Character Name: Norral Gimthen

What Race are you?: Dwarf

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race: Mountain Dwarf

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.: Born and bred in Kal’Dwain, Norral stayed there living in amongst the rabble that wandered in and out of the Drunken Toadstool. He had a broken home because his mother had died giving birth to him and his father Arbir had died fighting in the seige of Kal’Urgan. Thus left in the care of his uncle Bellyr, whom was a drunkard that spent much of his time gambling, his pittance of a wage that he laboured, mining coal for the furnaces. Norral grew hardened, street smart learning which travellers would cause trouble. He met with a human merchant named Tybalt in the inn, he said that he had a large cargo of golden ingots coming in from the great Realms of Hanseti, Tybalt said that having a dwarf in his company would boost his confidence from the walls of Kal’Dwain to Hanseti, due to the Dwarfs notorious vicious temper with an axe. But when they were approaching the great snowy mountain range (Norral was at the young age of 72) Nomadic Orcs captured Tybalt and Norral. Moving back along the mountains of Hanseti a band of Mori’Quessir that was dwelling in the caves heard the orcs great cries as they were arguing over whether to eat Tybalt or Norral first, unconscious Norral was oblivious to the current danger that he was in. He woke some hours later, his bounds cut and a weapon laid by his side. He watched a great plume of smoke and ash in front of him as the Orcs were being burnt.

Dazed and confused Norral had to find his bearings, he wandered for what seemed like days in the snow but it was merely a few hours. He happened upon by chance a road that he assumed a merchant caravan would later travel upon. He was right and he was approached by a sorcerer that was travelling with a golem. Only hearing of these things in lore, Norral always assumed that they were a myth. The sorcerer greeted him and said his name was Letholdus but would not let any more information escape his lips. He was heading to the hold of Hanseti and beckoned him to go. Back upon his original track Norral thus made his way to the great mountain hold of Hanseti under the protection of this seemingly great sorcerer. Reaching the walls of Hanseti the Human Guards thus began to come out in companies yelling out calls of halt. The sorcerers golem Hafaleil flexed his red veins and the Captain of the Guard guard came out and hailed ‘Woe! By which business does a dwarf and a sorcerer of great powers come bearing a golem?!’ Norral of course was not sure of the business that Letholdus had in Hanseti but he was finally glad that he could see if Tybalt had made it himself into the walls, and into the bustle of the great city of man.

Strange and dark looks were being shot towards Norral but he thought them strange for he was a welcome guest in the city. After asking a bartender in the first bar he entered, as luck had it Tybalt was in the inn itself. Giving Norral his cut of the gold he was deciding what to do with his future. Realising his future was bound in the service of his fellow mountain Dwarves Norral, spent his gold on supplies and finally began to move to the great Dwarven sanctuary of Renatus to join the guard. This is where his current journey begins! Norral is gaining ground on the keep and is eager to offer his axe in any service that he can, to help defend the outer keeps of Renatus he plans to reach there by his 80th birthday.

What is your Character's ambitions?: He wants to help his kind in the bid to protect the innocent citizens in the walls of Renatus. Norral wants to chose an honourable path to help and bid for greatness to become a Dwarf Noble or become a great army leader.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?: Commanding others in the path of danger. He is a very skilled survivor and adventurer, and will gladly do the bidding of the any leader looking for a mercenary to deliver a message or goods.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? Being reckless and hot-headed but meaning well Norral moves in to threaten the larger bandits. He rapidly realises his mistake, and offers to pay the bandits off for the safety of the halfling, when the bandits decide to take advantage of Norral. After paying double the amount of gold that the halfling has leaves Norral out of pocket. But the halfling reveals to Norral of his three diamonds that he had acquired in gratitude of not being bullied and robbed.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? Norral simply observes his wares yet notices a small glint that comes from under a cloth. It is a jewel encrusted goblet. Norral would not have given much attention to the goblet despite the rumours that he had heard in a tavern a few nights ago. Upon further examination he realises that it matches the description that the merchant had given his companion. It was said that one that drank from the goblet would gain powers of great speed.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? Norral is hoping that the men in the camp will take pity on the state of a starving unarmed dwarf. Hoping they will not take him a serious threat that they will feed him and point him in the direction of the nearest city. These merchants find it in their hearts to spare a pickaxe and a few portions of beef for the road. They even offered a horse for a cheaper price then one could get in a city.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Norral puts down his flagon of ale and goes to recruit himself. He finds that he is in the company of Men, Elves and Dwarves alike. They move almost immediately, yet when they arrive they find a freshly abandoned camp that has still smoking fire pits, bed rolls and pots of food left on the ground. An impulsive Elf runs forward to check some of the chests. This movement was his last, six different arrows pierced him and he was no more. Three bandits charged and the Mercenaries let arrows fly whilst the dwarves swung their axes and swords. They fought until all bandits were dead. Norral was rewarded with the taking of whatever loot he wished for.
