Landrin 0 Share Posted December 10, 2011 Out-Of-Character: Minecraft Account Name Landrin201 Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth? I did not attend minecon. How old are you? I am 17, and turn 18 in May. Time-Zone: UTC-5:00. Country of Residence: United States of America Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar? Yes, I do. But sometimes I get a little hasty, and make mistakes, especially when gaming. I am working on that. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself I feel that I must say that I am not a party person. I would rather sit at home and play Minecraft than go to a raging, wild party. That said I do enjoy having fun with my friends, to whom I am very loyal. How much time could you be on the server weekly? This honestly depends on the week. I can clock at least 7 hours a week, and at most around 35-40. My normal median is in the middle, at right around 23 hours a week. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you. Roleplaying is the act of stepping into the shoes of a fictional character in a fictional setting and undertaking fictional tasks in the attempt to advance your character’s personality and abilities inside of whatever world in which he/she exists. The point is to have fun, and develop your writing style. If writing is not a major component in the environment in which you are playing, then the ultimate objective is to help develop whatever society in which your character may exist or to “beat the game” if there is an overarching storyline. In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are. Metagaming is such a broad, broad term. It means a wild number of things. In general it is any strategy or method used which goes outside of the ruleset. It generally involves the use of outside sources to manipulate ones character. A character cannot, for example, know the military strategy (OOC) of an advancing army and make a maneuver to obviously thwart it. Powergaming is an absolute focus on the written letter of the rules, and the use of those rules to progress one’s character in a quick, unsocial way. This could include making a secondary character to progress one’s own character without the aid of other human characters. It could also simply mean that a player is concerned only for their character and does not care to roleplay with others over the progression of said character. What do you expect this server will be like? I expect an experience somewhere between that of Lord of the Rings: Online and Minecraft. I expect a place full of fun loving people who will not mind a few rookie mistakes. I also expect a challenge to the way that I RP, and I look forward to that challenge. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them? This will be my first server. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules? Yes. How did you hear about us? I found you through Google, looking for a good Minecraft server. Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you? Yes I have. I was vote number 1,910. What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name? Landrin In-Character: Character Name: Landrin What is your Race? Dwarf Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.) Landrin slammed the door of the house behind him, his rage unabated by the simple act of fury. His parents had been murdered only the day before, the villain had been caught, and no compensation was to be given. It was ridiculous. They had next to nothing in their possession. They had had very little money. They lived in a little wooden hut, for gods’ sake! They expected him to make it on his own. Landrin was only 21. He was very, very young. For a dwarf, at least. He could hardly begin, now, to make a living for himself, but he would. He pulled at his long red beard with annoyance, and muttered, "ah!" under his breath. He was sick of this city. He set himself to calming his towering temper as he walked toward the place he called his home. He would have to give that up, of course; it was only a temporary place. He would be leaving for Kal’Urguran in a few hours’ time. There he would finally live out his dreams, the dreams which he had had for years. He wanted to mine, to build, and to learn. He wanted many things, actually. But his love of building things was unequalled. He would build the finest house he could. They would see. They would all see that he was no fool who could not eek a living. But to do so he had to leave this nation, the place he called his home. Aeriel was a fine city, but he had to leave it to join his own people. The place would be missed, but he could not live out his ambitions here. He found that he was back at his house, and presently entered into the place that had been his childhood home. He looked around at the small number of possessions which his family had called theirs. He had not gone through anything yet; he would not. He would take his things and go. But something caught his eye. It was a small book which, he was sure, had not been there before. He walked over and picked it up. Inside of it were three pages of his father’s handwriting. He read through the journal once, then read through it again, shocked. His father had been WHAT? It seemed impossible. He read through it again and again. His father had given him advice, to go to his people’s capital at Kal’Uguran, but the rest… The rest seemed so impossible. He put the book in his backpack, along with what was left of their food. He was stepping out into the world at last, but to what fate he was not sure. As he closed the door for a final time, he heard a very familiar voice call, “Landrin!” He turned and smiled half-heartedly as his best friend, Taerdin, approached. The elf was an interesting character to say the least. His brown hair was tied back today. He was still mourning Landrin’s parents. “Leaving so soon, boy?” Taerdin said, his voice rough. “Aye. That I am.” Landrin said in reply. “Why leave now? You can come live with me.” The man’s eyes held hope in them. They had known each other since they had been children. This city was so full of the four races that it was almost insane. But Landrin had to leave this improbable friendship behind. “I cannot, my friend. If I do, I will become a leech attached to you.” Landrin had been learning more proper English from Taerdin from a very young age. His parents had liked the idea. They had encouraged him to continue, knowing that if he would survive in this city, it would be important for him to speak respectably. “But can’t you-“ “No, I can’t!” Landrin yelled, his temper returning. He quashed it quickly and said, “I am sorry, old friend, but I must leave. I have things which I must do.” The journal he had found told him as much. “Then I guess this is goodbye.” “Aye. It is.” Your characters ambitions: Landrin wants to be an architect. His father’s journal also outlines what he should try to do to follow in his father’s legacy, as his father had been trying for years to join the mages guild and strongly encouraged him to do so. Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do? He leaps into the fray and aids the elf without question. Your character walks up to a shop in the middle of Al'Khazar. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer? “I need some stone, friend. I am building a new house wing for a friend today.” A screenshot of your skin: http://www.planetminecraft.com/skin/dwarven-miner-396286/ Other Information: If you want a sample of my roleplaying ability, the link below will take you to the Grey Tower, a Wheel of Time roleplaying community in which I am very active. I have two characters currently active on the site (Landrin al’Kuninan and Ladin Taermic) and, if you want to see my work, I suggest reading their biographies and searching through a few posts to find them. http://www.grey-tower.net/ EDIT: When I posted my app, one paragraph of my biography was left out. I have edited it in, and thought I should make note of the mistake.
