Following the signs to the Guild Halls outside Kal'Baraz, the ticks of a roulette pill tapping in its revolution on the wheel and the golden chimes of the slot machines ting out in a lively clamor among the grumbles, shouts, and cheers of dwarves. It's time to test your skill--and your coin--in the nation's redstone casino.

The Pit Boss opens her arms, welcoming all who wish to try their hand at the games. Prizes of ores, foods, and sneaky special items await, as well as what mina can be multiplied.

How to Play

SLOT MACHINES

1.   Buy a MLC Ticket (just 2 mina each!)
2.   Throw the ticket into the first slot machine, with the book illustrated above its face.
3.   The machine will chime and spit out a prize!
4.   The prize might even be a token for the next tier slot machine, matching the illustration on the next machine, which contains better prizes.

We also have, for a limited time, a slot machine that provides meats, feathers, wool, and leather. For the Grand Opening, we'll be giving out tickets for both machines, and anyone can ask for more food tickets from the Pit Boss, but outside of the event, the food tickets are a mere one mina each.

ROULETTE

There are twenty-six slots the ball on the wheel can fall into once it's done spinning. The croupier/dealer will spin the wheel, and what it lands on determines who wins, depending on how they bet. Bets odds are:

❖  #- Number: 12 to 1
❖  R/B + Number: 25 to 1
❖  Red/Black: 1 to 1
❖  Even/Odd: 1 to 1
❖  Spring (1-3): 3 to 1
❖  Summer (4-6): 3 to 1
❖  Fall (7-9): 3 to 1
❖  Winter(10-12): 3 to 1
❖  R/B + Season: 7 to 1

The player can bet on any of these or any number except the Unlucky 13s.

Spoiler

OOC: HOW IT WORKS MECHANICALLY

Players call their bets before or during the wheel spin. Once it stops, it's too late to call a bet.

The dealer (behind the bar) hits the lever to spin and stop the spin, and when it stops, they also roll with the command /roll 13. If they get any number between 1-12, the number is called as what color it landed on and the number rolled (if the ball stopped on black, and they rolled a 10, then the number is 10 black).

If it hits 13, however, it's understood to hit one of the "Unlucky 13s" on either side of the wheel, and no one wins that round.

Bets are made by announcing the number and placing the bet with the croupier. The croupier makes note of these, and pays out as needed after the wheel stops.

SPEED THROW

Bring your own arrows, javelins, snowballs, eggs, or buy some snowballs from the nearby shop, and try your hand at Speed Throw! Perhaps the most simple of the redstone games, one merely needs to pull the lever and the piston will lower and rise before the target. A bell will call when you hit the target successfully. Try against the other dwarves and see who gets the most successful hits.

Of course, there are games outside of redstone available. Tables are out for various dice games ((OOC: Huge thanks to Crunchiest_Leaf for new dice plugin! Use /dice roll for any d6 games!)) Here are some example games below:

CHO-HAN

Spoiler

1.  Either request a dealer from the house, or assign the role of dealer to one in your group.
2.  The dealer rolls two six-sided dice within a cup, hiding their value from the players (Rolls in Whisper).
3.  While the dice are hidden, the players place bets on if their total sum will be odd, or even.
4.  If everyone bets even, or everyone bets odd, no one wins the pot and the round is re-done.
5.  When the dice are revealed, those with the correct bet all take an equal portion of the pot.

BLACKJACK

Spoiler

1.  Either request a banker from the house, or each player rolls one 10-sided die and the person with the lowest number is the banker. All players call their bets.
2.  Each player rolls two 10-sided dice, adding up the numbers and writing down the total.
3.  After the initial roll of 2 dice, a player may choose to roll an additional 10-sided die as many times as they wish, adding the resulting number from each roll to their total.
4.  If at any point the total exceeds 21, the player goes "bust" and loses out on the pot- Even if the banker goes "bust" too.
5.  The banker takes their turn last, after all players have settled on their totals.
6.  On their turn, the banker will roll like the rest of the players, but they must keep rolling until their total equals 17 or greater- And stop rolling once they hit that point. If the banker busts (goes over 21), all players with 21 or less win an equal portion of the pot.
7.  If the banker does not bust, all who have a higher number than the banker, but have not exceeded 21, win an equal portion of the pot. Those who have a lower number lose.
8.  The banker wins all ties.

BALUT / "DICE POKER"

Spoiler

In this game, players use dice as their ‘hand’ of cards. They roll a number of dice, and check against the scoring rules if they have achieved a scoring combo. Then, if they wish to try for a higher score, or have not achieved a combo, they can choose to keep some of their dice and reroll others- Players can roll up to 3 times per round.

Scoring is as follows:

❖  Fours - Every die face of four scores 4 points.
❖  Fives - Every die face of five scores 5 points.
❖  Sixes - Every die face of six scores 6 points.
❖  Straight - If all five dice are in a sequence, such as 2-3-4-5-6, 50 points are scored.
❖  House - A triple, and a pair. For example, rolling 3 fours, and 2 sixes. The sum of all five dice is the score. (In this example, 24).
❖  Choice - The score is simply the sum of all five dice.
❖  Balut - Five of all the same face, for example 5 threes. Scores 30 points.

Even if one’s hand contains several different scoring combinations, one must select a single one to score by- Usually the one that offers the most points. For example, if one had a Straight, they would not add additional score for their Fours. Once a player has used a scoring combination in a round, they cannot select it again in a future round. If one selects to score by Choice on their first round, they cannot score by it again on their second.

Every time a player has a hand that does not achieve any available scoring combinations, they must ‘scratch off’ one of the combinations they have not used yet. For example, if one has a hand that cannot be given a score, a player could choose to remove Sixes from their scorecard. Then, they would not be able to score by Sixes in a future round.

The game goes typically as follows:

1.  The first player rolls 5 six-sided dice. They can either keep all their dice, reroll all their dice, or select which dice to keep and which ones to reroll. A player may then choose to keep their score or reroll certain dice a second time, if they wish.
2.  The player then selects their scoring combination, notes down their score, and can no longer use that combination in future rounds.
3.  Play rotates to the next player on the left, who repeats the process.
4.  The game continues until all players have either scratched off or completed every possible score combination, and cannot achieve any more. This usually results in 7 rounds.
5.  Highest total score at the end of the game wins the pot.
