  1. 1. Should the defenses of Laurelin be improved?

    • Yes, greater defenses will mean less Elven lives will be wasted improve them to the max!

    • No, the defenses are satisfactory if we are attacked the Wardens and the Vanguards will defend us.

    • The defenses should only be improved slightly. Its true that the defenses are not strong enough; however they are strong enough to fend off most attacks and will only need to be improved slightly.

To all citizens of our fair city

I feel that the defenses of Laurelin are a problem that must be addressed. To put it bluntly in most places it is very weak. Our outer defenses only consist of: One bridge and a wall over a moat which is fairly easy to get out of. A regular army would have only a few minor problems to overcome these defenses and an army of Undead would sweep right through it. I understand that for years they have not been a threat to Laurelin however it is not hard to see that Iblee's taint is constantly moving South. We have been blessed with the time to ready ourselves unlike many and we should make good use of it.

Signed

Royal Guard Calith Daratrine

((If we compare ourselves to Alras and Kal'Urgan we look extremely weak))

The note reads as follows:

Lauralin's defenses are insufficient. However, there is little to be done towards improving them. There is simply too much ground for the Vanguard and Wardens to cover effectively.. A better use of time and materials would be the establishment of a central keep that can retreated to in times of peril.

((When I said defenses I meant general defenses a keep would of course be one of the things to build.

A response is affixed beneath the letter, the parchment smelling faintly of tobacco.

Nonsense. Close the main gate and the two side gates, mount the walls and send a handful of soldiers to the docks. That's literally all it takes.

And Al'Khazar proved that having a strong keep doesn't stop an invasion. The trees provide vantage points for our arrows to rain, and cover for when they shoot back.

I suspect that you either haven't been around when Malinor was under threat of a siege, or you're just ignorant...

I fear he is Right the Wardens and Vanguard cannot cover all of Laurelin, The Walls Insufficient I have found multiple ways for people pass the Walls, Even with the Gate Shut we still will have hard time holding Laurelin. Getting some of my men to come to Laurelin, We got some advantages Ashur is right the Trees with help us. But the Undead a Ruthless and will stop at nothing until they get it. We need more men and better defences, we need a Rally point, I be contacting some good friends, soldiers and General I know them all, best I can get 20 - 30 but it will take time.

I already posted on this subject before, but the conclusion was that it wasn't really nessesary.

Do you truly believe it still isn't necessary as the forces of the Undead draw closer? Do you believe we could survive a siege with the defenses we have in place now?

Those whom will soon scale the walls of Laurelin are not mere mortals, they are those of the living dead, those of Zamach. Your walls will stand for a moments glance before their necronomic flames devour your walls and your city. You best be prepared. In the end, i will fight side by side with you Elves, whether it means my life or not.

Of course it is nessesary! Why do you think I started that topic in the first place?!

Sorry about that. To me it sounded like you had given up even though I now see you have not. So let us band together and convince this great kingdom invest its time wisely. We must either prepare ourselves to stand against the tides of evil or push forward and attack the enemy where it is weakest.

We all agree that we need more defenses, the only problem is that the Princes don't. They feel that the defenses are sufficient enough to ward off attackers. It is them whom you need to convince.

Is that not the point of a poll? I created this in order to show them how much the public fears for it's safety, because of the lack of defenses. Once I acquire more votes and maybe some opinions from Their Royal Highness's will I attempt to bring it up the problem in person.

You are correct the Archers need clear vantage point from which they can view the enemy. With the trees there the enemy can advance almost without having to worry about the archers trying to target them for the archers can't even see them.

I'm with the Elves to the End and I'll fight for my new Home. Still gathering men, But it true archers need a good vantage point, and we are right about the walls they can be burnt down, So this is not looking good because if they attack we won't be prepared I will try talking to the Princess about it, Wish me luck.
