Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: Jhaax

How old are you?: 15, turned recently in March.

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: The United States, North Carolina. -5 GMT I believe.

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes I do. It's my first language.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am a teenager. I love to play videogames, especially TF2, and Skyrim. I play soccer and basketball, thought by no means am I the best. When I'm not doing my homework or playing games, I'm usually talking to friends. I'm very socially active.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: This varies, as I have changing workloads, anywhere from 12-40 hours.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: I know a few things about roleplaying, such as creating a character, and avoiding powergaming and metagaming, but other than that, I'm not very knowledgeable. Roleplaying, to me, is when you assume the identity of a character you have created. You adopt the mindset and knowledge of this character, and though interaction with others and yourself, create a storyline.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: Very little. Unfortunately, roleplaying has had no part in my life until recently. I began to roleplay just a tad in a server my friend created, based on life from a middle ages viewpoint.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Metagaming is the act of taking information your character would have no way of knowing, such as where a town is on a map you found IRL, and "giving" it to them. It ruins the flow of the game, and prevents an accurate character story. In my eyes, however, information your character did not directly find out, but should know anyway, is not metagaming. In example, no one tells you what your capitol city is, but who doesn't know their capitol city?

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Powergaming is forcing actions or effects onto other characters or people in a manner that is either; A: Impossible by any means your character has, or B; Completely unfair to the other player.

What do you expect this server will be like?: I honestly have no idea. I've never played on a large roleplaying server, and I'd like to see how you manage to fit such a bright and full story into Minecraft. I imagine however, if it is as good as it seems, I'll have quite a fun time.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: Just my friends, and I never left. I enjoy the mood he has created, with a fief-like roleplaying structure.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes, I have.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Yes, I do.

How did you hear about us?: Word of mouth, my friend said he had gotten the idea from you, he directed me to you, and here I am.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: I have not.

Have you posted this application on our minecraft forum thread yet? If not, just finish it up on here and then copy + paste is over there. : Yes, I have.

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Dera was born as many others were at her time. Poor, and without food. Raised to believe that the only form of true joy was not only outperforming others, but watching others fail. She became obsessed with money and shiny objects as a small child, due to constant exposure of thievery and murder, often with money or jewels exchanging hands. She was shown no mercy, and was whipped and often beaten as a tiny girl. Her parents raised her with glee to become a being without compassion or empathy, but being able to fake them. She was forced through starvation and violence to perfect a skill of lying and faking emotions. Her society and parents have caused her to become a hedonistic elf, driven only by the want for pleasure and money. Often times she could be found sneaking out of a situation in which her obsession for goods and money had landed her.

She is five four in height, a small child, but able to move quickly. She seems innocent and harmless on the outside. She is fourteen, still incredibly young for an elf, but old enough to make decisions and live on her own. She hides scars from whips, punches and blades beneath her small clothing. White hair drapes down her back, while scarlet curls cover her face.

What are your Character's ambitions?: Money. Dera is a greedy little girl. She's a bit wrong in the head, and believes money is equal to happiness.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): A bow, or a small sword.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Deceit, and trickery. Dera is decent at lying and takes joy in doing so.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? Dera, standing short, stares blankly at the scuffle from behind a nearby tree. She curses her foul luck, as moving from her current position would alert the armed men, but staying any longer would result in her being found once the men were done with the halfling. "Damn it all," she curses under her breath. She slowly backs up and turns and runs in the other way, as the men notice her and begin throwing sharp rocks. One clips her leg, and she barely escapes them by outmaneuvering the attackers in the small woods.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? Dera quickly scans the wares, and noticing nothing interesting, swiftly moves on after flashing a brief dazzling smile at the man. He bows back and goes back to pedaling wares. After she is a brief distance away, the crowd turns to the stall after a terrible scream erupts from the man. His coin purse has disappeared.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Dera's eyes widen as she begins to root through the wonderful and lucky find. As she cackles with greed and delight, stuffing everything of worth into her bag, she doesn't notice a small man entering the hut from the other side. She turns on him as he steps angrily into the hut, "WHAT ARE YE DOIN'," he bellows. She kicks the man in the knee, and dashes as far and fast as she can. Sitting down, she paws through her bag, smiling happily at the shiny objects she has taken.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? Dera snaps to reality as the people in front of her greet her nicely. She shows them a bright smile, and starts to slyly talk, making sure to not alienate them, and get them on her side. "It's been forever since I've seen such a rich group of people," she says in a velvet voice. She looks happily at one of the people, her goal to seem as inviting as possible. After talking her way into a bed to sleep in, she quickly gathers her things, offs a few chickens and cows, and escapes before dawn.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Dera notices the large amount of money for the murder of these bandits. Gathering a small group of people she had already met in the town, they moved through the night into the bandits camp. Once arriving there, Dera broke away from the group, and alerted the bandits silently of their impending doom. Talking them up to fighting the small forces, she escaped and watched them fight from afar. She picked a few off with arrows, killing members of both sides. After looting all she could, she hide her findings in a small tree, and collected the rewards, posing as the only surviving member of the skirmish.

Accepted!

I particularly liked your Metagaming and Power-gaming definitions, they were very well-written.
