Uniting The Empire

*Alexander Horen walks into the Black Keep, his footsteps ringing on the cold stone, and guards standing at attention as he passes. He walks into the throne room, and orders his bodyguard to stay at in front of the line of blood, in an honor guard position.

He sits upon the throne, waiting for those he summoned to come. Letters were sent to the nobles of Oren and only the nobles. One by one as they filed in with their retinues he waited, his father coming in last

Everyone stood as he enters, Alexander surrendering the throne and sitting at the right seat. His father sits and all follow suit. He gives all a long look, then turns to Alexander "Rise and speak Alexander"

Alexander nods to his father, his face cold as always he looked at the nobles, giving each a long looks before speaking

"My fellow men of Oren. The Empire is in strife. This struggle does not come from any attacker, but from within. Every day we kill more and more of the common man. Every day do the people lose faith in us. Some of you say it is their fault, and that they are too ignorant, but you are wrong. It is our fault. We have brought this upon our own nation, in all of its glory. We let the streets go unguarded often and give no chance to many. More than once have I seen common men executed for no good reason, when a slap on the wrist is well enough.

I am going to ask something of you all. It is too late for us to seem inviting upon them. They don't trust us enough. We need to make an impression upon them. It is good to be loved and feared, but better to be feared than loved. Force them into slavery instead of killing them. Make them suffer and sit and rot forgotten in the mines or the lumber yards. Let them suffer and starve while they work.

Killing them lets them off easy, and is no punishment. If they are going to hate us, then let them fear while they are at it, and make them suffer for their wrong."

He gives a look around the room. Each word had been filled with emotion and hate, a revenge that was deep within him and a lust for power. He spoke with convincing oritation, projecting his voice and making the words fit nicely and sound right. It was obviously well rehearsed.

He stood waiting for them to reply to what he had said

Laku listens from the palace roof and laughs, almost falling off.

*Wonders how you got on the roof when the only way on even if you had rope is from the inside, and the throne room I three levels down from the roof...*

*William just stares, in shock at the words. . . He thinks to himself, "Slavery. . . Slavery?! What a monster, an absolute monster. . . Damn him, this is the very reason they wish to rebel, for us to commit such an act would be the true final push that would send all into chaos and civil war. . ." However he refuses to speak out, despite his moral convictions.*

((trust me, there are ways onto the roof from the outside, Laku knows the roofs better than the inhabitants do. Also, yeah, that was a bit rediculous with the three levels up. Lemme edit my post))

Laku listens pressed against the wall next to a window behind the throne. He doubles over with laughter at the continued foolishness of Orenians

(( Sorry for the double post but there are no windows in the throne room either ._. You would either need to be in the room or outside the throne room))

*Alyssia Elendil coughs from her spot at the very back of the room, face covered in her hair so to not be easily recognised*

"I agree to a certain point, Cousin. I do not, however, agree with slavery. It will only work for so long until the ordinary people rise up into a rebellion. There must be another way? Why does it have to be fear? Surely just showing respect for one another would work? To make people fear you soon turns to hatred. Hatred is just as likely to cause an uprising."

*Sits back down looking at the floor, ignoring all the heads now turning to look at her*

Alexander looks at this woman, staring coldly looking invincible as always, he says in a booming and resonating voice

"They have tried to rebel before, they have tried to kill us all, and they failed every time. Our defense is perfect and unshakable. It is time they learned that life is a ***** and actions have consequence. Too often do they sit idle and openly speak out against us all! They say we keep them in the dark, and I shout enough now! I will not allow my family and compatriots be brought so low by swine and filth! Our laws are ignored and we must now take action!"

He looks with cold daggers for eyes and has the image of an angel in its wrath, taking a step down, and transplendant in his shining plate, the light from the chandeliers and candles flickering making him seem all the more dangerous and wrathful

*sighs heavily and rises again raising her voice, staring into Alexander's eyes*

When we kill, lash and maim an innocent person, how are we any different to this "swine and filth"? See from their side. We are supposed to be seen as guidance for them. People who they can approach with their worries so they do not have to break the law.

Yet all we do is sit on our thrones in our castles, oblivious to the fact that they need help.

Enough is enough for them to be slandering us behind our backs. Contrary to this, enough is enough for us to be oblivious.

I have tried many times. I have been spat upon countless times, I have hung only three men. All the ones I let go ignored my mercy and continued their ignorant slandering and lies. They are not meant to handle our vision. That is why we are nobles and royalty, and they are common! If they were meant to know, would they not be where we are? Yes they would. But they are not us, and will never be

They are meant to follow and obey, no to question. They are our sheep and we are their shepards. The bannermen know this and they are perfect commoners. But the rest are not. They must be made to know, and we should stop at no length to make them know"

He stares at her, conviction in his eyes and unwavering in his belief of what should be done
