✷ THE PARTITIONS OF AUTHORITY

✷ The Common Law: Offenses against people and property, mainly enforced by the Blades of Malin under the punishment tier system.

 

✷ The Sacred Law: Offenses against the Creator, the evarn’sae, and the sanctity of el’Taynuel, under the jurisdiction of the Sun Circle and the tir’sairan.

 

✷ The Martial Law: Offenses concerning the Blades of Malin and military order, held under the jurisdiction of el’Sirame and his appointed captains, and it does not supersede Sacred Law.

✷ THE ELDER COUNCIL - HEIAL’ELAETAH

In keeping with Acaelanite law and Elven tradition, the Lordship of Aelwen is administered through a body of recognized elders.

 

The Heial’elaetah, or Elder Council, serves as the highest governing body of the realm. The Council guides el’Sirame, interprets the law, and maintains the preservation of memory, ancestry, culture, and the maintenance of spiritual and natural balance.

 

✦ The Throne of the Sanctum

el’Sirame (Adriel aen Araleth), Autumn Prince of Aelwen

The final authority of the Sanctum and the sole source of statute. The Throne confirms decrees, oversees the military, and reserves judgement in matters of spiritual treason and sovereignty.

 

✦ The Elder Council - Heial’elaetah

The Sohaer | sirame ito Sohaer’leh

Chancellor and Saneyir of the Heial’elaetah: Princess Serelia Tundrak

Presiding over the Elder Council is the Sohaer, who serves as First Speaker and Steward of the Council. She coordinates the offices of the Sanctum, ensuring decrees are executed and keeping the realm’s workings aligned with sacred purpose. The Sohaer presides over the Council of Elders in session and serves as el’Sirame’s chief civil advisor.

 

Duties of el’Sohaer include:

• Presiding over sessions of the Heial’elaetah
• Acting as the voice of the Council in matters of ceremony and diplomacy
• Day-to-day management of Aelwen.

 

✦ THE ELDERS OF THE HEIAL’ELAETAH

Those seated within the Elder Council are recognized as the bearers of a particular charge, entrusted to them for the good of the realm.

(Keeper of Wealth and Provision)

The Elder of the Treasury safeguards the material well-being of the Sanctum, overseeing wealth, resources, and land held in trust for the people. Stewards ensure newcomers are housed, supplies are distributed justly, and the needs of the community are met.

The Elder of Festivity tends to the social and civic spirit of Aelwen, ensuring that life within the Sanctum remains vibrant and shared. They organize gatherings, ceremonies, and celebrations that bind the people together.

(Keeper of Justice, Courts, and Proclamations)

The Elder of Law and Record serves as the keeper of justice, precedent, and the written word. They oversee courts and judgments, record rulings, and issue official proclamations on behalf of the Sohaer. Acting as both judge and chronicler, they ensure that law in Aelwen always remains consistent, remembered, and aligned with covenant and custom.

The Elder of the Blades watches over the defense of Aelwen and the discipline of the Blades of Malin. They oversee training, readiness, and vigilance, ensuring the sanctity of the sanctuary. Though war is rare, their presence is a reminder that peace endures only through watchfulness.

Elder of Nature: Archdruid Zaelyn Arvellon

(Archdruid of Aelwen)

The Elder of Nature, known as the Archdruid of Aelwen, is the steward of the land, the forest, and the living sanctuary that is Aelwen. They oversee the health of the natural world. She guides growth, restoration, and environmental balance and is the voice of the Sun Circle in the Elder Council.

Elder of the Arcane: Archmage Mayelasiol aen Tarem

(Archmage of Aelwen)

The Elder of the Arcane presides over the Great Library and the study of magic within Aelwen. As archmage of Aelwen, they regulate arcane practice, preserve dangerous knowledge, and guide scholars in study. Their duty is to ensure magic serves understanding and preservation, never excess or corruption.
