Adelemphii 1766 Share Posted November 2, 2025 Dynamic Nameplates: A QOL Minecraft Mod Hello hello. Back again, thank you for filling out my census it was very insightful. Today I want to introduce my new QOL project for us roleplayers, DynamicNameplates. It is a mod which allows you to tweak how nameplates for players and entities are rendered. You can toggle them on or off, use three different modes for them to display, and tweak settings how you please using an optional mod called ModMenu. Features: Hide nameplates unless players are detected by your gaze, proximity, or awareness zone Three rendering modes: Crosshair Mode - Nameplate shows only when directly targeted Cube Mode - Shows when within a widening “cone of vision” Area Mode - Simple distance-based visibility Separate close-range and long-range behavior Fully configurable distance, angles, and scaling Toggle key + hold-to-show key ModMenu support for easy in-game configuration Client-side only - No server installation required Unfortunately for those who play on 1.21.10 (all 1 of you who responded) and those on Forge, this mod currently only supports Fabric 1.21.5 to 1.21.8. For those interested in using it, here are the download links: Modrinth: https://modrinth.com/mod/dynamicnameplates CurseForge: https://legacy.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/dynamicnameplates And here is a showcase of the mod in action.

Holyland 3650 Share Posted November 2, 2025 What's your thoughts on making it so that, between two modes (close-range and long-range), you could have it so that you can see the Character Name of the person at close distance, but just their username at long distance? I don't really like to have character names on as the nameplate on LOTC, but I might find it useful if I could see their RP names up close when I look at them, so then that way I can type out their name without having to do /persona view first or check through all the names of the people I'm RPing with ahead of typing out something.

I was looking into this but it doesn't seem to be easily doable due to how LoTC modifies the information packet to send to the client, and I couldn't find a way to get another player's username without trickery/them being staff :(
