OVERVIEW

Imperial businesses are the backbone of the empire’s economy. Seeing such, the Crown wishes to encourage entrepreneurs to develop novel businesses that fulfill the demands of the imperial populace. At the discretion of the Imperial Crown, the Imperial Treasury henceforth launches its newest program: The Dragon’s Den.

Entrepreneurs wishing to start a business, or those who own an existing business, may petition the Treasury with an application, as detailed below. Applicants will be given consideration based on the criteria explained below. Those who excel at the criteria will be given interviews with a panel of Treasury administrators. Interviews may include a demonstration of wares, please have these ready when presenting.

Those chosen as award-winners of the Dragon’s Den will be given:

  • One guaranteed storefront in the next city built by the Imperial Crown.
  • 2 years of tax exemption in the next city built by the Imperial Crown (applied to the storefront).
  • 1,000ƒ immediately to help grow the business.

Deadlines are rolling and there is no firm date of closure. There may be multiple winners, if the Treasury deems multiple candidates are competitive.

Criteria

Imperialness

Imperialness is defined in two parts. First, it indicates that the applicant is a devout imperial who lives in the empire, owing his loyalty to the Crown. Those from beyond the Empire of Man or those who have questioned loyalties are not eligible for the awards of this commission. Second, this implies a fidelity to the Church and the values it represents. Businesses who exclusively tailor to debauchery or uncouth practices will be heavily weighted against, if not ineligible. Veterans or active-duty members of the guard, in good standing, are considered with extra weighting.

Novelty

There are plenty of businesses. This program is meant to find unique businesses that are not just another tavern or bread vendor. We are looking for businesses that tailor to interests, not those who pander to general interests and sell things like basic food, minerals, and saddles. Think outside the box and come up with ideas that could attract citizens numbed by the average merchant cart.

Profitability

Part of doing business is making a profit. While the Imperial Treasury takes no portion of the profits from award-winners, it does look to see if a business is financially viable before awarding a prize. Long stints of inactivity from a merchant can leave a business ruined, and will be factored into account.

Demographic

Name of business: Nastoria's Not-So-Nefarious Novel Collection of Novel's and Novelties! - or Nastoria's Novelties for short.
Owner of business: Elijah Nastoria

Years operating: 2-3? Maybe 4? I bought up a property when Grense was pasted in.

Do you own a storefront? If so, where is it located?: Swann Ave. 3

Do you own a stall? If so, where is it located?: N/A

Do you own multiple stalls?: N/A
Do you own stalls outside of the Empire of Man?: No

Do you reside in the Empire of Man? If so, provide your address?: The Tree Outside of the Northern Gate

Are you, or were you ever, a member of the Imperial Guard?: No

Business Details

What does your business provide?: We provide books, trinkets, potions, novelty items and such. This also includes, childrens toys, fancy ornate trinkets, birthday presents. Fun RP items!
How is this different from other shops?: I really want to focus on providing a place where children can hang out and buy cool things. I was always interested in those candy stores that kids will just run into and maybe hang out in. My vision for a building would be if Barnes and Nobles, A Candy Shop, and a Root Beer / Ice Cream / Soda Bar had a baby.

Do you have other employees?: None so far but Im always looking to hire.

Your Lift Pitch
Provide the Treasury with a short pitch about why we should choose to aid your business?:

Nastoria’s Novelties aspires to be a place unlike any other, a shop of joy and wonder for all ages. Whether young or old, every patron will find something to spark their delight within our doors.

We offer a truly unique experience: shelves of books for learning and leisure, a cheerful spot for light refreshments, and a wide variety of wares such as trinkets, toys, gifts, and curiosities, each chosen to bring a touch of magic into everyday life (metaphorically of course...).

With your aid, we can continue building not just a shop but a place of imagination, community, and wonder for the people of the Empire! ~

What does your business provide?:

V.M. Wizardry and more is a store for both mundane and magical. We sell all kinds of supplies for our Imperial Mages and those practicing mundane or miscellaneous arts. We also sell high variety items and herbs for alchemical crafts as well as appliances for the imperial scholars who study our material world. To our license individuals we sell enchantments and materials to assist in rituals!

How is this different from other shops?:

we intend to not only sell mundane alchemy but magical items and bobs from across the world. Showing that we are a artisans shop at heart with strange bobs and inventions.

Do you have other employees?: 1+

Your Lift Pitch
Provide the Treasury with a short pitch about why we should choose to aid your business?:

The Empires finest work with mages today. As many despise magic. Rightfully so. We intend to not sell MOSTLY magical products but simple crafts and items that support our magically enhanced soldiers and court mages within the Empire. We also intend to be a store front to support the Empire with maintaining and protecting magical artifacts and destroying them, we intend to pay people who turn in illegal unregistered magical artifacts (enchanted or cursed) so we in our store may in fact be able to destroy them.

The treasury should invest in the ability to maintain the Empire strong and powerful. As such our store helps those mages and slayers of the paranormal with our supplies of both magical and alchemical.

Vivien seemingly filled out the form, she half expected to never get an anwser, maybe because she’s doing this all wrong. However she perfumed the letter with a professional scent of honey and mint and sent it off to the treasury institution for them to further document.
