Out-Of-Character Details

Minecraft Account Name: Ryski

How old are you?: 13, turning 14 in a month.

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: I live in New Zealand (NZST).

Do you have a good grip on English grammar and the English language?: Yes, it is my first and only language. I encourage others to be more aware of their grammar.

Have you had any previous experience in roleplaying?: I have played on one other roleplaying server. It wasn't a very good one and no one really went along with me when I roleplayed. I'm also a huge fan of mystical medieval stories, having read Tolkien's popular titles: Lord of the rings and The Hobbit.

Have you read and understood and agree to the rules?: Yes.

How did you hear about the Lord of the Craft?: I was looking around for good roleplay servers. The name caught my eye and I had a look. I then fell in love with the amount of work you guys have put into all the lore and content of this server.

Link any previous applications you have made to the Lord of the Craft:

Have you posted this application on Minecraft Forum? If not, post it here:http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/832121-the-lord-of-the-craft-enter-the-world-of-asulon-o-f-f-i-c-i-a-l-l-y-t-h-e-n-o-1-r-p-s-e-r-v-e-r-100-unique-gameplay/!: Yes.

Definitions

In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is: Roleplaying is the act of playing a role in which you develop your character. I believe you've got to respect other peoples roleplays and not purposefully put your character above any others. You must be realistic to the lore and its content.

In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is: Metagaming is sharing information to another person when there character has no real way of knowing it. Examples include sharing co-ordinates or telling someone how to get past something over skype.

In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is: Power gaming or power emoting, is when roleplaying you never give a chance for anyone else to do anything. An example would be two people fighting and they constantly say thing like "Warrior dodges attack because of his extraordinary speed" and "assassin throws a dagger with his amazing aim" and "Warriror dodges dagger".

Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary:

My story is frayed and burned, for I do not know the most of it. I do not know whether I am a peasants son, or a royal descendant. All I know is that they found me on a small raft, floating merrily down a stream, when I was guessed to be the age of about two. I was left with nothing. No note, no food, nothing but a beaten down rug wrapped around me. Kind people they were; the village blacksmith and his wife. They took me in and named me “Ned”. They raised me like a child of their own, in a small village far to the east of the cloud temple. My childhood consisted of learning to hunt, assisting the blacksmith and learning the local ways. I spent much of my time escaping into the forest, hunting and climbing trees. I read, and was read many tales of the lands, of which I was very interested in. When I turned eleven I started reading more in depth stories and began to be deeply interested in learning everything there is to learn about. I wished to find out more about the wonderful Elves, the hardy Dwarves and the Great Oren Empire. I wanted to sword fight, to brew potions, to mine, to climb. I became more aware to the outside world and I never stopped trying to fill my brain with everything I could. Trouble was, the local library was very small and did not contain much knowledge at all. I practically read the whole library when I turned seventeen. One thing that bugged me was that the library contained close to no knowledge on the ancient ways of magic. In fact, most people in the village didn’t even believe such things. I was so isolated that I just wanted out. I wanted to travel and see what the outside world has to offer. When I finally convinced the Blacksmith and his wife (whom I consider my parents) to let me leave, at the age of eighteen, I packed up my gear and traveled west to the great cloud temple where I wished to begin my adventures.

The warnings from the villagers about the monsters that lived in the wilds were true. Skeletons and Giant Spiders came out at night to haunt me. “Nothing I can’t handle!” I thought. But, alas! I came very close to certain death once, as a zombie almost knocked my head off! From then on, I became much more cautious, and learnt how to tackle these creatures efficiently. It was a week’s march to the temple; a long journey but most definitely worth it. As I came upon the Cloud Temple, I instantly felt at peace. Such a wonderful place it is, but soon I must leave. I must continue my journey to learn more about the amazing world of Asulon. I am a weary traveler, never really wishing to permanently settle down. I have an empty mind, ready to be filled with the many mysteries of Asulon. I wish to meet new friends, fight worthy enemies and find beautiful sites to remember. I wish all of this, but deep down I hope to find more about myself, for I do not really know who I am.

What are your characters ambitions?: To learn magic, learn to fight, learn about pretty much everything. Deep down he really wants to find out who he is.

Is there anything else you would like to say about your character: He is kind, young, modest and adventerous.

Open-Response-Questions

Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short.

Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response?

I approach the dwarf and browse his wares. As I browse what he has to offer, I ask him about himself and his tale. I wish to know how he got here and what he wants to become. We talk for long, about an hour, exchanging our stories and many adventures. When he tells me all he wants to do is make a good amount of money and buy a house, I buy a nice axe for my lumbering needs, a crate of redstone to experiment with, and some of his finest looking ale. I give him a small tip and thank him for his service.

You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do?

I approach the scene and begin to try and reason with the Orc. I ask what is going on and why he is threatening this poor dwarf. The Orc then tells me to “Get lost and mind your own business if you know what’s good for you!” I refuse and continue to try and reason with the Orc. Eventually I tell the dwarf to make a run for it and try and hold off the Orc for as long as possible. I come out with a deep cut on my wrist and a bad slash across my forehead, but the Orc eventually decides to leave after warning me to never come near him again.

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?:

I bend down and start picking up the minas, putting it into a spare bag and handing it back to him. As I approach a nearby tree and begin to carve a branch into a new walking stick, we sit down and I start a conversation. We exchange tales and talk merrily for half an hour until I finish his new walking stick. He gratefully takes it and thanks me. I ask then I ask him what I intended to before (“Which way to Malinor from here”), and he kindly tells me the direction.

Pending, awaiting necessary changes. If you have any questions feel free to send me a PM.

Your application has been...

Accepted!

A very good application with detail and skilled writing. One thing to note is that in the second ORQ the Orc would not be able to respond in perfect common tongue - they speak the Blah.

Welcome to Asulon! Please wait patiently for a GM to whitelist you.
