Spoiler

sorry this post doesn't look better i spent half the day in the hospital lol

Upon this day, my 18th nameday, I find that this shall be the final time I hold the name of Vuiller. I weep for my blood kin as I see them sign away their lives in the pursuit of honor, and I will weep when they fall. I, however, refuse to be apart of those who fall. If I am unable to save my house, as I was destined to as the first born of the Heir of Vuiller, then I at the very least will save my future kin from slaughter and a sure demise. I will provide my future kin with all the opportunities available to one who is not merely trying to survive the horrors of war. They will live peaceful lives, and find great safety and virtue under the light of GOD.

I weep. I weep for my family, for my mother and father which I imagine I may never see again. I weep for the grandfather I had learned much from, I weep for the future that I now renounce, for it was all I knew. I pave my way now in new lands, with new friends, family, guidance, and continue to pray that my family seeks God’s mercy.

On this day, I renounce all claims to any titles I may have inherited as an heiress to Vuiller. I no longer bare the name Vuiller.

To my cousin, the Prince Lothar, specifically, I am sorry.

Lenora reads through the missive, a sad smile on her face. She was proud of her cousin, for the courage it must have taken her to send out.

"You've made the right choice, Aera..." she murmurs down at the missive, being sure to show it to her brother and sister before tucking it away. "Do not let anyone tell you otherwise..."

Aera's youngest Novellen cousin held her own copy of the missive, taking to Lothar's side. Amadea had never been close with her Vuiller kin, but as she peered up at her brother, she could not help but feel saddened. "How come she's leaving? Will she come back when everything is over?" She paused, now seeming rather anxious as she gripped onto Lothar's arm. "Our family is going to be okay, right? Right, Lothar?"

That's how things work. - You are brave, really brave, Aera." Aurelia said, her face showing admiration.
