Messenger Ravens

For a 5m fee, you can send a private message to anyone of your choosing! The message will take the same amount of time to deliver as if you had to walk there yourself. This would be a form of long range communication that doesn't break lore and is not overpowered. It would also stop some unneccessary Metagaming.

Good idea, but it might be hard to implement? Now people are using /tell for everything :S There are signs and recruitment ad's in Aegis where people ask people to /tell IGN to contact someone...

Did people have cellphones or telekinetic powers in medieval? No.. :F

I've done a few courier related jobs already, so there are people willing to pay for such a thing in order to RP. It's quite a fun job I must add, but you need to know your way around!

Exactly, Simppa, but they did have messenger birds! I don't care if its pidgeons, ravens, or owls, but I'd love to see it implemented. I can see how it would be difficult to program, but I think it would be awesome. Maybe this: There is a post office in towns, you go there to the post office staff and tell them your message, they /tell the person, they get the reply, and then they wait for a while and tell you? It would have to be a trustworthy person for the staff, but it would open up new RP opportunities.

I think that would help fit /tell in. ;]

The problem with /tell currently is that it is instant, which doesn't make sense in a fantasy setting.

Hmmm, I think the developers should consider removing /tell all together to remove any incentive to meta-game. Unless of course the /tell command could have a delay depending on distance.

Some may complain that it will be hard to keep in touch with acquaintances, but we do have this wonderful forum to utilize! :D
