[!] Clowns. A hell of a way to go.

[!] Ashe Paleheart, 224 years old. Just another day, plans to live a peaceful life. Plans. They were just eating cake together. Together. Her soon to be wife, Salem, and close friend Darona, celebrating Salem’s 100th birthday.

The hidden hand of her mastercraft seemed, a little off, the 11th hour it seemed.

[!] Warnings came, a darkspawn raiding party. Ashe has fought their kind before, never won, they were too formidable. Even 3 on 1 they failed previously back in Cerulia. Now she’s marching in with Salem, 2 on 2. A ghoul, and what appeared to be an orc, in full armour.

“You were too slow.”

[!] They were smart. . . Not allowing the mage to channel, cornering Salem, it was said as a tournament by their leader, lies of course.

“Again, you failed.”

As she watched helplessly as her fiancees skull was reduced to mush. Her last words ingrained into her mind. . .

“I'm.. Sorry”

A druid helped, she had hoped.  The last thing she saw was the blight healing ritual. She could rest easy as she was impaled by a massive blade from the orc, disemboweling her, a loud SQUELCH echoing through the area. A blur, jade eyes in the void staring at her. Next moment she felt herself getting torn through the fleeting void, landing with a THUD as she came to.

SALEM-

The sounds of non-existent glass breaking, shattering, slamming down into the ocean of her mind.

LIVE. PLEASE. LIVE.

Ashe clawed and crawled her way to Salem, through the pain of her organs and lower body dragging behind her, her spine still barely connected. Surely the Paleheart pleaded to fate, her hand touching Salem's neck.

no pulse

A fire flared in her heart. Something hotter and brighter than before, the warmth searing her insides as white glow would briefly flare out from her heart, outwards.

Rest.

As suddenly as the white flame came, a new feeling would drown the dying Paleheart. Something so overwhelming, yet gentle. The fire would fade as it had so quickly burst out.

H-huh. . . Guess you beat me, coming in second doesn't sound so bad. . .” - “Paleheart. Keep watch over us. . . One's chapter. . . Ends at last. . .

[!] Ashe Paleheart laid still, her guts and gore, a trail behind her. Her jade eyes now as dull as stone, another bloody streak from her mouth, smoke rising from her corpse, the mortal coil no long able to hold its soul. . .

/// END OF LOG ///

?

Knee deep water surrounded the broken husk of the Paleheart, in halves, blood and gore trailing out from the stomach split. A dim ambient purple glow would pulse in the water. Lights shimmering in the distance like stars. Broken pillars of glass laid about. Half translucent figures seemed to stand around the broken husk. Arguing.

"Vy dinglestrudle. Vy should've dodged! Our body is nie as durable as it was before!" An Ashe in the white coat would reprimand another one of herself, who seemed to be wearing full plate armour.

"Vy are assuming ea could! That was an orc if nie something worse, he was already in striking distance." The armoured Ashe snapped back. "Vy should be asking why did the mage still insist on charging that slow spell, Instead of brisk stepping?"

"It was nearly ready, ea thought ea could shoot it off before he reached us. . ." - "At least our beloved lives, right? The druid got to her!" The Ashe in robes, a staff, and witch hat asked looking back to the one in the white coat.

"Negative. Ea did not get a pulse from her corpse. . ."  She sighed, "What is the point, this is our third time here anyways. How are vy so sure we will be brought back again?" The elf paused, looking to the others who are discussing outside of the main group. "Ea say, we take our leave. . . Let go. . . We are all the same person, ea know that we want to stop, rest."

At first half of the Ashes seem to, agree. 2 centuries of getting ragdolled around, powerless to stop wars, tragedies from occuring, even to the one she loved the most. Why continue to struggle? The great beyond is right there. She's already planned all that needed to be planned, the will, the goodbye letters to all her close ones in life. . . But did she have no regrets? Leaving it all behind. . .

The Ashe in a burgundy suit would ponder behind her masquerade mask. "No. No, we can nie leave like this. Don't we have responsibilities? Dreams? What would she think if she saw us like this? Hesitating to rush towards what our worn hearts think is right? Our family and llir'an? Do nie let our moment of death chain us in place."

Murmurs would echo in the dimmed space, slowly brightening.

"Ea am nie leaving brosa Tuzic so

soon."

"Val and Caira need us there,

more than ever."

"Mea ol' magic teachers would be sad if

ea left so much earlier than them. . ."

"Ea still have so many

things to tinker and brew

with. Ea just got mea

graduation certificate!"

"The Thornfields will probably miss mea

greatly if ea left."

"Oh to mea peaceful life!"

"We still need to clear

our family's name."

"Eam hungry."

"Ea am sure her friends will need

comfort and support too! Though. . .

We might need it instead. Hehe!"

"Right, the part where we forget this moment of death in order to move on with our life."

The Ashes would converge, walking to the center as the broken husk slowly mended itself, physically and mentally, all into one once again.

"One choses to return. . . One has unfinished business. . . Spasiba, stars. . ."

"Time to get up, kirna."

Waves. . . the sound of waves, and the squaks of seagulls stir awake the Paleheart. She opens her eyes slowly. She was on a sandy beach alone, the waves softly impact against her. She grasped the sand with her left hand, it felt numb as usual, before sitting up. . . Finding herself on the shore of where Cerulia once stood.  She tried to stand. . . The same numbness she now discovered covered everything below her waist. . .

A great sense of emptiness could be felt by the elf, though she won't find out until she returned home, Viru.

Spoiler

Firstly, thank you to anyone that made it to this little spoilers, and for reading my hopeslop piece.

I mainly wrote this to get this out of my head, something whimsical and hopeful. The second reason is to get a feel for post making, before anything too serious.

Totally did not reuse the pk post draft for this.

Somewhere, somehow.

A candle flickered brighter.

A wave reached the top of the horizon.

A flower opened it's petals.

And the corpse of a fae withered.

"Keep moving my kirna. I'll wait for yer forevermore"
