==THE ASULON GAMES==

So I was thinking about random stuff the other day and this server crossed my mind, and I decided that I liked it so much, I was going to go and donate another $100 to it. Then I remembered that this upgraded my 50x50 plot to a 100x100 plot. Now, with a protected space of this size, you can surely do more for the RP of this server than make a person fort, because Aegis was full of those. I thought to myself... what could be better than making a huge arena with some stalls around it that can be used for what I like to call, the Asulon Games?

This is what I was thinking I could do, but there's no point if I am the only person who thinks this is

a] plausible and

b] a good idea

So let me know what you think, after you read this through.

THE LOCATION AND THE SETUP

Well as I said, this would be on a 100x100 donator plot and it would consist of an entrance, shops and stall that could be hired for the events, and the arena itself.

The arena would likely have a 30x30 - 40x40 event area, surrounded by spectator seating, and perhaps even a betting area.

I would try to host the games every two or three MC years around the same time, but I may end up having to be done either during a holiday or a half-term type thing due to the time it would require and the timezone issues.

THE PARTICIPANTS

I would like to think that a team from every great nation, or at least most, would be possible and could effectively become the Olympics of LotC. Events that require only one person from a nation would just have the one, most likely a different person for each event, and then nations could enter a team of 3/4 people for the team events, maybe even more.

THE EVENTS

SO I had a few ideas for events but there will doubtless be more and I would love any ideas the community could give. My ideas are:

- The Maze - single participant - in this event, one person from each nation is entered into a maze that covers the entire arena, and has to complete it as fast as they can. First, second and third place would all get points in decreasing order.

- Assault - team participation - in this event, two teams will play against one another to reach the opponents side and trigger their "bomb" (I will change the name of that) by standing on a pressure plate. Teams would play against each other in what would be a tournament playing until a winner for the event is decided. First and second place will obtain points in decreasing order.

- Obstacle Course - single participant - in this event, one person from each nation will race across an obstacle course and back, a very simple challenge. This will most likely be determined by times, quickest being awarded the most points, points being available for first, second and third place.

I think it would be possible to hold two of these games every day, maybe just one depending on the time required to set the arena up for the event.

Again, let me know other events you would like to see.

PRIZEGIVING AND SPONSORS

At the end of the event, the nation with the most points overall will be awarded a grand prize, the prize will be accumulated from the event sponsors. The perks of being a sponsor would be getting a free stall at the arena and be included and advertised by the event.

The amount of advertising would depend on the amount donated.

There would be a podium on which the nation colours would be placed as well, after they win the games.

SO, let me know what you think about this and weather it's a good idea and plausible, and give me feedback, constructive criticism and all that jazz...

Nope :P

What happens? Summarise pl0x? :3

--EDIT--

I looked for a summary, so you mean a nation Free For All sort of thing?

I think he means a survival of the fittest type thing, where everyone fights for their life and family to the end.

Remember how the Olympics were cancelled during war? That's the problem with this plan. Asulon is almost always at war, and, while the idea is sound as a friendly competition between allies, you're not going to get the Orcs coming over to have a friendly, non-lethal fight with Renatus.

This sounds like a really good idea! It would be amazing if it gets picked up by enough people and you get a sizable amount of people to attend the games. Perhaps if you do hold them, have them happen a set time IRL, not in game (cuz that will get REALLY confusing.) So, maybe once every third week?

The games sound like amazing fun too.

For the layout of the area though, I would think you'd want the arena to be in a corner of your 100x100 land plot, so that way the stalls would get even traffic, and things would be easier to find rather than looking around the arena for things (though I'm sure other people would set things up around it.)

And for another game, maybe make it so that there is a parkour one, a pig race one, a duel tournament, and some other things, because you will need at least seven games to make this thing go.

[EDIT] And concerning when Nations are at war, if you make it in a peaceful place and have it so that each Nation must promise they will not abuse the opportunity of the games, I think it would work.

Good idea!

I already made a post exactly like this. I woudnt mine working with you, but please click the link in my signature.

As you'll see, I added a bit more than you. But if you have an actual Plot maybe we can make this happen?

A pig race... that. sounds. epic.

Also if I can I will try to see how many nations would be at peace just for the duration of this sort of thing.

And if they cant they can maybe just be removed from the games and not have the change to win them; there are so many nation now since the original four, mainly because of all the Human divisions... I guess this is a positive feature of that...

Once I have enough suggestions, I will start adding other events to the list, but I like the idea of a free for all too. The duel tournament sounds similar to fencing and I think that could definitely work, but the parkour will probably be too similar to the obstacle course to include as well.

But we will see I guess...

--EDIT--

Oh wow, can't believe I missed that. Derp.

I'd love to work with you on this, your post does have a LOT of detail.

Although I would like this to be a solely nation vs nation thing with one prize overall.

We can discuss that of course.

The Hunger Games idea is that everyone starts behind a closed iron door. When it is opened there are chests they can run to or they can get out of the melee. Everyone has perms and the arena changes every time. Whoever lasts longest wins.

I actually think the hunger games idea is amazing. Also, it suits minecraft perfectly as long as people aren't allowed to dig underground (no hidden forts), AND there is now a hunger bar which again makes it realistic: you have to sustain yourself to remain competetive.

As I don't think it was explained very well earlier, I'll try and summarise the hunger games. Essentially, two volunteers are picked from each district (nation in LOTC), one boy and one girl (although this could be changed due to the overpowering boy to girl ratio), and are pitted against each other in a huge arena. The goal is to be the last survivor, naturally by killing other people.

Once the game starts, there is a huge stack of loot near the entrance where you can either try your luck for a huge advantage in gear, or if you don't think you can survive the brawl that inevitably kicks off around this loot, you can run off and try to survive without it. On top of everyone else in the arena trying to kill you, the gamemasters- unbiased referees who can change the rules at any time- may decide to make the game more 'interesting' for the audience by adding dangers to the environment, such as hordes of raging monsters.
