Religious_Pie 127 Share Posted March 30, 2012 Well, after my recent ban, I have been thinking of ways that we could attract new players, and whenever you look at a video on youtube, what do you get caught by? The Music, a voice-over? Well, for me, it's seeing constructs of a beautiful nature and an Epic scale, yet we on LotC don't have much like this, yes we have the cities, but some of them need to be livened up in my opinion. However, these cities aren't what draw in people most of the times, it's what I call "Dynamic" builds, that attract the most attention, for example, a Giant Cavern, with a sleeping Dragon inside. A Fortress built of Strange materials, with rewards at the end, etc etc. Now, you may be thinking, the old term: "Conflict makes Role-play." Yes, in most cases it does, so with these epic builds, caverns, Ravines, Mountains, Ruins, etc, Give each one of them a reason to exist, so Nations fight for it! I would love to see a battle between two races, as they run across either the ledges of a Large Ravine, or the Mossy floors of an underground system, these sorts of environments, perhaps mixed with Aislin's suggestion for war-rules, could create beautiful canvas's for amazing RP. I can understand allot of you now saying: "But we don't have the talent to build such things!" Sadly, that is true, and neither can I, it requires allot of planning and allot of Lag, and now the World is out it seems it would be impossible (It doesn't help either that Vaq doesn't like VoxelSniper :3 ) but it could be built, on per-say, a Verge MK.2, lands of old warring civilizations past, fighting for these ruins, the same reasons our Nations will fight over them. If this was to be considered, I would be happy to help with it...but not yet...However, I will try and summaries ideas, and if you have any, then post them below! For these builds would not only create the Canvas's we need for RP, but it would also attract the Players, that would realise the Prestige of this server, simply by a picture! I may be over-exaggerating the effect of large builds, but I damn well know they are important when trying to get new players, but either way, I think this could be an Idea to really think about, but as I said before, how it would be implemented, could be extremely difficult. Oh, and for an example video of what I mean, this struck me to write this post, when I saw the terrain for the new FyreUK video: Kind Regards, Alexander. shiftnative 3103 Share Posted March 30, 2012 We've had the intent to do this for events for quite awhile! I fancy myself pretty good at dramatic landscapes with world-painter, ive been making a handful of things for lotc ~ However, any player could build a fantastic location and use it for an event purposal - we'll throw it on a seperate world and link the with boats - The adyton dig site is similar to this idea, we slapped it together in 2 days and theres some great atmosphere and tons of to find ! *Edit* We can make an official event section on the forums for this sort of thing aswell, ill post up some of the terrain ive made aswell as take ideas / concepts and create them for players to build upon! All we need is the save file and it can be used as a quest / event destination. :) we would swap the files out as guilds take turns going on quests to finish various tasks and or discover relics; etc Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
