The Chronicler

Prologue

As the light from the lantern dimmed and flickered in the farmhouse, Perenelle Annárë set down her quill and got up from her gnarled stool. She walked over to her small kitchen, and after removing the lantern from its hook, refilled the glowstone oil inside of it, immediately lighting up her two room home. The elvess returned to her desk, sat, and returned the quill to her young hands. She brushed a lock of platinum hair from her beautiful face, and began to gracefully write sentences. As she sat there, writing intently, as she did every night, a thought entered her mind. Perenelle began to draw a picture, with words, of a cottage she remembered from her youth in Laurelin, a splendid city in Aegis. She had lived there with her uncle for some time, visiting him for two summers in a row. It had been so long ago, but she remembered it vividly. The towering oaks, the smiling elves, the graceful pools, all of which had inspired her so much.

As she retired that night, in her light blue nightgown, she thought of all the things she had written about that day. As her brilliant blue eyes closed, and she drifted off to sleep, she began to think of a plot. She would be able to write and have everyone read it, while not having to deal with fallout. She knew who she must become. She must become The Chronicler.

((This is just the prologue. I intend to turn this into a novella, and eventually take over Perenelle as by character. Feedback is appreciated.))

((Rather nice so far; brings back memories of Laurelin which I miss very much OOC and ICly. And as far as I'm aware, whilst the canopy looked very much like that of IRL palm trees, the trees were just giant oaks.))
