Gloifur 1 Share Posted May 19, 2012 Out-Of-Character Minecraft Account Name: eaglesrule117 How old are you?: 20 Time-Zone/Country of Residence: EST/US Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am a full time student who works part-time in the summer and I am looking for something to do. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: 5-20 hours depending on the weather, work hours etc… What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Roleplaying is when you create a character and act as your character would. What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: Just other RP Minecraft servers. On Darkahlen, my character joined a cult worshipping the god who had previously done battle with the other gods in an attempt to destroy the world. My cult journeyed far from civilization and set to work building a city featuring a large church that was built in the god’s honor. After a week or two of preparation the cult set to work summoning the god with an elaborate ceremony. The god blessed the cultists with physical strength beyond regular men (melee combat buffs) and transformed them into a new race…his chosen people. Unfortunately activity on the server as a whole dropped due to shoddy implementation of the heroes plugin (racial/class bonuses and skills didn’t work, everyone was stuck with wood tools for over a week etc…) so the new race never really got explored to any depth and the server closed shortly after. On Impact I play an outsider character who only rarely journeys into town to sell the product of his hunts. Unfortunately the server has almost no active orcs and those that do play favor a powergamey system with mcmmo (ie: chars who have no business mining have large branch mines and many average people live in castles). In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Using knowledge obtained OOC to further yourself IC. In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Making your character an un-killable badass, allowing no chance for failure. To avoid powergaming one should always allow for an unfavorable outcome. Powergaming example: Player 1 meets Player 2 for a duel. After starting, Player 1 says: “Player 1 rushes toward Player 2 with his sword drawn, he brings it down with lightning speed past Player 2’s block and deep into Player 2’s shoulder. Player 2 drops his sword gasping in pain….with ease Player 1 pulls his sword free and swings again taking Player 2’s head from his shoulders.” What do you expect this server will be like?: A large dynamic RP world with many active players. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: To keep it brief I’ll only list RP servers. Falchion- server being redone due to declining activity Darkahlen- server is being renovated due to a decline in activity, Impact- still playing Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Yes How did you hear about us? Did someone refer you?: Somebody on another server mentioned LOTC and I took it to google. Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: Yes, http://www.lordofthe...7s-application/ Have you posted this application on our minecraft forum thread yet? If not, just finish it up on here and then copy + paste is over there. (http://www.minecraft...-p-s-e-r-v-e-r/): Yes In-Character: Character Name: Gloifur What Race are you?: Orc What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Goblin Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Gloifur grew up among a small nomadic band of goblins. This band roamed the eastern edge of the War Uzg. Their living was made by supplying devious contraptions to the various orc clans. The band’s loyalty was to the Rex when called upon but in times of peace between the races the band profited by selling their wares to the highest bidder. Gloifur was big for a goblin, with his large size came greater than average physical strength. Unfortunately goblins do not give respect based on physical strength like the larger orcs. Rather goblin status is based on their skill at the craft of building war machines. Gloifur struggled at building such complicated machines; he was called “Fat Fingers” and ridiculed by the other members of the band. Gloifur furious at the ridicule strove to distinguish himself in other ways, he took to hunting for game to feed the band. He seemed to have a knack for archery and quickly became one of the band’s best hunters. Even the success he achieved as a hunter could not bring him the band’s respect. Frustration led to anger and anger led to violence. Gloifur got in many fistfights with other goblins who insulted him; he almost always won. One day it all came to a head, Dongel the band’s best builder challenged Gloifur to a klomp. According to the goblin way a klomp was a timed building contest where the contestants competed to build the better machine in a set time. Gloifur knew he would lose but accepted the challenge anyways not wanting to lose anymore honor in the band’s eyes. On the day of the competition the elder came out of his tent and announced the challenge to the band. The challenge was to build a crossbow by the end of the day. Gloifur had never had a way with building and at the end of the day his crossbow was yet unfinished and of poor quality, as he glanced over at Dongel his heart sank. Dongel had built a fine crossbow that could fire 2 bolts simultaneously. When the elder emerged from his tent he glanced at Gloifur’s attempt and smirked. He then went over and congratulated Dongel for beating “Fat Fingers”. Dongel smiled and what he said next would change Gloifur’s life forever. Among the words he overhead was the grave insult…..”whitewash”. Something inside him snapped, red filled his vision and he felt the rage wash over him. This was more primal, stronger than any he had felt before. The anger from the fistfights paled in comparison to this. Without even taking notice of what he was doing Gloifur grabbed a hammer that rested next to him and with quick strides closed the distance to Dongel and buried the hammer between his eyes. When Dongel’s body thudded to the ground Gloifur came to his senses, the band was staring awestruck at him. For a moment nothing moved, then from the back a voice called out “Keel da trayter!”. As more and more voices added their assent a realization of what happened struck Gloifur. He was a disgrace to his band, he had killed a “bruddah”, with this on his mind he broke into a run towards the edge of the camp, a screaming mob at his heels. Gloifur ran for hours, when the mob stopped following he did not know. He ran until he collapsed from exhaustion and sank into a deep sleep. Upon awakening Gloifur started to consider his options……. Appearance: Roughly 6ft tall, several pronounced scars (mostly from failed building projects), taut muscles, grey-green skin, yellow eyes. Wears chainmail that has seen better days, covered with a tattered brown garment. Personality: Mistrustful of others, loyal to his friends, quick to temper. What is your Character's ambitions?: Gloifur is currently searching for a new home and a purpose having been driven out of his band. What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): Bow, it provides both food and protection What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Archery A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format): http://www.planetmin...-goblin-archer/ Other Information about your Character: I think its been covered :) Open-Response-Questions Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? Upon seeing the halfling in danger Gloifur smiles to himself thinking “Da snaak not abl ta weesal outta dis won.”. As he watches from a distance the men get rougher with the halfling beating him and searching him for any hidden valuables. Gloifur’s smile grows larger as the large man plants a kick into the halflings face. He continues onward passing the men on the far side of the trail he notices their hungry look. Now Gloifur breaks out into a full grin resting his hand on his axe handle “Keep ta da week won, dis bruddah haz e steeng.”. The men turn back to the halfling and Gloifur continues on his way whistling what is meant as a tune but which scares nearby birds from their nests. Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? Gloifur regards the merchant with a grin “Da shara cud plees Gloifur wit a orcish klomp, sownd fuhn?”. The merchant having dealt with orcs before grows pale “No good sir I mean no disrespect, please be on your way.”. Regarding the merchant Gloifur responds “Nub wory, u wuld breeng nub honer ta meh, week won”. Gloifur continues onward glad he could strike such fear in a pinky with so few words. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Upon approaching the hut an uneasy feeling enters Gloifur’s mind. He crouches and stealthily makes his way around the perimeter of the open area surrounding the hut. Upon seeing no threats he enters the hut with his axe drawn. As he sifts through the crates he comes upon an unlocked chest. Opening it he finds a gold sword and some iron ingots. Snorting in disgust Gloifur turns to leave thinking to himself what ridiculous gaudy weapons pinkskins make. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? Upon approaching the camp Gloifur smells beef cooking, normally Gloifur would not take such chances but his stomach drives him into the camp. Upon seeing him the trader says “Hail greenskin, welcome to our camp.”. “Ug pinkskin da beef smel var e gud, Gloifur haf nuttin ta eet een dayz. Meh belli wud welkuum dat beef.”. Amused by the orcs speech the trader responds “When it is done green one, just don’t eat me.”. Gloifur smiles and takes a seat by the fire, when he is finished eating he looks at the trader and says “U wer gud ta meh pinkskin, honer stayts ei shud hellp ya. Wud ya nead e garr don da road?”. The trader smiles again and thanks Gloifur for his offer but states that he has all the protection he needs. Gloifur nods his assent and sets back off down the road thinking to himself what a nice pinkskin that was. You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Gloifur approaches the guard captain “Ug meh hurd u nead hellp wit som bandets?”. The captain welcomes him “Yes greenskin, we are paying any who would assist in this battle”. Gloifur smiles “Meh ax an boh b wit ya”. “Glad to have you, just be sure not to lose yourself in rage.”. When a man comes running into town saying the bandits are nearby the guard signals the group to follow him down the road. As they near the bandit infested area Gloifur slips off into the brush with his bow. Upon seeing the bandits the town guard engages Gloifur lets one arrow fly into the group of bandits before he draws his axe. He smiles to himself as he enters the fray, upon finding a good sized bandit Gloifur sets to work. Back and forth they go, Gloifur realizes the bandit was a good choice when the bandit makes a stinging strike that connects with Gloifur’s bicep. The defeat of this bandit will bring Gloifur much honor; he already has a new scar the show off. As the bandit is backing up he twists his ankle on a tree root and his guard falters. Taking advantage of this Gloifur launches a furious assault, one hit gets through and the bandit’s sword arm is disabled. Gloifur grins as he brings his axe down on the man’s head. He reaches into the dead man’s wounds and draws his hand out covered in blood. He takes his wet hand and smooths back his hair reveling in the feeling of the bandit’s blood. The guard captain approaches and hands Gloifur a small pouch of coins “Glad to have you on our side.” “Gloifur liek dat fite, dat bandet fite weel.”
