Edict of Salvus

Issued and confirmed by His Imperial Majesty the Holy Emperor of Oren, Godfrey I

At the will of His Imperial Majesty the Holy Emperor Godfrey I, the Most Reverend and Right Honorable, His Eminence the Prince Archbishop James Percival Everard Hightower is hereby proclaimed His Royal Majesty James the First, by Grace of God, King of Salvus, a title to be held by him and his declared heirs in trust to the Imperial Crown of the Holy Empire of Oren for all ages.

Section I

Powers and Obligations of the King of Salvus

The King of Salvus is entrusted with the safety of the Kingdom of Salvus. The Title King of Salvus accords the holder certain powers and obligations, as declared in trust by His Imperial Majesty the Holy Emperor Godfrey I. They are as follows.

• The Duty and Power to manage the affairs of the regions entrusted to him by the Imperial Crown, in a manner consistent with the Emperor’s Peace.
  
• The Power to declare Nobility in the regions entrusted to him, in accordance with his duties as King of Salvus.
  
• The Duty to manage the revenues of the regions entrusted to him by the Imperial Crown, in a manner consistent with the Emperor’s Peace.
  
• The Power to place levies and tithes upon residents of the regions entrusted to him, in accordance with his duties as King of Salvus.
  
• The Duty to protect the regions entrusted to him from foreign invasion and civil unrest, in a manner consistent with the Emperor’s Peace.
  
• The Power to direct the forces and call the bannermen of the Kingdom of Salvus in accordance with his duties as King of Salvus.
  
• The Duty to maintain Law, Order, and Justice in the Salvus, in a manner consistent with the Emperor’s Peace.
  
• The Power to place judgement upon criminals in Salvus, in accordance with his duties as King of Salvus.
  

Section II

Loyalty of Salvus

The King of Salvus and his Kingdom are sworn vassals of His Imperial Majesty the Holy Emperor Godfrey I of Horen. The King of Salvus shall owe unquestioning allegiance to the Holy Emperor of Oren for all ages, and shall recognize their title and authority stems from the Emperor as the sole and divinely appointed leader of all The Holy Empire.

Godfrey the First, by the Grace of God, of the Empire of Oren, of Renatus, Seventis, Hanseti and of Our other Realms and Territories Emperor, Protector of the Realm Defender of the Faith To all Lords Spiritual and Temporal and all other Our Subjects whatsoever to whom these Presents shall come Greeting.

we have desired to kindly honour you and your legitimate descendants by an eminent mark of our grace.

Therefore of our own motion, certain knowledge, mature deliberation and with good counsel, and in the plenitude of our Imperial authority and power, We have created, made and appointed you, James Percival Everard Hightower, whose kinship with Emperors is ruled in Oren, and to all and singular your natural heirs, successors and legitimate descendants of male sex to be born in perpetual succession, true Kings of the Holy Empire of Oren, and by this title, honour and dignity of Emperor we have raised and distinguished you, as by these present we create, make, appoint, raise and distinguish you, willing and by this our imperial edict valid in perpetuity ordaining firmly and expressly that you, said , James Percival Everard Hightower, and all your issue and legitimate posterity male in infinite might and shall hold, receive and obtain the name and dignity of King of the Empire henceforth for all times and be honored, called and known by it in all pronouncements written and verbal in all matters spiritual and temporal, ecclesiastical and lay, and finally that you might and shall use, enjoy, and possess, freely and without any impediment, all honors, ornaments, dignities, graces, liberties, privileges, rights, concessions, customs, preeminences and prerogatives such as our Kings of the Holy Empire of Oren use, enjoy, and possess, by right or custom.

Notwithstanding anything to the contrary even if such should exist of which in these present special and express mention should have been made, to which any and all things insofar as they are or could in any way be contrary we of our imperial authority knowingly derogate and want and declare by these present that have been sufficiently derogated; and the rights and superiorities of the Most Blessed Prince and Archbishop James, King of Salvus our dearest brother and cousin always inviolate and saved. And thus be it permitted to no man of whatever rank, status, order, condition and dignity they might be or whatever eminence they might hold, to transgress or be so bold as to dare contravene this page of our confirmation, ratification, approbation, corroboration, erection, authority, will, grace and decree. And whosoever should do so, he will find himself incurring our most serious wrath and that of the Holy Empire of Oren and the pain of one hundred of pure gold, of which half we grant to our imperial treasury and the rest to the usage of those who have suffered injury, removing any hope of relief or pardon. In witness these letters signed by our hand and our Imperial seal appended.

Given in our imperial city of Arethor, the 17th day of the first seed the year of the Lord 1548, of our reign of the Oreniens the 31st, of Seventis the 24th and of Hanseti the 5th.
