Definitions In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is:Roleplaying... is the pleasureful assumption of an identity hopefully far different from your own. From this point, you fill you mind with only thoughts your "Character" would have or know about. You act as a different entity, relishing in the joy that is childhood make believe. From a five year old rolling in the dirt, pretending to be a soldier, shooting imaginary targets, to a fourty year old woman teaching her DECA students how to act like a salesperson, roleplaying is an art perfectible only by those willing to. In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is:A sin. But really, Meta-Gaming is the unfair (often) sharing information to your character from the detached creator. (read, you.) In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is: Power-gaming is the action of forcing a choice or action on another player without giving them anyway of countering with their own reactions. For example, "Johnny ties up Sally." No. Just, no. Who gets tied up with no struggling? Don't answer that, but really? In-Character Details Character Name: Vi Character Race: Wood Elf Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary: Vi was born in a forest, home to a small trove of Wood Elves. As imposed by the other elves, her nature was that of a modest child. Her parents raised her something precious, seeing as the rarity of an Elfish child was growing everyday. Forced onto her was an attitude towards danger, a hatred of it. Her parents hoped to mold her into a safety loving child, and quite succeeded, she never wandered too far from her forest, and was often found quietly reading books in the small but still comforting library in the forest. Due to her love of reading and elfish background, she has always acted shy, and her vocabulary large. Aging quickly through her first sixteen years, Vi developed a kind heart, always willing to help or take care of anything unprotected, though still cautious of her own safety. Slightly paranoid of her own safety, Vi avoided large gathering and crowds in her town, and for this reason, was branded slightly of a recluse. Vi accepted this identity, using her own time to expand her knowledge of healing, plants, and cooking. Vi did enjoy her food. A quarter through her Seventeenth year, Vi had read every book in the quaint library. Moving on, she grabbed a small pack, and wished her parents a temporary farewell, promising to visit every third year. Vi took her first steps outside the forest, cautiously placing foot after foot until she reached a road… Vi has long sandy-blonde hair, and soft blue eyes. Her dress is blue, though modest. What are your characters ambitions?: Vi wishes to find another library and quietly read, while sharing some of her knowledge with whoever she can deem friend. Please provide an in-game screenshot of your skin here: http://imgur.com/4CQ3E Is there anything else you would like to say about your character: I hope this character is far more down to Earth than my last. ^.^ Open-Response-Questions Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short. Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response? Being my first time in Arethor, I walked gently among the humans. Seeking not to draw too much attention, I slipped through back roads, looking for breaks in the wall of chatter and noise. Darting between breaks in the wall, and small stalls, a Dwarf yelled out at me. “Get ya fish ‘ere, Lass,” he muttered. I had no need for his peddled goods, but still… he looked so poor, so hungry. My stomach rumbled, the fish enticing me. I tossed a small coin purse, most likely a much too generous tip, and left, nibbling contently on the roasted salmon. I took a sharp turn, avoiding a noisy and obviously drunk crowd. It was night now, the cold air permeating my lips and dress. I shivered, heading down the road. You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do? After departing Arethor, my fish happily in my belly, I peered onto the road in front of me, a potential fight beginning. I took a step back, my nerves tensing. “What if I was hurt?” I thought. I could not fulfill my promise of return to my parents. Nerves finally grasping me, my breath quickened. I turned, taking flight from the danger. I heard howls, jeers, and cries. My eyes watered, what if someone was badly hurt, I was torn. I fell, shakily to the ground, eyes dancing. I stood up, shaking my fists. "Obey," I had yelled at myself, telling my legs to do as I wished. Moving again, the gates of Malinor came into my sight, and then, BAM! Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?: “Oh my,” I said. Startled, I rose again. "Are you o-okay," I had managed to splurt out, senses still reeling from the adrenaline within me. The old man groaned. I looked down, noticing I had spilled his coin purse. I gathered the shiny galleons, small whisps of greed pressing into my mind. I waved a hand, dismissing the cruel notions. I placed the coins into his frail hands after he had righted himself. "I am... so sorry...," I said, meandering off, slightly ashamed.
