Interior of the Temple of Saints Johann and Nicolas, 625 AA

Spoiler

As the Waldenic peoples of Reinmar built the city of Leonstadt brick by brick, it was a priority that the faithful have a sanctum where they may congregate to share in prayer and spiritual growth. Located in the beating heart of Leonstadt, the Temple of Saints Johann and Nicolas was erected among the first amenities of the city to serve the spiritual needs of the devout Reinmaren peoples and any fellow travelers sharing in faith. In the month of Sun’s Smile in 625 AA under the new Tiberian Calendar, its name was formally selected.

The temple shall be the seat of the ecclesiastical Parish of St. Brandt-Caius which is presently defined as being within the confines of the Principality of Reinmar. While the parish itself is to be shepherded by Father Martin Alstion, the parish is a subordinate to the Magistrate of Lemonshire currently being administered by Magister Avartagh.

The inclusion of St. Johann as namesake refers to the long departed Duke of Reinmar, Johann Erich Barclay, born in 1826 who lived a lifestyle of martial integrity, devout faith, and submission to Church authority under the Everard VI Pontificate. Chief among his lived spiritual accomplishments was the personal protection of High Pontiff Everard VI during the beginning of the Michaelite Schism, denouncing and disinheriting anti-Pontiff Michael from House Barclay as the Patriarch of House Barclay leading to Michael renouncing his schism, slaying darkspawn and partaking in regular pilgrimage. His spiritual importance and ability to serve as a role model of virtue for the Waldenic peoples cannot be understated and it’s for that reason that he was chosen to be a patron of the temple in Leonstadt.

Likewise, the inclusion of St. Nicolas refers to Nicolas Barclay, born in 1778, in New Reza who likewise lived a lifestyle of martial integrity and devout faith but he had also served in the religious military orders: the Order of All-Saints and its successor the Order of Exalted Owyn as a high-ranking officer. Further, he also served High Pontiff Owyn III as Pontifical Secretariat. He would be slain as a martyr in defence of the assembled clergymen in the Red Diet of Karosgrad in 1806. Both sharing similar lives and stalwart dedication to the faith, it seemed appropriate to pair him with Johann as role models of Virtue and have thus earned them their place as namesakes and ultimately saintly patrons of the temple.

We shall be holding a two-part ceremony to formally consecrate the temple and give it the sanctification that it deserves and requires as a place of worship and spiritual instruction. The first part shall consist of the sacrament of consecration itself and a sacrament to make holy water of the entryway basin. The second part of the ceremony shall consist of a mass that shall concurrently serve as a vigil for the departed and most especially the late Bishop Josefina. Concluding the ceremony shall be an opportunity for the faithful to undergo private confession.

The consecration shall take place in Horen’s Calling of 628 ((6pm EST November 12th, 2025)). All of the faithful are invited to attend.
