Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: KingSir

How old are you?: 15

Time-Zone/Country of Residence:GMT, Ireland

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:I have been told that I possess a lush vocabulary. That’s a yes, then.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:Prophetic, strange person. Likes cats. Dutch, friendly and cheerful, even in the worst of situations.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:My non-existent weekly schedule makes it hard to plan these things... >_< But if I had to say... about 7-14 hours.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Fun! Roleplaying is a way to break free of normal life, and live a life only known in comic books and the most obscure of video-games.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?:Randomly go in and out of it in everyday life, I guess. Otherwise Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, The Sims 3, Mass Effect 3, and any other game that lets one pick classes or traits.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is:An external factor which influences the game. A way to prevent TRUE role-playing. For example, when you know something that your character shouldn’t, yet he seems to get the magical power of acting upon it anyways. Acceptable if stuck, but it tends to ruin the whole experience. i.e. Not taking a specific road because your off-character knows that there is little there but monsters.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Emoting is:Unfair. It’s when two players keep contradicting each other needlessly during an encounter, taking actions without letting the other player react back. Unacceptable, and frustrating for both involved. i.e. "He tackled the man to the ground." "The man gets up and runs away quickly." "He catches up to the man and blocks his path." "The man gets sprinkled with fairy dust and flies over him."

What do you expect this server will be like?:Role-playing while those around me are role-playing themselves? My hands will secrete glue to stick myself to the keyboard and/or mouse!

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:I've played on Madgaming. I'm not planning on leaving it, but I'm in the mood for something different!

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:Yes, Yes, and yes. I agree.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules:My word of honour!

How did you hear about us?:Friends on MadGaming we're talking about you.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last

Application?:This is my third application. My second one is here: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/63936-kingsirs-application-volume-2/

In-Character:

Character Name: Mikhail Aleksandr Volkov.

What Race are you? (You may only be Human, Orc, Elf or Dwarf!) :Human.

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):

None.

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Growing up in the slums of Arethor was difficult for young Mikhail. Never knowing his father, he was forced to try and make a living for himself and his mother. With no skills, he quickly descended into a life of dishonesty and violence. Deep in debt, sick of a life of dishonesty, and unable to make enough money to pay loan sharks, Mikhail made a dash for freedom at the age of twelve. Shamed, with a heart full of rage, he escaped into the wilds. He met a wandering traveller, who taught him everything about medicines and toxins. Mikhail listed as an apprentice to this traveller. After many happy years, his master was taken by bandits. Full of despair and righteous fury, Mikhail took up to a life of crime once more, hunting down those who took his mentor; and his childhood.

Standing tall at 1.73 metres, I'm is a skilled Herbalist/Toxicologist, gifted with a bow. However, I have the same skill in hand-to-hand combat as a dead squid. Growing up in the wilds does wonders for your skills at survival and traversing rough terrain. I value teamwork, especially if that team includes at least one meat-shield. Distrusting magic, I tend to dislike mages, viewing them as instable, and down right insane. I view alchemy, however, as necessary, and as a friend to my methods. My life so far has scared me mentally, and I often get visions of my old mentor, leading me to my next objective. All races are equal in my opinion, although, I must admit, I am prejudiced against bears. I prefer the company of animals as opposed to people, but after studying wolves, I know the importance of teamwork.

What are your Character's ambitions?:To kill those who took my mentor and my childhood. Perhaps find my sweet mother too...

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): The world around him. (Sun to dazzle my foes, herbs for medicines, poisons for fighting, animals for company or to fight on my behalf... That sort of thing.)

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Herbalism/Toxicology, Being nice to animals.

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format, if you do not know how to acquire one, copy and paste this link into your browser: ( http://tinyurl.com/Lotcscreenshot ): http://imgur.com/QPwkb

Other Information about your Character:Likes cats. Is in touch with animals and nature. Unskilled in combat, so relies on the terrain or other external factors to get an upper hand in the inevitable fight. Prefers animals over people, but don’t let that make you think that Mikhail is a total loner!

Open-Response-Questions

Each and every question must be answered with a minimum of a single full paragraph and entirely in RP.

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

If a halfling is being harassed for money, then he must have something valuable. For all Mikhail knows these guards are living in squalor with starving families, who need all the help they can get. For all Mikhail knows the halfling is amazingly rich. Mikhail won’t interfere. He knows that people can take care of themselves. “Please! Help me!”, suddenly screams the halfling. Mikhail hesitates, but turns away and keeps moving. He has learnt that the strong survive, while the weak die off. Why help the halfling when he might not survive much longer?

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

This seems like a good chance to stock up on equipment and food. This good man may know the location of some treasure, or a bandit camp. Mikhail always acts cheerful when talking to merchants, as it keeps them talking. “I don’t suppose you’re willing to share any interesting rumours you’ve heard? Here’s some minas to loosen your tongue...” He gives the merchant a small pouch of coins. Mikhail is interested in any rumours or locations of interest this merchant might be willing to reveal. Herbs are always a welcome sight, so he tries to stock up on them as much as he can. He sells any melee weapons, except for axes, which can be used in both close-quarters and chopping trees, for fruit or wood.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

“Excellent! Civilisation! Perhaps these men have some supplies for me!” Mikhail enters the hut, but it’s empty. He notices the valuables mentioned above. He uses the iron to make tools. He is sure the owner won’t mind him staying in the hut for a while, but if he does, Mikhail will make sure to pay rent in his own little way, usually with knowledge, or an early warning in case of bandits or less friendly wildlife. He won’t bother with the sword. Gold is useless: Weak, soft, reveals your position as it glistens... He doesn’t know why gold is so valuable.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

A man of the wilderness lost? Bah! But, then again, hunting may be sparse, and the sky may block the moon, dulling Mikhail's path. Food will be useful, and he could restock on supplies while he's here. But he must keep moving in search of revenge, and fresh hunting grounds. Mikhail will thank the men for their assistance. He has no quarrel with those who help him, and in time he may repay them if he ever finds them again. “Excuse me!” Mikhail calls, “I don’t suppose you’re willing to share some supplies?” “Depends.” They reply. “How much minas ya got?” “Enough”, he mumbles with a glint in his eye. Rested and restocked, Mikhail moves on. He knows that to stay in one place too long in the wilderness is a death-trap. “Only fools and bandits use roads...” he cautions them as they prepare to leave. He warns them of the potential dangers, but he knows that they won’t heed this warning.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

Fighting isn’t Mikhail’s strong point, but he knows that this town needs to be defended. He quickly pick some herbs and smears his sparse weaponry in poison. He notices a hornet nest, and smiles an evil grin. If these curs want to slaughter us like lost sheep then they’ve another thing coming. Mikhail remembers his mentor, lost to bandits like these. His eyes well up with tears of fury and regret that he couldn’t save his master. “Where are the fools...?” he mumbles, wiping his eyes. “They’re at the north wall!” a guard screams. Mikhail makes haste. Clashing steel and piercing arrows will be stopped by thick armour, leaving nicks and scratches. But a poisoned scratch? Mikhail knows that these guards NEED him. He lets the guards soak up the damage, while Mikhail picks off the weak-armoured and the injured. He is confronted by a bandit, whos armour has been weakened and punctured over the years, grinning vicously. “Any last words!?” he bellows, raising his hammer high. Mikhail shows the bandit a jar, before smashing it to the ground. What good is armour, full of small holes and plates, against a modest army of angry hornets? The bandit drops his hammer and screams in pain. Everyone stops and turns to the stricken bandit, obscured by a cloud of stinging, winged insects. As piercing screams of agony echo across the battlefield, the remaining bandits retreat, while the guards rush back to escape the swarm. Two days later, Mikhail wakes up in an infirmary, covered in hornet stings. He smiles to himself, knowing that the town has been saved by mere insects.

Anything else you would like to say?: Please don’t make me post “KingSir’s Application, Season 2 Episode 1” in a month... ^_^’ This is my third attempt! Will Mikhail triumph over bureaucracy and into the wilds of the server? Stay tuned to find out, I suppose...

My ORQs have been edited. I hope I've done it in an acceptable manner.

I would like you to sort your Open-Response-Question's. Set it out like role play and then once you have done, you verdict will be posted.

You have 12 hours and if not sorted you will be denied.

Welcome to Asulon!

Nice, well thought application. A significant improvement since the last application you made. I like the idea of herbalist healer; loving animals and the world around him. Your definitions were good and you showed good character building skills. However I felt your ORQ's lacked a bit of effort, especially the first one as you switched tense numerous times. Remember this is role play!

Good luck in Asulon

Ben
