. This should be the exception and not the norm, and the overall criteria should be achieved before promotion is earned. ✧ Recruit ✧ Recruits, with no command given to them, have one job within the guard: learn. To become a recruit in the Radiant Guard of Idunia, an individual must have reached their fourteenth summer and seek out a member of the guard. Recruits do not receive pay following a signing bonus to further encourage them to attend training. However, pay may be given to recruits at the discretion of the commanding officer for outstanding effort. Recruits also receive a free kit, rations, lodging, and a uniform for protection. Recruits must attend the following trainings before they can be promoted to Guard: One PvP Training One Medic Training or be a physician within the clinic One Combat/Formations training. Recruits who attend missions or operations with the Radiant Guard will be exempt from needing to complete the Combat training. Pay: None ✧ Guard ✧ Following receiving their pauldrons, Guards will continue carrying out various duties such as manning the gates, attending trainings and patrols, and participating in operations and hunts. Guards also receive a yearly pay of 20 Mina. Guards are also allowed to join the Rangers and further their service in this division of the Guard. To be promoted from the guard, the following criteria should be met beforehand: Two Years as a Guard The attendance of three patrols, trainings, or a combination of the two. Some experience manning the gate. The trainings required to be promoted from recruit do not count toward this criterion. Pay: 20 Mina ✧ Serjeant ✧ Serjeants have an increase in authority and freedom from normal Guards. Serjeants can lead trainings and recruit new soldiers into the Radiant Guard. Additionally, Serjeants receive a pay of 25 Mina yearly. To be promoted further, Serjeants should meet the following criteria: Three years as a Serjeant Running at least three training sessions (Type does not matter) The attendance of five trainings, patrols, or a combination of the two Should a Serjeant recruit three new soldiers to the Guard, they will be exempt from this criterion and be promoted immediately. Pay: 25 Mina ✧ Master Serjeant ✧ Master Serjeant is the highest rank within the non-officer corps of the Guard and functions as the Guard’s enlisted officers. As such, they are given a large amount of both freedom and authority. Master Serjeants may be allowed to seek out a teacher within the Guard of the Alchemical arts or a teacher of the smith. Master Serjeants may also be given specific duties within the Guard, such as Smith, Alchemist, and Quartermaster. Master Serjeants may also devote themselves to the clinic and become physicians of the Guard. The duties of which are laid out below. Master Serjeants receive a yearly pay of 30 Mina. Master Serjeants must express interest in progressing further within the Guard. Should they do such, the criteria to be promoted are outlined in the ‘Knighthood through Service’ section of this missive. If no interest is expressed, then Master Serjeants will not be promoted further unless extraordinary merit deems it so. Quartermasters are responsible for the following duties: Manage the storehouses of the guard Organize kits for fresh recruits and guards Organize Mining Runs for the guard Keep the storehouses stocked Alchemists are responsible for the following duties: Creation of Alchemical weapons for the Guard to use Creation of Alchemical armor, such as Bowie Cloaks, for the Rangers and Guard Teaching new alchemists for the Guard Collaborating with the Quartermasters to keep the Alchemical weapons stocked. Smiths are responsible for the following duties: Creation of weapons for the Guard to use Creation of specific armor pieces and shields for the Guard Collaborating with the Quartermaster to maintain the stock of kits for the Guard Pay: 30 Mina ✧ Knight ✧ The rank of Knight applies specifically to the conventional military duties that a knight must carry out within the Radiant Guard. Knighthood means so much more than just a rank and contains honor, sacrifice, and a servant’s heart. While military duties are important, the keeping of the Chivalric Code and carrying out the responsibilities of a knight are ever more so and each knight must uphold the principles that they’ve sworn to keep. More information about the knightly duties can be found within the missive: “Knights of the White Tree”. What is outlined below is purely the military duties of a knight. Knights make up the first rank of the officer corps of the Guard. Alongside their knightly duties, they are expected to carry out their Guard duties with precision and care. Knights are permitted to display their heraldry somewhere on their armor so long as the Radiant Star remains visible and unobstructed. Knights receive the same yearly pay as Master Serjeants of 30 Mina and should regularly recruit and train members of the Guard. To be promoted further, there must be an opening within the three Knight Captain ranks. Should there be an opening, a knight should have the following criteria before being promoted further: Seven years as a Knight The training and knighting of one squire Five patrols attended Leading six trainings Recruitment of at least one individual into the Guard. Depending on which position within the Knight Captains is open, additional training might be necessary. Pay: 30 Mina ✧ Knight Captain ✧ The rank of Knight Captain is the highest rank achievable through direct promotions. Within the Radiant Guard, there shall always be three Knight Captains, each with specific duties associated with them. Knight Captains receive a yearly pay of 40 Mina. Captain of the Rangers The Captain of the Rangers is in charge of the Rangers of Idunia. They are expected to lead this prestigious group of Numenedain warriors, organizing specialized ranger trainings and patrolling the greater kingdom for bandits and foul creatures. Should this role become vacant, the next Captain of the Rangers will come from the Rangers and be promoted by the Lord Commander. Current Captain of the Rangers: Ser Elentirien Captain of the Tower The Captain of the Tower is in charge of the day-to-day workings of the Radiant Guard. They work next to the Lord Commander to make certain that the barracks are properly organized, the storehouses are stocked and organized, and trainings are prepared. The Captain of the Tower can be seen as the ‘supreme Quartermaster’ of the Guard, and is in charge of the various smiths, alchemists, and other quartermasters of the Radiant Guard. The Captain of the Tower should also make sure that mining runs occur regularly. There are no additional requirements for this position. Current Captain of the Tower: Captain of the Cross The Captain of the Cross is in charge of the Clinic, physicians, and combat medics of the Guard. They are expected to help organize yearly medical trainings for the Guard as well as keep the clinic open and properly prepared for any injuries that are sustained. The Captain of the Cross is in a unique position as they should render aid to both guardsmen and criminals alike. The only group that shall be refused aid by the Captain of the Cross or the clinic as a whole is those who serve the Betrayer, willingly or unwillingly. While there are no formal additional requirements for this position, those seeking it should be well-versed in the arts of medicine. Current Captain of the Cross: Ser Arthur Marsyr Pay: 35 Mina ✧ Knight Commander ✧ The rank of Knight Commander is not earned through promotion but rather appointment. Despite this, Knight Commanders should be knowledgeable and carry similar experience as if they had risen through the ranks of the Guard. Knight Commanders lead levy-specific trainings and oversee recruitment within their regions. Knight Commanders should be appointed by the leader of the vassal or, in the absence of one, the Lord Commander or Tar. Those seeking to become part of the vassal levies of Numendil should either seek out the Lord Commander or the Knight Commander of the specific levies. Knight Commanders receive a yearly pay of 40 Mina. Current Knight Commanders of Idunia Knight Commander of Angrenost: Ser Nathannenel Eruedraith Mithrenion Knight Commander of Ildon: Ser Arthur Marsyr Knight Commander of Garenbrig: Prince Llewyn Glennmaer Knight Commander of Petra: Ser Artair von Theonus Knight Commander of Hyspia: Ser Mauricio Salazar Pay: 40 Mina ✧ Lord Commander ✧ The Lord Commander is the supreme authority of the guard, subordinate only to the Tar in their command. They are in total command of all Guard forces, including the vassal levies. In addition to this, the Lord Commander aids in organizing trainings, recruiting new soldiers into the guard, leading operations and missions, and maintaining the discipline, integrity, and strength of the Guard. The Lord Commander is appointed by the Tar and not through promotion. Pay: 40 Mina ᴋɴɪɢʜᴛʜᴏᴏᴅ ᴛʜʀᴏᴜɢʜ ꜱᴇʀᴠɪᴄᴇ Within the Apostolic Kingdom of Idunia, there are two main ways to achieve the prestigious title of Knighthood. Outlined in “Knights of the White Tree”, willing souls may choose to undergo the trials of squirehood and receive a knighthood at its completion. However, members of the Guard may also receive a knighthood for prolonged service to their nation as well as extraordinary merit. Warriors granted the opportunity through the Guard are not exempt from the rigid duties and oaths of the Knightly Order. They are still expected to know and swear by the Chivalric Code, as well as know the various duties of knights, including the Last Rite of Kings. The specific duties of knights outside of the Guard may be found in “Knights of the White Tree”, while Guard-specific duties will be outlined in the “Ranks” section of this missive. The following criteria should be met before seeking a knighthood through service: Reach the rank of Master Serjeant and express interest in being promoted further Five years served as Master Serjeant Leading at least three patrols Attendance of at least one mission or operation of the guard [OOC: Player or ST event] Running at least four trainings. Taking the Oath of Tar-Numenatar Should this criterion be reached by an individual, they will be taught both the Chivalric Code, the Last Rite, and the other duties of a knight. They shall then be tested on their knowledge before finally taking their knightly oaths. Should the Lord Commander, Grand Knight, or Tar deem an individual worthy and they demonstrate extraordinary merit, they may receive a knighthood for their actions following the teaching of the knightly duties. ᴛʜᴇ ᴏʀᴅᴇʀ ᴏꜰ ᴛʜᴇ ᴡʜɪᴛᴇ ᴛᴏᴡᴇʀ The Order of the White Tower is Idunia’s order of Radiant Templars, the followers and warriors of Malchediael. The Order stands apart from the greater Radiant Guard with its own command structure and duties. However, many members of the Order of the White Tower are soldiers within the Radiant Guard and carry some greater authority than the average knight due to their radiant connection. To denote themselves as Templars, soldiers may wear an all white cloak instead of the Numenedain standard of red. ᴛʜᴇ ᴅᴜᴛɪᴇꜱ ᴏꜰ ᴛʜᴇ ʀᴀɴɢᴇʀ The Rangers of Numendil are a unique branch of the Radiant Guard that specializes in scouting, stealth, and hunting monsters, fey, and bandits. Denoted clearly by their forest green cloaks and cowls, the Rangers have their specialized training to prepare themselves properly to effectively rid the kingdom of banditry and monsters of the dark. Rangers are also immensely skilled with the longbow and stealth capabilities. Due to a Ranger’s skill with the Cuthalion bow, they are also responsible for teaching the larger Guard force basic archery. To become a Ranger, one must first reach the rank of Guard. Should an individual express interest in becoming a ranger once this rank is achieved, then they will take on the rank of Ranger Apprentice. Here, they will learn the ways of the Rangers through specialized training, including not just the usage, but the mastery of the Cuthalion bows, alchemical weaponry in battle, stealth, and scouting skills. Once the Captain of the Rangers deems an individual worthy, they will be promoted to a full Ranger. The Pay of Rangers is similar to that of a normal Guardsman. A Ranger Apprentice will be paid 20 Mina, A full Ranger 30 Mina, and a Ranger-Knight 40 Mina, respectively. The uniform of the Ranger is starkly different from that of the guardsmen. To not inhibit their stealth and scouting abilities, Rangers are often equipped with light armor of gambeson and cloth. Bearing little, if any, chain, the ranger relies on their silence and skill to keep them alive. Bowie cloaks and other alchemical armaments are also used to aid the Rangers in their goal. Sometimes, heavier armor is necessary for a pure chance of survival. In this case, a ranger may sport a heavier armored version of their normal attire with chain and plate. This armor should be alchemically treated, however, to be as silent as possible. Rangers may also receive a knighthood for their service and be known as a Knight-Ranger. ᴄʟɪɴɪᴄ ᴏꜰ ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴜᴀʀᴅ The medical arm of the Radiant Guard is centered around the Clinic of the White City. Here, trained physicians take care of those who might suffer injuries, including criminals. The Clinic of the Guard is stewarded by the Captain of the Cross, who runs the medic trainings for the Radiant Guard. It is to be noted that the Clinic of the Guard and the larger Clinic of the White City are uniquely different. Physicians of the Clinic are not required to be members of the Radiant Guard and may be civilians instead, however, any who wishes to become medically certified through the guard must enlist before receiving training. The Clinic of the Guard collaborates with the College of Harrenite Medicine to ensure that guards meet the rigorous standards of medical practice. The Captain of the Cross may defer to the Master Surgeon when judging whether a guard is ready to be fully oathed as a Military Physician. Specialized training, which is much more rigorous and in-depth than the standard field medicine training that all guards must receive, clearly sets this elite group of healers apart. Additionally, many in the Clinic are trained in the alchemical arts and may offer their training to those who reach the rank of Master Serjeant or above. Those who seek to learn about medicinal practices or alchemical arts should contact the Captain of the Cross. ᴇɴʟɪꜱᴛɪɴɢ To join the Guard, contact LazyYink_ Or Fill Out the Form Below. Nathannenel felt the movement of the beast beneath. Its lumbering steps a constant knocking in his head. Abrazân - steadfast, kept in line with the other mounted riders. The creature bore no armor, despite the constant peddling of his caretakers. He was simple and surefooted; a mount for a common man and not the former prince that rode him. Surrounding the southron man, was the Numenedain march. A march to his home. The welcomed tropical heat rose up from the terrain as the march continued. Step by step, cadence by cadence they made their way through the thick jungles. Humid air clung to the skin, leaving the all too familiar sheen of sweat along his arms. A few men muttered complaints but to Nathannenel? It was home. The walls of Portoregne rose up shortly after. Now littered with makeshift defenses- the markings of a city under siege, the Palatio still stood proud. Men littered the battlements. One of these, he knew would be his brother. John. Hadrian had never loved his brother. At least, that was what he believed. "John this, John that." To Hadrian? John was nobody but an entitled brat. He bounced down the steps of Portoregne, spying John and their father. "Father looks angry today" Indeed, he was. A broken circlet lay at Alexander's feet as he spoke to John. What were they speaking so angrily about? Hadrian had nooooo clue. Whatever it was though, it was probably John's fault. And so, second-born Hadrian continued on his way. More important things, like mangos required his attention! The soldiers of Portoregne spilled out of their gates, their armor singing a song all too familiar to the Eruedraith. Abrazân had been sent off for some much-needed rest. Nathannenel dawned his helmet, for the battle to come would not be the graceful ones sung about in ballads. It would be savagery at the expense of good people. The southron's eyes began to close to begin his ritual and then... he saw him. Himself, really. Leaving the regalia of the crown behind, John led his people. And for the first time in decades, Nathannenel did not complete his ritual. "THEIR LINES HAVE BROKEN" A voice not his own, screamed out. Nathannenel did not care. He pushed and shoved his way through the chaos. Blood coated the front of his armor. He had to reach him. And yet, cheers rang out. The siege was over and all the Eruedraith had to show for it was blood that was not his own. Nathannenel sat in the dwellings of Angrenost, armor tossed to the side. His family sat around him. Balian would still fight. His attempt to convince John to stop the fighting failed, and all by his hand. Something within him had been revealed that day and terror had struck him. "Pen a new Quenta Uthyriad. Simply the records of a man. His deeds and his faults." Aranuir's word punctured the fear within...or perhaps amplifying it. The warrior face fell away and for a split moment, he was Hadrian once more. The boy who claimed to hate his brother. "I'll do it" And in those words, the fear dissipated. The hate faded. A new charge had been taken. To remember. Upon that march back to Angrenost atop Abrazân, Nathannenel thought back on that night. Now, more than ever, that charge weighed on his heart. The gates of the fief opened at his arrival. The knight slid off the back of his mount; azure cloak billowing behind him. He reached the aviary where a multitude of letters were then written. Each one sent to members of his family and sealed with their sigil. He exited the aviary, heading to the gardens. Nathan knelt down in a clearing, brushing away sticks and rocks. There, he prepared a spot to bury two people. Hadrian the Hero was buried in the grounds surrounding the Iron Tower. No plaque marked the site of this, but all knew it was next to the plaque for John II. There, a pedestal was placed that would one day tell his story. But for now, a piece of headwear was placed atop that pedestal. The circlet of Hadrian.

Upon the cold steps of the Iron Tower, Nathannenel Eruedraith, Lord Commander of Numenost, collapsed. His body spent, soul strained from the day's fight...his proud armor rattled against the stone steps, adding to the scrapes and bends that marked a hard-fought challenge. A familiar woman knelt beside the man, hauling him up the stairs, one by one. It was only by her effort that the knight actually made it home. "Tell no one" His words were raspy and short of breath. Had he ever been this tired? Perhaps at some point, but this...this was different. He carried with him no trophy of the kill. The only monument to the effort given is a pile of stone somewhere amidst other piles of stones that made up the ruins of Veletz. No, this numbness was different from before. For so long, he had relied on the tempest, the constant churning of emotions pushing him; guiding him. These emotions were dulled now, like the numbness of his mechanical hand. How cruel it was to still allow him to feel yet not to the fullest extent. As the armor was taken from his body and bruises were showcased in the light, a gathering appeared on his steps. The work continued and so, Nathannenel must continue as well.

A young prince stood surrounded by a family that was not his own. These people, clad in black, gold, and crimson armor were truly no older than himself, yet they carried themselves as warriors. At their head, a humble man who provided, shepherded, and raised them each into honorable warriors. To some, these men; that man was a traitor. And yet, his honor was unbound. Baldric Vourkehardt, humble horse merchant. The prince gazed around the small gathering. Just a boy but such responsibility was thrusted upon his shoulders. His greatest friend, a fiery red-headed girl looked upon him as the boy she first met was cast aside for the prince he must be. That humble man only looked upon the scared boy, encouraging him. There was a profound optimism streaming from the singular iris of the man. Somehow, he gave that prince the power to stand taller. That prince was no more. What replaced him was a father. A knight. A husband. A warrior. Step-by-step, he climbed the stairs of Angrenost. A clang rang in a rhythmic manner as stone met metal boot. As he reached the top, his hands grasped each rung of the final ladder, the numb touch of his left hand- which once terrified the knight, had become a calming touch. The acknowledgement of both failure and resilience. The prosthetic bore his life on display, yet his mind wandered to the hands that made it. The family that cared so much for a forsaken prince to rebuild part of himself...to make him whole once more. He stepped out upon the summit of the tower, its crested peaks rising in various directions. His hand glided down till it met the cold comfort of his hilt. The gunmetal colored blade was drawn, storm blue leather worn by years of practice. A whisper was given to the weapon, held deftly in his metal-plated hands. There was a reverence the man gave the sword. Twisting his wrist, the sword was made vertical before the sword was pushed into the gravel floor at their feet. He stepped off to the side of the weapon, now intertwining metal digits behind his back. His chest was broad, jewels and a circlet proudly displayed on his bodice. But the stance felt hollow. That no matter how long or how proud he stood tall, the pit that the loss bore could not be refilled. Atop that high tower, he gazed toward Caladras. How proud her walls still stood despite the loss within. How vibrant and lively her occupants were. How miraculous her rebirth had been... "Despite all he did, he remained humble. No, his humility grew in his later years..." These words, spoken only to the weapon next to him drifted on the wind. That wind which once seemed terrifying now gave a potent reminder of life. A reminder that Nathannenel was still able to feel her touch on his skin and brush aside the curls that she released from his head. This wind was not something to fear, but to feel. "A man is not just remembered for his voice or weight of his word. He is remembered through the stories that he makes. The honor that he showcases in his actions. Your honor knew no equal, Baldric. For the example you set, the friend you are, the man you became, I am eternally in your debt. Enjoy retirement, friend." The Eruedraith maintained that posture. Till the sun kissed the horizon and the warmth shrunk away in favor of the stars. And when the stars emerged, beginning their heavenly procession, He finally turned away, moving toward his defiant blade. Flesh and steel wrapped around the hilt, raising it to the sky. His courage flooded through the weapon, enveloping it in a luminous flame. No longer did he stand for love; for duty; for honor. He fought now to remember.

The Southron stepped down the stairs of Minas Aranath, the rhythmic tap tap of his gait the only constant in his mind. One step after the other, he went down the stairs, past the sparring grounds. And then, hesitance. He gazed back toward the spiraling towers. The defiance of their austere structures. How too, did he wish to stand as those towers and not bend in the torrents of the flood. His hands reached up to his head, undoing the tied back hair and allowing the silver strands to fall against white furs. "May you find your peace." Words echoed and said to nothingness. Fleeting, in the ever-present winds, they were meaningless and yet a sliver of hope crept up between cracks in the man's soul. Cracks broken and mended over lifespans. Finally, the man turned continuing down the steps toward the forges. He arrived at the forges without armor. The opulence and protection set aside. His hair remained down, despite the dangers. Sleeves rolled up to above his elbows. The pipes and gears exposed from his mechanical forearm. Various rings were set down nearby. The circlet of crystalline sapphires and pure aurum removed from his head. His hands reached for the wedding band and removed it. The ring was clutched tightly in naked hands as he pulled it towards his chest. A gold chain was procured and looped through the Starsteel jewelry. The Lord Commander grasped at the newest sword for the Radiant Guard, blade still glowing hot. It had yet to be finished and so, he began to work... With each pound, the metal was shaped and curved. The impurities blasted away in the heats of the furnaces. Each swing of the hammer purposeful, each quenching of the metal meticulous and soulful. Ashen hands rubbing against the sweat on his brow, the blade was put down, ready for the true smiths to finish the weapon. He turned, leaving the furnaces with a lightened soul. Nathannenel Eruedraith Constantine Arthalion stepped up the stairs of the Tower of Iron. His face and hair covered in soot. He opened the door to his chamber, stormy-gray eyes falling upon his wife. Her gaze. For a moment, he all but stood there. What walls he had built up crumbled away. They always did. What tears he had managed to hide throughout the day began streaming down his face. Step after step, he approached Lôminzil taking her hand in his, before embracing her. For that moment, there was safety, security. His voice began as a whisper "I'm sorry...I am so so sorry" Meaningless words, but they did not fade. Minutes, they embraced, and every second restored him. A blessing of hope and love. His head lofted upwards, brushing away his silver locks and he met his wife's gaze "I promise, her legacy will live on." He brushed red curls away, kissing her forehead lightly, hand placed tenderly on her stomach. "They'll know of her. Her life. Her struggles. We'll remember" His eyes closed then, hoping that perhaps- those words wouldn't be fleeting. @Irene

Ser Nathannenel Eruedraith Constantine, the once Balian prince, read over the missive that had found its way into his hand. Silvering locks fell across his greyish-green eyes as he read, a smile forming upon his countenance. "I'll protect you, lad. The sins of the father are not the sins of the son." And so, the Lord Commander of Numendil sat upon his desk in the Tower of Angrenost and penned a letter to the once Savoie, now a freed man. -
Ser Nathannenel Eruedraith read over the missive, grimacing at the tale. His hands crumpled up the missive, the paper crushing easily in his mechanical digits. Leaning across his desk, the Lord Commander of Numenost penned a new missive to this 'Jed.' Only two words were written in the actual letter for the rest was his incredibly lengthy name. "Try me." It was stamped with his personal seal, a broken crown with a sword running through the center. Climbing up the Tower of Iron, the letter was attached to a bird and sent to meet with the supposed "sheriff." @Kardika
