TO STAND AGAINST

"One day, Phillip, you are going to change the world," were the last words his mother spoke to him. His mother, and his father, were taken by knights of the Empire. And he had never seen them again.

 

He was promoted to Junge Garde within just a few years of "serving" the Imperial Army. He had sent the crows he had trained his entire life to go find other like-minded people, and he had garnered himself a small rebellion. The death of Lorena de Senna was only the beginning, or so he thought.

He had spoken to barrowlords, he had conspired with Norlanders, he had worked with the Salvian bandits.

And none of it, was enough.

 

He told himself, that once they arrived upon Azuras, things would change. With hope of a ruined Empire in his heart, he set off upon his own boat for the new continent, alongside the rest of the great migration. 

Then the storm struck.

 

And Phillip Vale, the man who had sworn to bring down the Empire, was no more, taken by the waters.

 

No letters were left, for he had expected to arrive upon Azuras safely to continue his undercover operation.

And the world would never know, and the world would continue on.

Hi guys! Sorry for the sudden PK post out of nowhere for those who had RPed with Phillip before.

If you didn't know already, Phillip was an undercover agent trying to bring down the Empire from the inside. If you ever thought of him as suspicious for trying to lure people outside the gates... it's because the Salvian bandits were waiting to attack those he lured outside.

Alas, I simply cannot find the time to dedicate myself to such a deep and complex character alongside my other two characters. I really looked forward to building a complex narrative within the Empire, killing off characters one by one, but I just don't have the time or motivation for that anymore.

So, this is my short yet sweet goodbye to Phillip, who died an unremarkable death. The world won't remember him, or know of the big dreams he had.
