Definitions

In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is: Roleplaying is where you act out a scenario, or act how your character would act, think how your character would.

In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is: Meta-Gaming is when you use information from an outside source IG and use it for your interests.

Meet Bob, an n00b to LOTC. Bob and his friend Steve heard of a magical tree that gives you diamonds on the forums and decided to go and find it.

Once they did, it was not what the person said it was.

Once they asked the tree for diamonds, a hole underneath them opened up and shot them down to a secret place where all of the bad n00bs go to.

The head n00b slaver there was named Jim-Bob Surewood.

Jim-Bob was a nice evil man that made the n00bs mine obsidian with wood pickaxes, and when they broke, he shot them in the knee.

So for 10 years, they were enslaved, for a good reason. They meta-gamed , the worst type of Gaming.

In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is: Power Gaming is when you make your character un-kill-able. Power-Gaming is also when you make your character far to over-powered in the way you can kill everyone by blinking, or you shoot a rope out of your sword that ties a person hopelessly to a tree. That is power-gaming.

In-Character Details

Character Name: Alasdil

Character Race: High Elf

Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary:

200 years ago, a High Elf was born. This High Elf was born to the family called Al'ilsmir. This High Elf was Alasdir (or Alasdil later in life). His family was over-joyed at his birth, and celebrated. His family was cursed with low numbers and he was one of the 10 Al'ilsmir left. His father and Alasdil were not that close, but had love for one another. He stayed with his mother more than his father for the first 10 years of his life.

His mother Illiana was kind, thoughtful, and loved to read stories. Alasdil took after his mother in many ways, and gained her great love of nature and the hidden love of the other races. One day his mother told him of the other races, not the way his father or his other relatives would talk about them. She talked about their ups and downs, but always in a loving light. The race she talked about most kindly was the Dwarves, Humans, and the Kharajyr.

After his 20th year, training with weapons started. His grandmother was adept at the magic arts, and tried to train under her grandmother Yasla for 35 years, yet it was not meant to be. Alasdil had no interest in the magical arts. Then when his training ended, he trained under his Uncle Ulvath for swords-play for 10 years, but what he loved the most was training in the ways of the bow. His mother trained him in the ways of the bow for 45 years. At this point, his friendship with his mother could never end until his father found out about her opinions on the other races.

They fought and screamed at one another. Until Alasdir came in and stopped his father from hurting her any further. He said this and only this: "Leave her alone!" He screamed at his father. "Punish me if you must, but leave her alone!" He screamed again. His father now looked quite angry, he looked as if he was going to draw out his sword and kill his disobedient son. "You dare threaten your father..." He bellowed menacingly, "Fine, I will punish you, but it will be your banishment from this family!" He screamed.

Alasdir ran out of that building so fast, that he did not get to take everything. All he took was a bow, a sword, 50 minas and 30 arrows. As he looked back on his home, he did not expect to see his mother. His mother was at the gates, waving farewell to her son. This gave hope to Alasdir hope. Once he got far away from his city, he changed his name to Alasdil, to forsaken his High Elven family.

Alasdil did not know much about the world, and set out to learn more. He also wishes to heal the High Elven name that was scorned with so much hate, and self-centeredness.

What are your characters ambitions?: He is kind, and wishes to show that not all High Elves are self-centered. He is generous, and will give to help people, but when money is offered he will not refuse, one does need to eat!

Please provide an in-game screenshot of your skin here:

Is there anything else you would like to say about your character: He will try to negotiate out of almost every situation, but will fight when needed. He likes peace more than violence. He has blonde a rarity

Open-Response-Questions

Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short.

Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human; he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response?

"Come here, come all to Galind's gears!" Shouted the poor dwarf. Alasdil walked up to the stall, seeing that he was quite poor, and looked at what he had. "How much for this... spoon?" He asked. “How much? That will be 10 minas High Elf." He responded. "Do you not think that over-priced?" He questioned. "Nay,that is how much I got it for, and it is the only one I have." He said sadly. "Ah then, I will buy it for 10 golds." He announces as he gives the money to Galind. "Thank you High Elf!" He said with glee. "No need to thank me, just trying to help." He said as he walked off without the spoon.

You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do?

Alasdir hides in the bushes, hearing the orc and the dwarf fighting. From his frame of hearing, this is what he hears the orc yell about: "Give me the money dwarf, or you will be even shorter than before!" The orc said while holding his axe. "I'm sorry! I do not have the money! Please, PLEASE let me go!" The Dwarf cried. "Enough dwarf, you had your time, now it is time for you do die!" shouted the orc. "Gods no!" screamed the dwarf. This is when Alasdil sprang into action, quickly crippling the orc's arm with one well-aimed arrow. The orc screamed in pain as the arrow hit his left arm, thus making his rage go towards the High Elf that shot him. The orc, consumed with rage, attacked the High Elf who was hiding in the bushes. Alasdil was not ready to die, and leapt backwards, narrowly missing the orc’s axe. Alasdil gave the orc chase in the forest, making it tired and weak from loss of blood, Alasdil struck. Alasdil, who was in one of the trees, throwing stones all around the confused orc, jumped down and began to fight him. The high elf flew in from the trees, dodging the orc’s axe and quickly struck the orc’s right arm with the sword, and cut it off. The orc, too weak to fight because of blood loss, and the loss of his arm, lay their bleeding. Alasdil, one not to let someone stay in that much pain, killed him quickly by stabbing it in the chest. The orc was now dead, and the cowering Dwarf that was in the bushes, not far from the place the battle took place, looked up at his savior, and thanked him. "Thank you High Elf, thank you so much!" He said with great happiness. "No need, but here." He motioned towards the dead orc. "He might have some money that would be of use to you." The dwarf nodded and looted the orc. As Alasdil walked away, a cry of joy came from the dwarf as he was holding a crystalline stone that looked much like a large diamond. "Thank you High Elf!"

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenseless man. What does your character do?:

As he walks into Malinor, he sees a old human fall with the breaking of his staff. Alasdil comes running to his aid. "Are you alright old one?" He asked as he helped the old man get up. "Yes... Yes I think I am." He said as he looked at the broken staff with sadness. The old man sighed as he got up. "That staff was in my family for generations, and I never thought it would die today..." he wandered. Alasdil takes some money out of his pouch and gives it to the old man. "Here, this will be enough to buy a good firm staff. "Thank you High Elf." he said as he went to the market to get a new staff. Alasdil looked to the ground, to find 10 minas! "Old one, you forgot your coins!" he shouted. The old man looked back and shouted "Keep them, for it is worth as much as your kindness!" Alasdil smiled, and put the coins in his pouch.

First, I'd like to say that I was quite impressed that you managed to tune in on High Elf roleplay in your biography, something that I would like to see from all applicants. Well done.

-

However, there is only one flaw that I can see that jumps out at me. That is power-emoting. Power-emoting is what you said and more. I'd like a little more research to be put into finding out what that is. Go into Teamspeak and ask around on the LoTC server there, they will tell you. If that's not your thing you can simply Google it also.

-

Other than that just a general upgrading of formatting, although I understand that can be quite troublesome.
