adamc2000 1385 Share Posted June 6, 2025 Eid Mubarak, LOTC. Hey everyone! I just wanted to take a moment today, both as a player and a person, to say Eid Mubarak to those celebrating. For those unfamiliar with it, I wanted to share a little about what this day means and why it’s so special to millions of people around the world, including myself. Today is Eid al-Adha, the “Festival of Sacrifice.” It’s one of the two major holidays in Islam, the other being Eid al-Fitr, which comes after Ramadan. Now I know I know you are all are probably asking “HOLY CRAP! Adam is back?!” yeah yeah…. I don't know how myself, but y'all somehow dragged me back into LOTC… I had touched grass and enjoyed it, but now it seems I'm going back with you all in a hermit lifestyle and never talk to anyone outside again, like covid lockdowns….. ANYWAYS! Let's get back to why we are all here! Eid Al-Adha commemorates the story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), peace be upon him, who was asked by God to sacrifice his beloved son as a test of obedience. It’s a story many people from different traditions might recognize. So today, in memory of that moment, Muslims around the world perform the Qurbani, the sacrifice of a sheep, goat, cow, or camel, and divide the meat into three parts, one for the family, one for friends and neighbors, and one for those in need. It's not about the act alone, but the values behind it: generosity, humility, devotion, and care for others. It’s also the day that marks the culmination of the Hajj pilgrimage, one of the greatest acts of worship in Islam. Right now, millions of people in Makkah are gathered together in unity, equality, and peace, wearing simple white garments with no distinction of class or race, standing side by side as one humanity before their Creator. I know LOTC is a diverse place. We come from different cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs, and that’s something I truly appreciate. So, I don’t share this to preach or push, but rather to open a little window into something sacred to me, and maybe help someone out there understand a neighbor or a friend just a bit better. To my fellow brothers and sisters in Islam, may Allah accept your sacrifice, your prayers, your patience, and your striving. May this day be one of peace, forgiveness, and spiritual renewal. Hug your family if you can. Reach out to the ones you miss. Eat good food and be present in the moment. To everyone else! Thanks for reading. Thanks for being a part of a community where people can share parts of who they are, even if it’s through pixels and roleplay. And sacrifice it and give its meat to other players, doesn't matter what irp faith or reason, just be hospitable, there are starving players with no food than you think!
