IMPERIAL DECREE

 

On the Defense of Our Land

Proclaimed and Decreed by

His Imperial Majesty, Tiberias I, Emperor of Man

 

9th of Horen’s Calling, 625 AA

 

✠ HEED, ALL LEAL SONS OF HOREN ✠

 

It is Our sacred prerogative to ensure that the dominions of the Empire are steadfastly governed and vigilantly defended. In such pursuit, We issue this decree to appoint those of proven fidelity and stature to the charge of Our Imperial territories, codify their responsibilities and privileges, and ensure the realm remains bound in strength and unity.

The Adelmen and Their Charge

 

An Adelman is appointed solely by Our Imperial Writ, and may only be dismissed at Our pleasure. The title is neither inherited nor transferrable, but held only by the pleasure of the Emperor.

 

Each Adelman shall preside over a single Imperial Territory, and from among its vassals lords, cities, and people, shall, in the event of an imperial campaign or foreign invasion, draw men and material for the assembly of a host to prosecute the defense or conquests of Our realm.

The Adelmot and the Privilege of Counsel

 

In reward for this solemn duty, every Adelman shall hold a seat in the Adelmot, or Elder Assembly. In the Adelmot the voices of the Adelman shall be heard not as lords contending for dominion, but as guardians of the Empire’s peace and might.

 

In assembly or by writing, they may render counsel to the Crown on the declaration of wars and invasions, the ratification of treaties of defense or mutual arms, and any additional considerations thought relevant and worthy by the Imperial Crown.

 

Further, each Adelman is to be given a golden baton, enrobed in velvet, signifying their authority to muster men. They shall also be permitted, in times of war, to appoint one man to carry the banner of their Adelgrond into combat.

First Adelmen of the Empire

 

By this Writ, We define the Adelgronds, or Elder Grounds, to which each Adelman is to draw from to assemble their host:

✠ The Adelgrond of Middenland - Consisting of the lands in or surrounding the Imperial City of Rittersburg, to include the towns of Heffenberg and Tiberian’s Platt.

✠ The Adelgrond of Grevesland - Consisting of the lands held under the Archduchy of Alba, to include the City of Saint Godwinsburg, Margravite of Schwyz, County of Dover, County of Trier, Barony of Artois, and Barony of Owynsburg.

✠ The Adelgrond of Schwarzenau - Consisting of the lands held under the Principality of Blackvale, to include the Castle of Zwartsteen, Principality of Myrine, County of Silasia, and Barony of Rethel.

✠ The Adelgrond of Gelimar - Consisting of the lands held under the Principality of Reinmar, to include the City of Leonstadt, Duchy of Kanunsberg, Viscounty of Wesenburg, and Barony of Brandthof.

✠ The Adelgrond of Edelmark - Consisting of the Raevirlands, to include the Duchy of Kvasz, Duchy of Valwyck, the Barony of Ghaestenwald and the Town of Tarnavon.

First Adelmen of the Empire

 

By this Writ, We appoint the first Adelmen of the Empire of Man, whose names and titles follow, to serve at Our pleasure and by Our command:

 

✠ The Adelman of Gelimar - His Princely Highness, Erwin Barclay, Prince of Reinmar

✠ The Adelman of Grevesland - His Royal Highness, Edward Alstion, Archduke of Alba

✠ The Adelman of Middenland - His Imperial Highness, Hadrian Tiberias, Duke of Grense

✠ The Adelman of Schwarzenau - His Princely Highness, Martius van Aert, Prince of Blackvale

✠ The Adelman of Edelmark - His Imperial Highness, Johannes Marius, Duke of Hollyhold

 

These men are henceforth charged with the defense of their territories and the faithful execution of all Imperial Orders.
