Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: chimechongas

How old are you?: I am currently 13; turning 14 tomorrow.

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: I currently live in Canada. The Eastern timezone (-5).

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes, I belive that my english and grammar are OK because I love to read fantasy and Sci-Fi books and observe how authors use puntuation so I can better improve my grammar. Also, English is my first language.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I see myself as a normal person because I like to read books, play games, and do sports. I love to read all kinds of books but my favourite genre is Fantasy, the lore of some different books make me feel immersed into that specific world.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: I still have school and after school activites so between them I most likely will be able to get between 9-17 hours weekly.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Roleplaying is immersing yourself into different worlds and being that charecter you always wanted to be; that honorable knight, the powerful wizard, or some people fancy being that cruel ruler. Roleplaying is like becoming that person and escaping the normal world into a world full of lore, magic, and adventure!

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I played on some Minecraft Roleplaying servers before; but I didn't feel that they didn't have enough adventure or lore. I also used to role-play on World Of Warcraft and Lord Of The Rings Online. I also play games like Skyrim and Fallout. After reading some of the Lord Of The Craft wiki I was amazed that it had all that lore in one Minecraft Server.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Metagaming is when someone obtains information about someone else while out of charecter and uses it for an unfair advantage.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: It is when a player makes a character and only focuses on one skill or power while being weaker in other areas.

What do you expect this server will be like?: After playing many of great RPGs, seeing the reviews for this server, and reading the wiki I have high expectations for it.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I don't remember the other servers I played on but I do host my own server.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes I believe in those rules and agree to them because the time I had my own server I learned how hard it is to deal with people causing trouble and I don't want to cause any trouble to another persons server.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Yes, from now on I shall abide by the rules thou have given me.

How did you hear about us?: After playing other servers and being dissapointed because the other servers weren't fun I googled "Top Ten Minecraft Servers" and Lord Of Craft was on it.

Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you?: Yes, although I didn't play this server yet it says on the Minecraft forum that I have to vote for it first. I accidently closed the tab with the vote on it so I don't know the vote number.

Have you posted this application on our minecraft forum thread yet? If not, just finish it up on here and then copy + paste is over there. In-Character:

Character Name: Lougbain Aboloft

What Race are you?: I am a Human of Asulon.

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): I am a Human of the Magical world of Asulon. The names Lougbain, now let me tell you a story you might enjoy young one. No one knows where I was born, neither do I, but I do know something about my birth; I was destined to be a great warrior. Soon after my birth a group of traviling scum that most people call Bandits destroyed my village. My father died in battle while my mother narrowly escaped death by hiding in a farm like an animal! My mother was able to sneak me off to safety at a near village and found a family of warriors, she took me to them and told them her story. Soon after informing them the bandits were near she died because of injuries sustained because of the raid.

The family my mother dropped me off had a wonderful name; Lionstroke. Alerted by the warning that the bandits were near their family quickly fled to the safety of Arethor. I grew to be a boy with what they called boldness and always went to a conflict without thinking just to do the right thing. There they trained me in the ways of the sword and shield. Teaching nobility and the difference between right and wrong. I was becoming a great warrior, and from there I became the man here; a 29 year old knight. I fight off evil wherever it lurks, I bring light to darkness, I bring justice to Asulon! And I also have a great sense of humor! Now go child your mother calls for you.

What is your Character's ambitions?: I wish to rid this world of all forms of evil that took my family away from me.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): I favour the sharp Sword and the hard Shield combo for my slaying.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? My most powerful skill is Sword fighting! I'm known across Asulon for it!

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format): knightsofminecraftminec.jpg

Other Information about your Character: Extreme hatred of Theives and Bandits.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? He would knock the warriors down without killing them and taking all the money they took and give it back to the halfing, and tell them how a real warrior acts and drop them money so they don't have to steal from people anymore.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? Eying the expensive looking ware "Haha. You got some fine wares here." Stares at the merchant who stands with a crutch "How much?" The merchant replies "100 Minas" Looks into space for a while and says "OK, but i'll give you 150 Minas so you can get someone to else to hire, I mean an old man working on his own and needs to stand with a crutch? You will need some help. Here." And hands him 150 Minas the merchant replies "Thank you kind sir!"

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: I don't go in because my family says that bandits use that as a trap, they said that it's booby trapped, and also I don't like taking things that aren't mine.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? "Do you have any food I can buy?" I would ask and buy it for a fair price without haggling or using threats.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: I help eliminate the bandits but don't take the reward and say to the leader "I don't take money from honest people who have done nothing wrong, you just needed help."

I would also like to thank the staff of Lord Of The Craft for making me imagine all this fun lore

I am very sorry, but your application has been moved to the denied section of the forums. There are numerous reasons for this, all of which I have included in my feedback below this message. In the mean time there is an abundant source of information, stories, guides and other helpful tips to get you on your way to being accepted; all you need to do is look around. I would suggest the lord of the craft wiki and application submissions section of the forums to start off your little quest to make the best application. Good luck!

The reasons that I have denied you are:

You did not give valid examples of RP, or you did not describe how your examples are RP.

You need to describe to us how the games or locations you have talked about pertain to an RP environment.

RPGs or Role-Playing Games are not RP’s.

Games such as World of Warcraft, Skyrim, Rift or similar do not count as Roleplaying as there is no person to person interaction within a Roleplaying scenario (unless of course you were on a Roleplaying server in which you need to explain where and how you role-played to show your understanding of the term).

Your definition of power-gaming is incorrect.

In lord of the craft we use an RP definition of power-gaming, rather than an RPG definition. While these may seem like the same thing, we can loosely judge that an RPG definition would fit in with games such as World of Warcraft or Skyrim, and the RP definition would fit in with games such as D&D or other person to person Roleplaying. Please do not confuse the definition we use to the definition that other Roleplaying groups may use, relating to creating a character which is too powerful, or doing an “overpowered” action; this is not the definition we use. To make sure you have the correct definition you can either have a look at the Lord of the Craft wiki, or by joining our Team Speak channel (send me a message if you need help getting started) and asking an experienced member. I would also like you to include an example of the term as it demonstrates your understanding of the concept.

Your biography has a lot of errors.

You have not included any lore from the world of Asulon/the lore you did include contradicts that of Asulon. I recommend that you do a lot of research as to what you race is and how they act, as well as towns and places that you could use in your biography. Do note this is not Skyrim or Lord of the Rings, we have our own universe with our own races. For ideas and lore you can look on the Lord of the Craft wiki (link on the main page), the Role-play or History sections of the forums or better yet; talk to the people themselves. Just join in our Team Speak channel and ask around! We welcome new people :)

You need to complete the entire biography, detailing all your characters history, age, personality and description. We also like to see little role-play quirks such as habits like the constant brushing back of a fringe, or the scratching of an itchy palm.

Every single thing in your application must have a justification. For example:

John’s father taught him swordsman ship and the lay of the land. X BAD

John’s father was a retired swordsman in the Oren military, after the undead attacks and the moving to Asulon he decided it was time that he lay down the sword for more important matters, family. Now days John’s father teaches John the way of the sword, not so that he can join any particular military, but so that he can defend himself for future experiences to come. √GOOD

Your ambitions are underdeveloped.

You need to show some advanced thought processes. What would your character like to do in the near and distant futures? What is your character planning? You also need to justify your decisions. Why does your character want to do this? Things such as planning to kill all bandits, orcs, humans etc. are unacceptable ambitions as this would require a villainous activity.

Your answers to the favourite tool/best skill questions are underdeveloped.

You need to justify why you have chosen the choices you have. It is all well and good that your character can run really fast, or is light on their feet: but why?

Your skin is not acceptable.

You cannot have a perfect representation of a creeper on your characters back, nor can you have any sort of creeper imagery on your character. Creepers are long extinct in Lord of the Craft and do not fit in lore wise.

Wearing a hood like that is probably not a good idea. Many cities will ask for you to remove the hood so I suggest you create an alternate skin with the hood down. If you are having trouble creating or editting a skin then just send me a message and I'll get you connected to someone who can assist in creating your skin :) Otherwise there are plenty of great skins on our website and other forums for you to use.

Your answers to the Open Response questions need a lot of improvement.

Instead of describing what your character would do, you need to assume that your character is in the situation and acting as they would in that situation. You need to describe a scene of RP. This means that you cannot write “If this happens, then my character would do that.” As this shows that you are not Roleplaying, you are answering the question from what you think that your character might do. You need to show us that you know who your character is, you know what the situation is and you know how your character is going to react.

This also means that you need to write in full RP. For example:

Josh talks to the shopkeeper, buys a few apples, pays the shop keeper and leaves. X BAD

Josh walks up to the man standing behind the rough oaken market stand. The sounds of a busy market can be heard all around him. An annoying fly buzzes around his head, so he absent-mindedly begins to inefficiently swat it away. “Ah, greetings shopkeeper! I was just browsing your wares.” The shopkeeper nods at Josh and then turns towards another customer to attempt to assist them the way all market shopkeepers must. Suddenly Josh felt a slight tugging sensation on his belt. He was about to brush it off as nothing, perhaps just someone bumping into him until he realised his belt was slightly lighter. He noticed a man beginning to run off in the opposite direction of himself. He glanced down to see that his coin purse was missing. He put two and two together and then shouted at the top of his lungs. “STOP THEIF!”… √ GOOD!

We expect that you write in full RP and that you write a full paragraph or more for each question.

If you have any questions about my feedback, or would like to create some constructive criticism about the way I give feedback (I.E am I being TOO blunt, or am I coming across rude) then please send me a message! I take all questions, none are stupid! :)
