What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

1- Grammar

-----------

I think grammar is important, because i think no one wants a guy in Lord Of The Craft saying

"gve me minas plz or i kill u"

If that happens, we would lose members and get alot of reports for this. Grammar is also important so it describes like half of your personality, if a guy/girl says the sentence above, i can know that he/she is probably a 12 years old kid and lazy to write full sentences. It is also important so we can understand him/her. I also won't accept people answering Questions as "Yes" or "No". You just say Yes or No, you dont say the reason. For example:

Can your character build?: Yes

This had to be:

Can your character build?:Yes, he can build small forts. But he cannot build castles.

-----------

2- Punctuation

------------

Punctuation is important too, it is like Grammar, we wouldn't understand him if he was saying something like "hey you how are you i want to kill you and be an assassin hahahhahah now go die". It is realy weird, isn't it? Look at it, its changing to a subject from another while its not done. Sometimes people make mistakes, I can forget them, but not mistakes like these:

How did you hear about us?: "i heard aboutyou us ing mine craft serversite" This is non-acceptable. It would make it difficult to understand.

------------

3- Realistic Roleplay Skills

------------

Well, first of all this is a roleplaying server. The players need to have realistic roleplay skills, not like this conversation:

"Assassin: Hai. Im going to kill you."

"Farmer: Why?"

"Assassin: Because i feel like it."

This would be weird. Killing a farmer without no reason at all. If your going to kill someone, make it with a reason. Like if he robbed you, or killed your friend etc. The player needs to have some experince so he will join the best RolePlay server in Minecraft (My opinion.). Like if the experince is:

"I never played any roleplay games, but i think this will help me build my roleplay skills."

I would really like this. It tells you the person wants to join Lord Of The Craft to learn, so he/she thinks its a server that teaches something. But if the bio is:

"I played this this this this (Like he lists all the roleplay games..)" This is probably a lie.

------------

4- Minecraft Experince

------------

Well, the players need at least 1 month experince i think. Because we don't want a 1 day old new guy coming at us and bugging us about how to make this or that. Our players would get annoyed and then kill the new guy probably. And then the new guy will start raging and try to kill everyone. This would be bad. I don't want any of our players to get annoyed. The new guy would even grief in the server, atleast try. Or he can try to kill you and steal your items.

-------------

5- Character (Bio, Appearance, Personality etc.)

-------------

This is important too, because you can learn about the character in the bio. If i was in this team, i wouldn't accept a guy with a killer bio. I mean if he gets into the server, he would say im a killer and kill everyone in his way. Also i wouldn't accept a no-clothes guy in the server.. And the personality, he would call the character a psycho for example and say random things (Example: llalalala, lololol) in the server. I don't want this too. This could explain how the person will roleplay in the server. If the bio is:

"Xavion is the best SFer ever and he can kill all of the players in Aegis."

This could explain the guy would try and kill every player thats enemies to him.

If the bio is like this:

"Xavion was born in ..... He then did this and this. He went to the World Aegis to find some friends."

This would be a more good bio. It can tell the person is going to be a friendly and helpfull player.

-Great Thanks

Joe

Do they send you a pm if you get accepted or post it?

I, myself, didn't get a PM; but, if you get accepted, it gets posted on the front of this topic.

...This has yet to be updated after the first accepting wave however.

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

There are several things that imply to a good application, But out of the 5, the following would be the top:

Biography

The biograhy shows the character, shows who you will be throughout Aegis.

A Biography doesnt have to be long, 2 paragraphs minimun, but it must be indepth with the lore, and have no Metagaming or powergaming, it is the heart and soul of the application.

What do you know about Roleplaying? What is it?

The amount of bad applications i see that screw this one up is amazing, Playing RPGs like WoW and Runescape arent RP experience, Roleplaying, is mucking around when you are 5 years old, pretending to be a heroic knight.

Your ambitions

It tells what your character will be, the evil, black merchant, or the heroic Paladin against the undead, the King of the men, or the Rex of the orcs.

this shows what your character will become, as a wise man once said

You have to realize that you're not entering Aegis as an established character, you are entering Aegis to establish a character.
(That was Wyrd right?)

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?

This is Essential, to the whole application, if they say yes to this, then in the biography they powergame saying their character can shoot lightning and has the ability to turn into a pheonix, then they are not telling the truth, and they havent read the rules, and that just puts a VETO on the rest of his apps.

A screenshot of your skin

This is a very important part of the app, a Nyan cat skin isnt rp, and can make it very hard to RP with a person, you need a picture of the Character, the skin is that... Thats why you call Jadles :P

Other notes.

I'm Extremely active, and usually im home when the server is only scraping from 30-60 people, so i could always be there to accept them.

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

1. Realistic Character

The foundation of every rp player is his character, it is important to have a character that has not only good qualities, but aslo weakness. The more layers of personality quirks, morals, and physical apperance added, the better the character. The perfect character is a little vague, but I do know that a 8ft tall human with skins hard as a rock and the ability to breath fire is NOT a good character.

2. Knowing the Lore.

If you don't know the lore, you can't rp. Knowing the basic Lore is essential to any rp game. I, like many others, hate it when people throw crap in the face of everything that this server plays for. When people start trying to play as a vampire, werewolf, or a flying spagehti (I thinks thats how you spell it) monster, it is time to put your foot down and tell them to rethink their application. And, when people actually shape their character with lore, I believe that should earn them some "brownie points" when it comes to accepting them.

3. Knowing English.

You can't rp here if you don't know English. And I'm not talking about this junk that people spew out these days. I'm talking about the ENGLISH LANGUAGE. Not 'Americanese'. Or l33t speak. If you can't say a sentence without using some type of abbreviation, why should you be allowed on where clear, precise wording can mean the difference between life and death?

4. Knowing what rp is.

I can understand that this could be the first time someone is going to rp. There should be no reason to try to stop them if it is their first time. But if they come and not even know what rp is, then why should we even look at their application?(rhetorical and exagerated) Knowing what to do in rp and how it works is as equally important as knowing the lore or being realistic when it comes to making your character.

5. Asking about other servers.

If the person got banned for not following the rules there, why should we allow him here? If they are the good gm from the next server over, with great service and rp, why aren't we shaking his hand? Knowing what a person had done in the past can show us how they will act in the future.

In my humble opinion, all these are as equally important as the next. There are more rules not listed that are also pretty important.

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

1. The Understanding of Rules.

One of the big Things that gets me annoyed, is the new players who have been accepted to the server, then goes onto NO-RP Kill, Powergame, Metagame. To get accepted you have to read the rules. I read the applications it says Have you read the Rules? Yes. How do we know they have read the rules. whilst im checking through the forums I see a ban report looking at a ban report as I am always glad to see justice be made, 50% of all the ban reports, say It was my first day im sorry. Im sorry it was my first day, or he told me it was his first day. But if he read the rules the way he said so, he shouldn't of been in that situation thats why I have put this 1.

2. What does Roleplaying Mean.

I see alot on applications one of the main reason why people are getting denied is, that they havent really told us what roleplay means properly, so they deny them as I would in there case, because ofcourse you dont want people going around saying Im a race called the diamond kind. (sorry i had to include that saw it from a funny ban report) Ofcourse this is a big problem as I will admit it when I first applied for the server I failed at the What does Roleplaying Mean, because I said something pointless like I roleplay someone. I see that alot, and have actually learned alot due to this server now when I look at applications for What does Roleplaying mean, I look for awnsers such as Roleplaying is when you act our your role in a series of events, situations, etc...

3. Your Characters Skin

Now I have to admit I have seen really funny applications with a skin, such as Dora the explorer, a Naked Jesus. But the only problem is they arent RP so they will ruin the server. One of the things I hate whilst viewing an application is them saying, My skin has hood jacket etc.. Wheres the screenshot we need proof. I would deny them in this case and say try uploading to Miners need cool shoes or go in to your inventory, take a screenshot upload it to imageshack.us then add the link. Now i have had my bad encounters with NO-RP Skins, I recently just made a ban report, in which a Player wore Jeans, a Hoodie and a Creeper Face.

4. Grammar and Spelling

Now I know this isnt a school, but it really bugs me seeing players write applications no capitals, no full stops just writing on so you get confused on what your saying, being confused will make me think denied and though they probably have made a perfect application and a nice story it doesnt, make sense. if the players wrote their applications on Microsoft Word on other applications or even wrote their application on the forums, tabbed out to go on a online spellchecker, pasting it in the box and correcting the errors. Also a thing you have to remember is if a application just looked, messy no grammar, bad spelling, no sense then who would accept it. if you think about it this way if you were given a home on minecraft that looked like a grief attempt I doubt anyone would say Oh, its beautiful actually meaning they liked it. If you saw a lovely mansion given to you by someone you`d go thanks its amazing.

5. Character Bio

Now most applications I look at have very good to around great Bios but the other half dont. 2 things I dont like about Bio's is the overpowering, nobody is perfect nobody can kill 78 pigmen whilst building a house, come on be realistic and this is a rp server not some fan made server of The Bold and Beautiful. (girlfriend watches it) the other thing is saying Dean once the Prince of Oren has strived to become a lumberjack and live out in the woods of Malinor. You cant say you where once the Prince of Oren that messes up the Lore also, I once saw an application saying King Jack is struggling to remain on the throne etc.. He cannot say that as that Isnt part of the Lore so saying something like, Jack a lonely, hungry child lives out in the wild not knowing who is parents is, not knowing of language, not knowing of anything but himself finally seeks to learn what he hasnt learn. Now that was probably the worse thing I have wrote but, It was just a quick attempt to prove my point that, would be okay he isnt saying he king or prince, but saying he is a child out on the wild, (that would be a good book huh? Maybe not anyways...)

This is the end of my application I hope you enjoyed reading it and shared some views of mine, I hope I get accepted As I have put alot of effort to make sure, I get on the team, but oh well I`ll have to wait and see. Hope you pick me. Tat`ay Byeee!
