Guest Share Posted December 1, 2011 People should have the common sense to know what is right and what is wrong, like in most roleplay games people have the sense to know what is possible and what isn't and suit them towards the other counter-part you are roleplaying with. xca0 3 Share Posted December 1, 2011 ^ ^ ^ "These things would also assume that the orcs hand holding the sword would be stationary, which I can tell you now in a sword fight; swords are hardly ever stationary unless you are facing an untrained novice." Swords aren't stationary (and usually sheathed) if the wielder is unaware of a hidden attacker. Let's give the bandit the element of surprise. Aviala 23 Share Posted December 1, 2011 I think it has it's pros and cons. If the world was perfect and everyone was great at roleplaying, we wouldn't need rolls. However, there are a lot of average and just.. bad roleplayers out there who try to win every fight. Without the rolling system, these people would just powergame their way out of every bad situation by just emoting something like "Kicks him on the stomach and disarms him" without letting the other one do anything. Personally, I'd love to be able to roleplay without rolling. But I don't think that'll happen any time soon.

Danny 2232 Share Posted December 2, 2011 I roll when I'm RP'ing with people I am commonly with, not with people I'm not... It's odd... I do roll when I'm in an inn etc, because then you can make it funner. Head_Guard_Servius stumbles, trying to push the elf off of the seat* Head_Guard_Servius has rolled 10 out of 20. Elven_Person has rolled 11 out of 20. Head_Guard_Servius stumbles further, falling past the Elf onto the stone floor. Situations like that I use it, not serious situations, like with bandits, or guards etc.
Ferebrill 14 Share Posted May 12, 2012 The roles aren't required, I think. But armour advantages can be used to metagame, like today somone made the mistake of attempting to rob me in a town, when somone else struck him with an iron sword and rolled a twenty he said that his armour was some how invincible so he didn't need to role, so the armoour advantages aren't that good
Watyll 1104 Share Posted May 12, 2012 Rolling is good for certain types of roleplay. For instance, I use it to roleplay gambling with die with my pirate char
