Jutra 51 Share Posted February 3, 2012 Jutra sighed heavily as she stared at the fire. The meat, given to her to cook, slowly roasting in the ovens. "All alone again." The orc who had given her the meat hadn't stuck around to chat with her. "Nothing new there" she thought. Orcs were not chatty and they certainly didn't like sitting still. She wished they would, she was getting lonelier and lonelier as the passings came and went. There was only so much livestock to tend, produce to harvest and cookies to bake. After that whatever meat she was given she cooked. After that...nothing. If she was back home she would have her family to chat with in the burrow. Here...no one, well almost no one, Ugroth had told her his training was going to be stepped up and so he was away for seeds at a time. He did come home once in a while. It wasn't his fault he wasn't there when she needed someone to chat with. He needed to live his life on his own terms. She was surprised at how little attention something like her growing another 2 feet got from the orcs. The Rex had worked some powerful mojo on her and had grown her up some. But no one had commented on the feat. Jutra wondered if they even bothered to look at her in the first place. Some others orcs, here and there would ask how she was, that was fine but that's where the conversations usually ended. What could she talk about after saying she was well? She didn't have anything of interest to speak about. Orcs choice of topics for conversations were usually limited to tales of them klomping or asking her to mate. Two perfectly normal topics for an orc, but Jutra wanted more. She wanted literary discussions and talks about the latest magical discoveries, debates and gossip about the goings on around the Capital. These were the things she missed most, intellectual conversations. She knew it wasn't up to any of the orcs to provide entertainment for her, still this didn't ease her loneliness. Jutra checked on the meat in the ovens. Done, she pulled them out and let them rest on the counter tops. She looked around her empty burrow, "Guess I can make another batch of cookies, just in case someone knocks on the door."

Blawharag 277 Share Posted February 4, 2012 ((Good story, I think I see your problem. You see Orcs don't realize doors are meant to be knocked on. Put a sign saying "pleez nock" and the Orcs will knock out of curiosity. When they do, tell them knocking on the door puts a curse on them and the only way to lift it is to sit down and have a conversation with you. It's full proof!)
