Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: Fyggh

How old are you?: 12

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: Pacific Standard Time/United States of America

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: I do. There are a few words that I am unable to spell, but I have excellent grammar.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: Many people consider me intelligent and talented. I enjoy reading and technology. I love to act and sing. While I may not be very athletic, I believe I make up for that in brainpower.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: Considering summer break has just begun, I should be able to devote at least four hours per day, usually more. That would add up to twenty-eight hours per week.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Roleplaying is the act of creating a character and "becoming" that character, doing what he/she would do. To me, roleplaying is a key aspect of everyday life. Depending on the situation, we may act as different people. When we are with our friends, we may joke around and misbehave. However, we may act as a completely different person when we are with our grandparents.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I used to play Dungeons and Dragons, yet the Dungeon Master was very busy, rendering play-times short if existent. I occasionally play on a roleplay World of Warcraft realm, though I haven't had much roleplay on it. I also am a trial whitelister on the Assassin's Creep roleplay server.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta-gaming is a term used to define using information that you as a person know for your character's gain. For example, if I hear that the king will die tonight in OOC chat, I cannot order many bodyguards for the king. My character has no way of knowing that the king is in danger, so if I act on my OOC knowledge, then I am meta-gaming.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Emoting is: Power-emoting (or power-gaming) is the act of making your character all-powerful inside emotes. It is also the act of controlling other characters without their consent. For example, if I am dueling with someone, *slashes down at your wrist, making you drop your sword* is power-emoting. I did not give my opponent any time to react, and I created the output of my action without their consent. If I had said *slashes down at your wrist in an attempt to disarm you*, that would be acceptable.

What do you expect this server will be like?: I expect this server to be an entertaining fantasy role-play. I believe I will encounter a kind and helpful community and a fun way to increase my roleplay experience.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I have played on the Assassin's Creep roleplay server. It is based off of the Assassin's Creed games. I haven't left it and I don't intend to for a while. I am not experienced with Minecraft server norms and I am unsure whether I am supposed to only play on one server at a time. I don't see any reason why I would be unable to do so.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: I have read, understood, and agreed to the server laws.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: I promise to abide by the rules and laws. (Why do I get the feeling that I'm clicking Agree to a Terms and Conditions page?)

How did you hear about us?: While whitelisting on the Assassin's Creep server, a couple people mentioned this server in their applications. The server sounded very interesting and so I Googled it.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: I have not previously made an application.

In-Character:

Character Name: Arastor Silvertree

What Race are you?: Elven

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): High Elf

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): "Hail, good traveler!" The elf before you stands tall and straight and stares at you with glittering green eyes. His skin is very pale and has a slight golden tinge. His hair is silver and drapes down onto his shoulders. He is wearing a green cloth jacket over a thinner brown shirt. His dark brown pants look freshly woven. Looking down at his feet, you see he is wearing tough black shoes, perfect for walking long distances. It is hard to judge his age, but you think he is at least four hundred elven years old.

"What brings you to my household?" You have come to Normandor to learn more about the elves. You took a couple wrong turns through the city and came across this elf's house. Instead of making excuses and leaving, you decide to talk to this elf and ask about his life. Perhaps he can educate you in the way of the elves.

"I was wondering if you could tell me about yourself," you say. "I'm trying to learn more about the elves."

"Ah, so you wish for knowledge, too?" he asks. "Very well. It would be good for you to hear a life story out of the mouth of a true elf. Sit down, traveler." He points to a wooden chair near the doorway. You sit down while he pulls up a chair from another room to sit in front of you.

"My name is Arastor Silvertree. I've lived in this city all four hundred and two years of my life. I am a High Elf, one of the descendants of Malin. The High Elves are the greatest of all the races. Though if you wanted to learn about the High Elves, you could just pick up a book. I've written a couple; remind me to get a copy for you when you leave."

"My parents are still alive and well. They are living together near the Haelun'or College, working as teachers there. I probably inherited my thirst for knowledge from them. I visit them from time to time, and I usually take the opportunity to take a short class."

"I am unmarried and am still undecided whether to actively search for a bride. I suppose I should just wait and see what happens. There's no shame in dying alone, in my opinion. As long as you did something worthwhile in your life, of course."

"I've never been very strong and could never compete with any Wood Elves. They could never compete with me mentally, of course."

You notice two bookshelves behind Arastor. They are overflowing with books. Most of them are about arcane energy and the like. "So, you are interested in magic? you ask.

"Ah, you have seen my collection, then." He turns around and admires his books. "Like many other High Elves, I am fascinated by magic and science. I hope to become adept at both. I currently lack the skills even though I have the knowledge."

The elf stands up and walks over to the shelves. He bends down and picks up a thick tome with loose papers inside the pages. He brings it over and sits back down.

"This is a collection of everything I've learned over the last century." He opens up the book. The papers are covered with neat, cramped handwriting. Some pages are written in incomprehensible elvish script, but most are in the common language. He flips down to a small leaf he is using as a bookmark. These pages are blank.

"I have been planning to leave Normandor for a while now. I am going to travel around Asulon in search of knowledge. There's only so much one can learn from staying in a single place."

You stand up. "Thank you for your time, Arastor Silvertree," you say.

He stands up as well. "You are welcome, traveler. I bid you farewell and a safe exploration of Malinor. Goodbye, traveler. Maehr'sae Hiylun'ehya."

What are your Character's ambitions?: "I wish to learn as much as I possibly can. I wish to become adept at magic and I wish to know everything I can about the sciences. Actually, I want to know everything and catalog all beings in Asulon. Until I am able to do so, I will have to contend myself with traveling around the world and seeing everything I can."

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): "My favorite "tool" is a book and quill due to my enjoyment of literature and writing. My parents both work at the college, and writing gives me a way to distribute my knowledge like they do." ((OOC: Until the next Minecraft release, I will use Bookworm. I may continue to use Bookworm even after books and quills are released.))

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? "I am an excellent writer. I have written a few books about history and other academic areas. My parents educated me in literature and writing from an early age, so it is a talent and a passion of mine."

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format, if you do not know how to acquire one, copy and paste this link into your browser: ( http://tinyurl.com/Lotcscreenshot ):

Other Information about your Character: "I read and write very well. I don't wish to harm any living being, which makes me a vegetarian. I also prefer not to use any animal products. When angry, I may look down upon all other races, but I try to keep my pride under control. Not because it is wrong, but because other races are usually hurt by it.I has also learned a smattering of Elvish from my parents and from my research." ((OOC: If you do not wish my character to know Elvish, that skill is unnecessary.))

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? After my trip to the Cloud Temple, I travel on the road back to Malinor. Looking around, I see untouched beauty; tall trees, a clear sky, and healthy animals. Suddenly I stop, breathing hard. Down the road are two armed warriors harassing a small halfling. Their backs are to me. I slowly back up then take off back towards the Cloud Temple. The warriors did not see me, so I should be safe.

After I arrive back at the Cloud Temple, I look around at the people. And there, sitting in a small chair, is a strong-looking human warrior. I run up to him and breathlessly tell him, "Hail, good warrior! I require help. There is a defenseless halfling on the road to Malinor getting robbed!" The warrior rises to his feet and stares at me for a moment. He places a hand on the hilt of his sword and wordlessly leaves the Cloud Temple on the road to Malinor. Breathing a sigh of relief, I sit down in his chair and pull out a book from my satchel.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? Continuing my search for knowledge, I find myself in the kingdom of Alras. Whilst exploring the city, I come across a small stall, watched over by a well dressed man. I approach the stall in hopes of getting directions to the nearest bookstore or library.

" 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" he says in a posh accent. "Hail, merchant of Alras! Do you happen to know where the nearest bookstore or library is?" I say.

"A bookstore, eh? Ye should find one right down that alleyway." He points to a cramped alleyway. A large, busy street is visible beyond it. "Thank you, good merchant. I bid you farewell," I say.

As I turn to leave, the merchant says, "Wait! If ye are lookin' for books, why don't ye examine my wares first?" He grabs a dusty tome from the floor. "See? Very rare, very rare."

I turn back to examine the book. It appears to be bound in wood. Blowing dust off the cover, I can see a faint title. Old Magic of Aegis. I take the book from the merchant's hands and flip through the pages. They appear to be written in an old elvish script. "Amazing…" I mutter. The merchant picks up on my interest and says, "It can be yours for only one hundred minas!"

Reaching into my satchel, I notice that I have very few minas. Feeling around, I bring out a small helmet I picked up on my travels. "I don't have enough money, but would you accept this helmet? It would probably get a better buyer than this dusty old book."

The merchant takes the helmet from me and turns it around. "Ye have yourself a deal, elvish friend."

I put the old tome into my satchel, reminding myself to decipher it later. "Farewell, kind merchant," I say. The merchant is too busy examining the helmet to acknowledge my departure.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Whilst searching for a rare species of flower, I come across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Curious, I try the knob on the door. It is unlocked, and the door swings open. The floorboards creak under my feet. There are a couple of tables and chairs. There is a small bed, next to an empty bookshelf. The main attraction of the hut, however, is the chest at the back of the room. I cautiously open the chest. Inside, there is a glittering sword with a golden hue, along with four iron bars. I look over the contents and realize I need none of it. I have no need for weapons or material roughly removed from the depths of Asulon. I am also wary of being branded as a their, so I close the chest and leave the hut just as I found it. Perhaps that diversion will help focus me in search of the flower.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? I hurry toward the flickering torchlight that is barely visible through the trees. My stomach growls and my food supplies are extinguished. A wolf howls to my right. I leap over a fallen branch and enter a small camp. There are a couple of humans cooking meat over the fire. They are startled as I crash through the trees. One of the humans stands up and approaches me. "Hello, elf. What brings you to this camp?" he says.

"Hail, good sir. I was out in the woods when I saw the light from your camp. I am hungry and in need of directions. Please, will you aid me?" I say.

The man scratches his chin and says, "Come, sit by the fire with us. We will gladly share some of our meat with you."

I shake my head sadly and say, "I'm afraid I will not eat meat. Do you happen to have and berries or bread?"

The man looks at me strangely and says, "Won't eat meat? Now that's something I haven't heard before. We do have some bread, but we have very little. Perhaps you will compensate us for it?"

"Hospitality should not come with a price…" I mutter under my breath. Out loud, I say, "Of course! Here…" I reach into my satchel and pull out a couple of minas. "This should be enough." I press the coins into his open palm.

"Thank you, elf! Come, our supplies are right this way." He leads me to a leather bag resting near the fire. He pulls out half of a loaf of stale bread. "Here you go!" He hands me the bread.

I examine the bread closely. It is very stale and hard. There are a couple of green, moldy spots on it. I scrape off the mold to the best of my ability and take a bite out of the bread. It is fairly disgusting, but I manage to choke it down. It relieves some of the pain in my stomach.

"Thank you, good sir. Would you allow me to rest here until morning?" My words are drowned out by the sudden howling of wolves behind me. I spin around just in time to see two white wolves bound into the camp.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: The chair I am sitting in is the best I've sat in for days. I am inside of the library in this small human town. In my hands is Old Magics of Aegis, a book I bought in Alras a couple of days ago. Suddenly, I hear the tinkling of a bell from the streets. I lean out the open window beside me to listen to the town crier.

"Bandits camping on the western road! Bandits! The town guard requires assistance! Bandits! Bandits…" The town crier's words fade until he is out of earshot.

Scratching my head, I immediately decide against going to the town guard. I've never been very adept physically, and I would only slow the guard down. I put a silk bookmark into the book and drop it into my satchel. I walk out of the library and return to the inn.

Back at the inn, I pack up my belongings and get ready to travel again. Knowing that the western road is the only one worth traveling on, I step off the street and walk into the northern forest.

Anything else you would like to say?: The Lord of the Rings is one of my favorite book series. Although this is not a strictly LoTR server, it borrows certain fictional elements founded by Tolkien. I love roleplay and I hope to soon become an active member of your community.
