[Player Event End]

Spoiler

Even though the sickly smog retreated from the streets above,
small clouds of it still linger in the sewers below.

Noone wishes to rebuild nor repopulate the street of Molekrat Way.
The once vibrant & colorful houses now sit empty & dark.
Cobwebs its furniture & dried blood its plaster.

A written account based on the reports of Adventurers who traversed

the Molekrat way & the sewers.

When I issued the first missive, I was worried that no one would show particular interest in my troubles & what was happening to Moleton. After all, few outside of Petra even know of its existence & where it lies. Luckily there were quite a few who dared to risk entering the abandoned alleyways & sewers. From Druii & Shamans, to Mages & Knights, To Numendil & Petra. People of different walks of life & status, all here to clear the way for me & the construction workers. Perhaps my initial scepticism of the deepening alliance between the two nations was too hasty. Alas, what I heard from them was not pleasant.

First when they entered, they encountered a dead body of one of the workers I had sent out a few days ago to look over the situation. Or at least what was left of him. His upper half had been completely crushed with only the lower abdomen & legs still intact.

Even more harrowing was the fact that when the group investigated the poor man, he got up - rather his lower half did & ran off into the alley way.

[!] The half-ghoul would run off - leaving a trail of blood behind him
as he dashed into the dark alleyways of Molekrat Way.
AD_4nXfOcY-Rzr2obORmNw6Flao12vhgBFl1h1GVDsxSnvhB1g7GQlz0j714DeqJ8D5bODDR2CY3szANVTt3WaRPFZLmkJd0tDzjG0541YiScM4FvZhi9vuKRC7GkRRnaO2Fj-BiXKguIas-XIwBNv5i-ZIQh-lU?key=LKO1JIdADXbGIXG7bxw9qw

The group would follow the half-ghoul into the dark alley, however they would find a splitting path, blood spilled everywhere:
To the left of them is an old evicted house, its door open and a trail of blood leading into the basement.
In front of them, the Workshop of a goblin named Xaaro, which was locked.
And finally, to the right a long dark alley, where a fresh trail of blood would lead.

The Evicted house:
First, the group would descend into the evicted house, within it they found an abandoned shop & an old iron hatch that led to the sewers, having become a crimson color from blood and humidity. While they tried to open it, it was no use. The hatch was too strong, barely moving & without a key for it they had no hope of opening it. There were sounds of something splashing around in the sewers below however as the group attempted to open it. Some even saw human heads peek up at them.

Finding no way to enter the sewers from here, the group decided to look around the shop for something useful, finding the key to the Workshop.

Perhaps Xaaro had left it there before they departed from Moleton? Or perhaps it was a spare key?
Regardless, the group decided to move on to the shop..

The Xaaro’s Workshop:
When the group entered the Workshop, they would find more dried-blood & smell of rot. Upstairs, in the Living Quarters of the Workshop, the group would stumble upon the most stomach-churning sight. The bed by the stairs was a mess of bloody & torn sheets, infested with maggots & moths & a headless decomposing body in the corner of the room. It was hard to identify who or what they were.

Above it, a ghost was hovering. A ghost of an orc with half of his body burnt. His bald head floating separate from it, the top of it covered with lumps & bumps. He seemed to be focused on a rock & trying to hit his head with it. Though without a physical body, the rock would just phase through him.

[!] Sight of a burnt ghost, focusing hard on the stone hovering in their hand,

they seemed to barely notice the group that had just entered.
AD_4nXcHj3pibvHlBkLFkp08S7AyoV3N-7durMC5-D9qxltT0Uj3Cp8LJxgoiSoou78BVn8cD9czfDFH9qqNeFPKeNFgbyM1Gmf0NZYq4oEHuvXIVNRUyZYbh9R7g0ydnZqDT2bmaF417u-qB-3HwKKG6R65738n?key=LKO1JIdADXbGIXG7bxw9qw

Some claimed that they knew the ghost from when he was alive, however there were conflicting reports WHO exactly this ghost used to be. A necromancer’s apprentice? A kind-hearted but dumb Uruk? All we know for certain is that he goes by the name Gr'ogg. It should be investigated further…

According to the group, it was hard to have a proper conversation with the ghost - he seemed to be lethargic at best, giving short, mumbled answers of nonsense. However they manage to figure out that the ghost is looking for his missing head, which they decided to keep an eye out for, prompting the apparition to follow them.

The Rat House:
After exiting the house, now with a new, although useless follower - the group would follow the fresh blood-trail into the last alleyway of Molekrat Way. There they would find a broken hatch leading below into the sewers & a house before it. Carefully stepping over the hatch and entering the last house, the group found a mountain of garbage gathered & 2 large rats defending their trash-mountains.

[!] Two large rats would peek out from beneath the piles of trash,

their mouths snarled towards the group, showing their jagged teeth as

They blocked their way to investigate the house further

.AD_4nXcYhNg0Dz3Fhyme8LUJ34Y98VhwkIrHX9F22Vb-njcSJOCq_eXHQxeLFsZq75d4-Seklg6StFb3tbAHsU8Mr5B1-3azRgmH5pzT9JSijffoo-DAEUZXaEilTqGNG0JVqPfy4JiNMB26TBPM3H7V9peW9X9r?key=LKO1JIdADXbGIXG7bxw9qw

However, with some questioning by the Druii and bribes with beet - the rats would allow the group to dig through the heaps of trash, finding a blasting potion & a key to the iron-hatch in the Evicted house.

This is where the group would feel the first rumble & hear something collapsing down under. Perhaps there was something large in the sewers, thrashing around? Or maybe years of negligence had lead to the walls collapsing as the support beams decayed. Before descending down the broken hatch, the group looked around in the alleyways & found 2 injured moles to whom they cared for & bandaged.

The Sewers:
When the group finally got into the sewers, the smell of rot and decay became stronger. The sewers had overgrown with vegetation & the water was a sickly green with a thick, yellowish smog hovering over it. Few put on air-purifier masks, some used scarves and clothing they had. Most suffered through it.

However, the group would find an obstacle before them - part of the wall had caved in & didn’t allow them to explore further. Luckily, they had blasting potions on them to clear it. Unluckily, another path would close somewhere in the sewers.

When they stepped through the man-sized hole in the rubble, they’d find a group of undead standing up from the water. The same some had seen through the iron-hatch above. A swift fight would ensue, where luckily no one was hurt as the weapons the skeletons wielded had corroded with time & humidity. One of them was odd however, choosing to wield a spork & a chef’s hat.

[!] As the rubble & smoke clears,

the group would see skeleton’s emerging from the water.

Few of them were armed. Some of them were missing limbs.
AD_4nXdOESMijj8hWkm601GCN3irjXpRLSNzZa_oexap8jDVup5KrS4J2wOm9mdu5YR9ba4SP6Mm6H3Ng1TCPsjFegAQZHi8BEVSF0cnaH4Yqzf_bSHyOGcuEsd7hoqklOBUAE9mWfeNgM_kIYfbLpv7mur31dgz?key=LKO1JIdADXbGIXG7bxw9qw

Venturing onwards, the group would find 2 more blocked passages - one of them seemed to be more intact, a wooden beam holding up most of the rubble allowing them to crawl under it. There, they found one of the Hexes I had accidentally dropped down into the sewers many years ago. I allowed the finder to keep it.

The Headcollector:

While exploring the sewers, the group happened upon a pile of skulls. Both walls and floor were decorated with bones of descendants and animals alike, some of them still having skin & brain-matter attached to them. Among them they also discovered the head that belonged to the beheaded man in the Workshop. Apparently it was the same man who tried to assassinate Queen Adalia I during the Heartland days.

The group also met a large undead & bloated Uruk that had decorated himself with the skulls. Perhaps he was the cause of both the bandit & the worker above?

[!] Before you stands a large, 8ft tall and bloated undead Uruk.
Yellow pus pours out of the many cuts in his flesh.

Covering his stomach is an old iron shield,

The belt around it is decorated with decomposing heads.

Around the Orc’s neck are coiled together spines.

On his head, a fur-edged iron cap with a pointy tip.

For a moment,

He lifts up a collection of bones in his hand.
As if he’s lifting a lantern, to see better in the dark.

His blank gaze falls upon you for a moment,
before he raises his large Ax to strike.
AD_4nXfTUT0UhaKaVHk5_nJeBhyoM4n-NwfwEgobjdDym4TBYwekvh6kB5bBea9u2cgIj-EZUGgqeW0arzrAiLNlPcuBBW-3xHV2m3S6p9HEfAmJiiU9ihCg6QmZ2Atat1YENi_Q2EQZ7zgfKboiVVBZ8s8_8oJe?key=LKO1JIdADXbGIXG7bxw9qw

The details on how the undead creature was defeather are hazy, however it seems like he managed to cause some trouble - charging into the group & body-slamming them & knocking down the arc’s above to rain debris on the party. Apparently he even fell upon someone when he was slain. In the end, no one was seriously hurt & the group even managed to retrieve the ghost’s skull - the ghost rewarding the person who brought it to him.

The group also found the source of the smog & perhaps the undead activity in the sewers - a crack in the wall big enough for a single person to slip into. Some say the half-ghoul they first encountered disappeared into it the dark passage that lead deeper bellow the sewers.

[!]For now, it’s been sealed.

But perhaps in the future we should send a group down there

to investigate & purify the place proper ?

OOC:

Spoiler

((My bad if you find gramatical errors))

Thank you to everyone who took part - it was the first time i ran the event multiple times & boy did i learn a lot. Especially when it comes to the type of event: it being exploration in first half and combat in the second.

With the first group - there were too many people for me & i got overwhelmed. Sorry i didn't get to you all and to have you all do cool shit. It was also sort of beta-run i guess? with me changing things & tweaking a little for the next time. Only in the 2nd half did things pick up.

With the second - I myself wasn't clear enough with directions & descriptions, the group ending up not fighting any rewards(I said 'chests' but they were all in barrels) & skipping content i had planned out. 2nd half did go pretty well though, with the fastest kill time on the 'Boss'.

Third one was definietly the most succssesful one. The party size was manageable & i managed to be descriptive & answer the many questions.

It is also why it probably ran the longest.

If i get premission, i'll be doing part 2 to this event - it probably being a 4-people party old-school dungeon type. So keep an eye out o7
(Think Petsch2k event-line but smaller, claustrophobic, clunkier & less cool rewards)

Feel free to leave IRP or OOC feedback bellow o7

Update: Have gotten premission for Part 2 - it'll come within the next 2 weeks. Look into Numendil or Petra discord for when it comes out o7
