Voidwalker Dhomah 37 Share Posted January 21, 2012 Out-Of-Character: Minecraft Account Name: AphoxCV Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth?: Negative. Not enough money to fly to Vegas. Watched on Livestream though! How old are you?: 20, nearing 21 soon. Time-Zone/Country of Residence: GMT -8/PST/USA Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Better than anyone I know other than my English teachers. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I'm a prospective astrophysics and astronomy student, doing some preemptive self-teaching before-hand to get myself attuned. I’m 6’3”, slim/athletic, blonde, green eyes... Don’t know if you actually want physical descriptions or not. I’m also very lazy and spend a lot of my time gaming, but I get my work done to earn it. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: Well, as I said, I’m pretty lazy and game a lot. Probably at least a couple hours a day every day of the week until my brain says “Stop playing Minecraft before I nuke you.” What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you.: Ho ho ho. What a question. I’ve been RPing since I first got an internet connection. Lots and lots of MUDs (text adventure), forums, and browser games like Cybernations (yes there was RP involved). RPing, to me, is great, because it lets me really live a life I never could vicariously through self-written fiction of imagination. With the right people and mental “painting”, the RP adventures I’ve had are unlike things most people have dreams about. Don’t even get me started on my dreams. As for a real definition of role-playing, I have to think it's pretty self-explanatory. You are playing an in-character role of a particular character, which can even include yourself. Fiction or non-fiction as it be, either can be 'role-played'. In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are. As a scientist, I have to deal with the term “Meta” a lot, as in “Metaphysics.” Meta is Greek for “after” and “beyond”; based on this knowledge, I can say that it’s working with things outside of what the game hands to me, such as OOC chats between players in a VoIP server, and using elements of that information to your advantage, despite your character having no or little involvement with said players at all. Powergaming can have a lot of different meanings from different people. For this server, from what I understand, it’s a bit like just blatantly breaking the rules. Instead of waiting for a dice roll (did I mention I’m also a fan of DnD?) and settling a dispute fairly, a ‘powergaming’ player likes to think that they’re, well, powerful, and disregard fair sport of the game and do what they please. These terms seem to be the cause of a lot of denied applications, from what I've been reading, or at least a helping hand. But that's as best I can describe them and how they make sense to me. What do you expect this server will be like?: Square. I kid. I expect the server to have the massive community I’ve already seen first-hand watching my friend play. It seems warm and fuzzy in some areas with a bit of the community, and, according to him, it really has some great players. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I’ve hosted a few of my own servers with 5-10 friends, and gone to their self-hosted ones, but never been anywhere big... Well, I did log into one once. Pretty cool stuff, but I walked through a door somewhere and got kicked/banned/something. I like a server that explains it’s rules before kicking people and reasons for doing do. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Indeed I have. How did you hear about us?: One of your own! Goes by the name of KirikoIzmuki on the forums. Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you? I believe I did, but I wasn’t paying attention to the numbers. I’ve read a bit about the server and figured I’d just toss it a free +1 for being so huge alone. What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?: AphoxCV In-Character: Character Name: Kyrenn Almasy What is your Race?: Elf/Human half-breed. Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): He was a strange one, that boy. With an Elven father and human mother, Kyrenn was teased quite a bit during his education where he lived, as a small boy. He was a little too smart for his own good sometimes, taking after his father, who was a rather successful businessman in the large town, despite the ingrown hatred of the Elves in the area. As any child would, Kyrenn, got sick of being teased, and pleaded to his parents, who, as rich, busy people they were, ignored their braniac child. But mysticism, Runes, and magick weren’t this boy’s dream. The more intelligent children were always placed in the magick schools for their exemplary demonstration of knowledge and skills in the arcane arts; Kyrenn was practically a master at the age of nine. But this wasn’t his dream, this was NOT his asperation. Kyrenn likes swords. A boy with a dream to fight! Swords, armor, battleaxes... A brute’s life. Nothing for a bullied smart kid. He wanted to be like the other boys who aspired to join the Royal Guard and lay their lives for what they believed in instead of throwing weak fire at old men holding lesser wards. Oh no. Muscle and blades were the life for him. As Kyrenn aged, he asserted his dominance as the alpha male using his knowledge of the Runic and arcane arts, as well has his mastery in hand-to-hand combat. By the age of twenty, he was well known in both the college of magick as well as the Royal Guard captains as an incredibly skilled young fighter. The time came, as he was of age, to join the Royal Guard itself, as so many before him had dreamed of and failed. One day, there was a knock at his door, the captain of the Royal Guard, was it. His mother, mourning, answered the door. The captain knew something was wrong. Being ignored and picked on by everyone drove Kyrenn out of the city as soon as he had the chance. Young children and those of age were not allowed out of the gates without their guardian, but it was time. He set out, with winnings in hand saved from hundreds of tournaments, on horseback, into the great wild, with a dream of only one thing--- Being a freelance swordsman. Self-reliance, self-preservation, magick, and swordsmanship were his specialty, and he intended to make a point of it. Not to prove it to anyone else, but to prove to himself that he can do exactly what he wants. After many years of traveling alone, Kyrenn has arrived here, at the young age of twenty-seven, in this lush landscape. Lack of recent work has drawn his wallet dry, and he wishes, just like any poor swordsman would, to begin again, so that his journey of self-discovery may continue until he has reached satisfaction. Ready to do whatever he needs to, be that a carpenter, bookwriter, musician, or just a watch guard, Kyrenn sits amidst the great kingdom in sight... (Physical description) Kyrenn is about 6'4", black, messy hair, usually wears chainmail and a tunic while out and about. Ordinary complexion, rigid jawline, slight facial hair. Skin color is average Caucasian, slightly tan. Certainly not a master of everything in the world, as no man can make that claim, he's able to learn! Your characters ambitions: Oops. Read above. TL;DR version: He wants to stop travelling for a while and restart his life so he can live happily. Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do? If I’m so sure those are bandits, I’d attempt to help the Elf using as many non-lethal submission tactics as possible before having to draw a sword. If overpowered, fight for my life however I can. Good with a sword, I'm ready to do what it takes, given I have the skill over my enemy, but I prefer to use non-lethal tactics when possible. Afterward, I'd talk to the victim and question the motives of the bandits (assuming I lived, of course!), and try to get ahold of why he/she was being attacked and what I can do about it, if anything. Your character walks up to a shop in the middle of Al'Khazar. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer? “Mind if I look around a bit?” Nonchalant and informal, I like to be quick and easy around shopkeepers to give them an easy experience and gain one myself. A screenshot of your skin: (This does not need to be permanent and can be changed easily if unacceptable.) Other Information: Personality wise, Kyrenn’s very friendly and fun to be around, but can be intrusive and vulgar when angry or when it’s needed. He also seems to have recently developed an affinity for pigs.
