Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: My Minecraft account name is TheOneCharles

How old are you?: I'm currently 17 years old.

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: I live in Massachusetts, USA. GMT-5

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes, English is my first language, and I always use proper grammar.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I'm a fairly normal 17 year old guy. Love gaming, the outdoors and spending time with friends. As far as video games go, I play practically all varieties, but my favorites are rpgs.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: Well I'm a senior in high school, and I've already been accepted to college, so I'll be having a lot of free time throughout the rest of the year, and the summer. I could manage at least 20-30 hours a week.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Well, literally it's taking the role of a character you make, and then staying in that role as you explore and interact with a world of other people doing the same thing. I've been a big fan of Roleplaying for a long time now, and it has come to have a fairly significant meaning for me personally. Being able to experience a new and incredible world with other people who share your own ambitions is incredible, and one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I've ever had.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I've had a fair amount, especially in Minecraft. The first server I started playing Minecraft on regularly, was a faux-rp server called HonorCraft. After a group of people became frustrated at the lack of actual RP in the server, they fragmented off with one of the old Admins to create their own heavily RP-based server, AreteCraft. I was among the first handful to be invited, and was a major contributor not only with the builds, but also financially and socially throughout the 3 month long building stage. Unfortunately, the server had to close down after a few months due to a lack of advertising and not enough new players. Nonetheless, that server was home to some of the best creations, people and Roleplaying experiences I've ever seen.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta-Gaming was a fairly big issue that came out of my old RP server, so I've encountered it a lot. Meta-Gaming is when someone takes advantage of knowledge that they have gained from some form other than through in-game RP, in order to give them some sort of advantage or take some action in-game.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Power-Gaming is when someone plays purely in order to make progress or improvements, while losing sight of actually taking time and enjoying the game. This is why I love games like Minecraft, rather than games based entirely around farming or getting better equipment, such as many MMOs.

What do you expect this server will be like?: I expect this server to be a fun and mature community of other people looking for a deep and involving RP experience. I expect it to be one of the utmost examples of proper Minecraft RP, and upheld by a respectful and strong community.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I have played on many servers for various small amounts of time, but the servers which I have played on regularly before, have Been HonorCraft, AreteCraft, and a local server hosted by friends at school. I left Honorcraft because it wasn't a true RP server, as it was advertised, and I left AreteCraft because it became inactive. I only play on the local server very occasionally with friends.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes I have.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Yes, I fully promise to uphold and respect them.

How did you hear about us?: I saw the server on Minestatus.net

Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you?: Yes. I believe I was #2,322

In-Character:

Character Name: Mattimeo Aryant

What Race are you?: I'm a Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): I'm one of the many, proud Southerons.

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): I was born into one of the many prosperous Southeron houses. I was unlike many of the other Southeron children my age. While some would apprentice at their parents’ workplaces, or study politics and business, I would wander the plains near my home, or search through surface caves. Of course I still attended school, and took an interest in the work of my parents, but it never truly struck me as what I wanted to become. I was not an entirely unusual child though. As with many Southerons, I have brown hair, blue eyes, and am rather fair skinned. I was fairly soft-spoken, and patient, but also a natural with a sword, and never one to ignore a threat against me or my friends. When I was 18, I met a young elf, while exploring a nearby forest. The young man told me about his homeland, and how he left his home to come explore the vast world of Asulon. I didn’t even manage to ask for the man’s name, before he bounded back into the forest, following our short talk.

It was this encounter which drove me to take action. I felt the call of the mines, the cities, and the open world, all driving me to come and explore them. A few years passed, during which I took my time to gather my things, and plan my departure. At the age of 22, I threw on my backpack, tossed my trusty red bandana around my neck, and headed off into the forest, without telling any of my friends or family beforehand. I always try to travel light, to see the world of Asulon openly and clearly. I’ve come to learn many people on my journey, and my interactions with the various wood elves back home, have made me more open to any and all cultures. However, maybe it’s time that I find somewhere to settle down, at least for a little while.

What are your Character's ambitions?: To explore Asulon, and to provide aid and companionship to anyone I may discover in my journey. I would also like to perhaps settle down in a city, find some good food, and take a rest from my arduous journey.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): A sword always felt most natural in my hand. A fair, agile, and beautiful weapon, designed to keep me and those I care about safe. Although of course, I'm always happy to feel the strong heft of a pickaxe in hand to mine out a few riches!

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Navigation and survival, in areas both rural and urban, seem to be an innate talent. I've always been one to use my prosperous education, training, and background in any dangerous or undesirable situation I find myself in.

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format): zIQem.jpg

Other Information about your Character: I'm a man who finds pleasure in many things, whether that is spending time with others, working hard in the mines, or building grand structures. I'm not one to scoff at anyone else's work, and expect others to provide me with that same courtesy. That being said, I'm not someone who'll stand idly by when someone insults or attempts to bring harm to anyone I care about. I try to always leave one hand on my scabbard.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? I approach the three, and ask the halfling if these two thugs are bothering him. I'll try to talk the two warriors down with a combination of the rhetoric I learned from my prosperous education, and also intimidation and confidence which I can accrue form my sheathed, but ready, sword.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? I'll politely greet him back, and inquire about what's for sale. I'm not a spendthrift, so only especially rare items, or great deals are likely to catch my attention. Chances are he'll have nothing I can't find or create on my own, so I'll decline and continue to wander Alras.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: I would look around the building, and using a few tips I learned from some wood elves I know, check the house and surroundings for marks of other people or possible inhabitants. If it truly looks like whoever put these items here are not coming back, or there are no signs of anyone around, then I'll take the items, and perhaps scribble a note, apologizing if they were indeed of someone else's possession. However, if it does look like the place isn't completely abandoned, I'll leave the items, and be on my way.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? I ask for shelter and food, offering my work or coin in return.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: I would gladly approach the town guard, and offer my sword to assist with defeating the bandits. Any way that I could help remove scum such as these bandits, is certainly a cause I see to be worth backing. Not to mention the fact that I could earn a few coins in the process!

Hello, TheOneCharles! Unfortunately, your application is not suitable for acceptance on Lord of the Craft, thus was denied. Do not fret! You have a total of 4 application attempts left to achieve implemented (whitelist) status on our heavily populated, high-standard server! You will also not be able to post another application 24 hours from: 14/03/12 (time of this post, located above). Below I shall outline outstanding aspects of your application which specifically affected the decision making system.

Incorrect Definition(s) / Wording: Your Powergaming definition was incorrect. Please go about correcting this when re-posting your application 24-hours from the time of this post. You can find definitions in the ‘Realm of Asulon’ child forum, under Guides! Also, for future reference, please provide an example with your definition to assure the application reader you have a complete understanding of the roleplay term and can apply it in real situations.

Biography: Your biography lacks lore, which is an important factor on the application and in general terms. Lore is the backbone of our roleplay environment, and you must have at least basic knowledge of it to be considered for acceptance. You can find the old Wiki page link throughout the guide section and the Application Submission section to help educate you on lore as the new Wiki develops.

Open-Response Questions: Elaborate! The OR questions are used to get an idea of your characters tendencies, personality and physical traits. You can only successfully portray those through the use of detail and creativity.

Good luck on your next application, and remember that you must wait a minimum of 24-hours from the time of this post before re-posting your application. If you feel that you have completed the above, simply send me a private message and I shall review the application before you post it up.
