Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: NarcissaDreamer

How old are you?: 15

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: GMT-08:00/California, USA

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes. I like to write short stories and have received some awards academically for them, so I've had to pay attention in Language Arts.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I've always liked role-playing, although most of my roleplay experience isn't in Minecraft. I enjoy D&D, and have weekend sessions with my friends, who are awesome and I hang out with frequently. That means I'm on the computer more in the mornings and evenings, not so much afternoons.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: If tops my expectations, and I'm sure it will, ~3 hours per day on weekdays, less on weekends, as I have soccer and cross country.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Roleplaying is taking the mind of a character who is a seperate entity from you and emulating it within your own mind. You take the "role" of the character, hence the name, but you make decisions based on his personality and experience rather than your own.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: LOTS of D&D. Our DM always makes sure that it's more of a roleplay thing than just casual sessions, which is really, really fun.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Metagaming is taking any information learned out of character and using the knowledge in character. I'm sure this includes even minor things, such as asking someone's location without sending a bird and such.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Emoting is: Power-Emoting (I normally call it powergaming, if that's the same thing) is forcing actions on someone else through roleplay, or doing things using Minecraft mechanics rather than your character's actual physical limitations. An example would be: *Bob stabs Emily in the heart*. Something better would be: *Bob makes a quick lunge with his sword at Emily's heart*, therefore giving her a chance to react and emote back.

What do you expect this server will be like?: It seems to be the largest RP server in existence, even larger than most of the non-RP servers I've been on. Just the thought of having two hundred and fifty people on one Minecraft map, all doing roleplay... it makes me want to scream out of anticipation! Finding and deciding to apply to this server is just too awesome.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I've played on many non-RP Minecraft servers, and left most of them just due to boredom. This is my first RP server.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes, I have. Both Server and Forum.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Yes.

How did you hear about us?: Just by browsing the interwebs for roleplay servers.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: This is my first one.

In-Character:

Character Name: Cynthia Lekanos

What Race are you? (You may only be Human, Orc, Elf or Dwarf!) : Elf

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):

Undecided as of yet, I'm disputed between High and Wood elf.

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his her life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Cynthia's life started in the wilds. Her family had a snugly-sized cabin, close to water and good hunting grounds. It was a very sustainable area, but the only problem was that Cynthia had eight siblings. There were two brothers and six sisters, which of course could lead to constant bickering and arguing in the relatively small space of the cabin. While some of her sisters actively enjoyed arguing with the others, Cynthia spent most of her time outside and away from all of her siblings. She developed a great connection with the peace of the outdoors, and was extremely calm when she was alone. Eventually, when she reached her mid-teenage years, her mother decided she needed to spend more time inside learning the proper etiquette that a young lady needs.

Cynthia was strongly opposed to this, as it required spending time with her sisters, so she snuck away often to sit somewhere outside. Her mother started to realize how she was getting away, and decided to trap her inside the house with locks that only she and her husband had the keys to. Cynthia was horrified by this, but had to make do with living inside for a while. Mostly she just ignored her sisters, and she started to actively take part in her lessons when her mother taught her to read. Cynthia found reading extremely difficult, but she took it as a challenge to be conquered. Her father, however, saw that the challenge might not have been in the steep learning curve of reading.

A few days later, the father returned from a trip to the nearby town with a sack of all the normal supplies they couldn't find for themselves. But from the bottom of the bag, he took out a protected and fragile-looking package that he gave to Cynthia. She opened it to find a pair of glasses. At first she thought it was a mistake, because obviously only old people wear glasses. When her father convinced her to put them on, however, she found reading infinitely easier. Not only that, but the glasses also improved her eyesight in the outdoors as well.

When she was of age, Cynthia's father started to take her hunting. He taught her how to use a bow, and while she wasn't any sort of prodigy with it, she was able to take down game fairly well. A few years after that, when some of her sisters and both of her brothers had already left the house, she asked her parents if she could leave as well. They had no objections, and gave her food and money enough to take a carriage from the nearby town to any of the larger kingdoms. She thanked them profusely, saying her goodbyes before heading off.

((First of all- Yes, this story is pretty stereotypical. But I don't want to start my character out as some prodigy of of a skill who acts weird in some way and blah, blah, blah. And second- if I were to make a magic/villain app later on, would this stereotypical biography still stand for those? Would I be able to change it just a little bit when I put it into said apps?))

What are your Character's ambitions?: Cynthia plans to gather a collection of literature, and become financially successful. She hasn't had much experience with romance, but that aspect of her life may come into focus later on.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): Bow.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Reading, archery, and a small bit of healing and farming.

Other Information about your Character: She often talks to herself in encouragement, or even just in general. It became a habit of hers after she left home.

Open-Response-Questions

Each and every question must be answered with a minimum of a single full paragraph and entirely in RP.

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

Cynthia stops as soon as she sees the warriors. She peers over to assess the situation, her hands jittering slightly in fear. Cynthia figures out that the halfling is being robbed, and starts to walk back down the road she came from a-ways. She sits behind a tree breathing deeply, and starts to talk to herself about the bandits. "I should just run. Back to the Temple, maybe? No, that's too far.. I do have a bow, and it'd be from a distance. No! That's stupid, I don't want to kill anyone..." She sits a second more in thought before running back down the path the way she came, trying to talk herself into believing running was justified.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

Cynthia looks to the merchant, and down at his stall of items. She's weary and tired from her trip to Alras, and looks close to collapsing.

"You can..." she starts to say, then trails off.

"I can what, m'lady?" the merchant encourages her.

"You can sell me a bed."

The merchant laughs at first, then opens his arms wide in his stall.

"Now, if there was a bed to be had here, don't you think you'd notice it?"

Cynthia frowns and starts to argue with the man.

"I'm very tired from the journey here, and I was just asking! Maybe you owned an inn or something, I don't know!"

The merchant looks to his side and then back to Cynthia.

"Tell you what, m'lady, I can get you all settled down in my friend's inn over there. It's cheap, and quality for the price."

Cynthia nods, forgetting her earlier anger in her exhaustion.

"Thank you kindly, sir..." She trails off as she walks toward the inn with the merchant.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

Cynthia peers inside the chest, and is surprised to see its valuable contents. "Obviously someone was meaning to come back to these," she murmurs to herself. She stands just staring into the chest for a second before decidedly snapping it shut. "I'm sure whoever left them there still wants them," she says as she departs the hut, "and what use do I have for a sword anyway?".

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

Cynthia wanders into the camp and all but throws herself onto the ground, breathing slowly and looking up at the sky. One of the traders comes over to her, asking if she's alright.

"Yeah, yeah... just... resting my head on rocks." She lies for a moment longer before turning over, standing up, and brushing herself off. "I don't suppose you people sell food here?" The trader smiles, and points to his camp. "We sell all sorts of things. Sit by our fire first, though, it's starting to get dark." Cynthia walks over to the fire, crosses her arms, and sits down next to it. The trader follows her over and offers here some water. She accepts, sipping it slowly as she stares into the embers. More traders start to gather around the fire, and one asks her: "Are you willing to trade for food?" Cynthia points to her pack and tells them with sorrow: "I've no money, or items to trade save my bow, which I'd like to keep." The trader makes a motion as if swatting a fly from the air. "No problem, no problem at all! There's a special trade you can make, something that everyone has and it costs nothing to give." Cynthia looks at the man skeptically, but he continues. "Your story. Tell us your story, and we'll provide you with shelter and food enough to reach the next town." Cynthia lets her breath out, now sure that the traders aren't going to kill her or something. "My story... well, I was born in a smallish cabin in the woods..."

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

Cynthia hears the offer, but turns away when she hears the bandits are to be killed. "I won't partake in killing anyone, not for money. That's just wrong." She heads back to her room in the inn, thinking about whether she should leave town before the guard come marching back with the bodies, or if she should wait to make sure it is safe. "I'll just wait," she decides, "and sleep on the matter. With any luck, there'll be no trace or mention of the issue by tomorrow morning." Cynthia takes a book out of her pack to read for a while before she goes to sleep.

Anything else you would like to say?:

Whoever is reading over and judging this application, thank you for your time. I'm guessing it's a rather grinding job, and I really appreciate you reading over my ramblings with your spare time.
