Astraeus was inside the Viridian inn, where an uproar was caused by an ill man. He claimed himself it to be the plague and Astraeus' feeling he would die by the infection caused to him, is attempting to flee, to die in the lands he loves.

He is followed by Conscript Selving Stah, who is later joined by Mathus Ofsea. Together they attempt to stop Astraeus from fleeing, fearing he will infect all of the Oren Empire. He has been struck down with a bow by Conscript Selving Stah.

Astraeus balances his crossbow on one knee, taking aim at Conscript Selving Stah.

“I be sorry, I ave' to do this.”

Astraeus falls forward, letting the bolt fly towards Conscript Selving Stah, whom is caught in the leg with the bolt, causing him to fall to a knee.

Mathus Oftsea steps back at the sudden occurrence of bats, a very confused look on his face.

Conscript Selving Stah hoarsely speaks. “Don't go near him, he is infected.”

Mathus Ofsea turns his attention away from the bats, back to the fight.

“So then it seems you attack a lance, with no designation of your own loyalties.”

Astraeus “Leave me be, to leave these lands, an olde' man like me can not be cured. I will perish the first, but rather not to infect others.”

Conscript Selving Stah “Then stay in the bloody inn if you don't want to infect others!”

Mathus Ofsea steps forward heaving his sword high above his head, he swings it down for Astraeus' head.

Astraeus heaves forward with all the strength that is left in him, the blade catching him on the neck of his armor.

Mathus Ofsea raises his weapon again, to strike for a second time, slashing down at Astraeus face.

Astraeus rolls to the side, a chunk of his nose being cut off, unable to completely avoid the weapon.

“Leave me be, in the name of Hightower.” He cradles what is left of his nose.

Mathus Ofsea “Wait, use your crossbow!”

Conscript Selving Stah looks shocked. “Shoot him? Why not save him? This is just a small wound...He can still live!”

Mathus Oftsea “Because he has shot you! He violates the peace of his Imperial Majesty!”

Conscript Selving Stah sighs and takes out his bow.

Astraeus sobs heavily. “Oh, Ellser, Joseph, Romulus soon, so soon I can be with you all.”

Conscript Selving Stah notches his final arrow and let's out a short sigh. He firest the arrow at Astraeus' neck.

Astraeus closes his eyes and smiles, the arrow penetrating his neck, killing him on the gravel path.

Thus, Astraeus Goldner has fallen, an old man at that, hoping to be buried in the lands that he yearned to die at, the lands that he loved most. Only luck and chance may bring him there now, as the time passes.

You might ask Mathus about the event, but he would merely shrug it off saying

"Juss' another criminal I effectively took care of, nothin' to worry about."

But he knew that was very much false. It wasn't his normal "Kill a whoreson, deal with the feeling later, meditate, then pray." He had felt an abnormal amount of guilt for what had been done. Perhaps it was the innocent looking Lance, who he had ordered to finish the killing, or the old man, pleading for mercy in his death.

Mathus went up to his bunk afterwards, not muttering much to anyone about the event, only his normal conversing. He pulled an old, dry, book from his trunk, the pages yellowing and fraying terribly of age. He frowned as he flipped through it, looking at the events of the past, first his supposed brother's will, then his own feelings when he had understood his own personal grievances.

He questioned writing, wondering if he would fall to sadness and gloom yet again. "No" he thought. "This was no different than what anyone would have done." He dropped the quill, staring at the blank page, contemplating. Finally he reached a decision to himself. "Perhaps this could bring better thoughts to myself, seeing as this will be mere measure to the times of guilt. Every time I kill a man, I will simply think to this moment, and remember. Remember this feeling, and measure. None of my grievances shall be similar to this one. He nodded, putting the book back, and walking downstairs to converse with the other Roses.

Standing outside Roseus, Ellser sighs heavily at the un-use of the land. As he slowly approaches the gate, a slight bounce in his step, Ellser glances swiftly across his surroundings, spotting a bleach-white dove in the short distance.

"Just another day, I suppose I best check on that."

Sighing again, he places his finger upon the bridge of his nose. "Ay' ay.."

Once at the bird roost, Ellser gently unties the string holding the note. Rolling his shoulders, he pulls each coner of the note and holds it up to the sky.

"Dear Ellser,

I am very sorry I am unable to let you recieve this information personally, however I have not the time. I come bringing catastrophically sad news..

Astraeus Goldner is dead.

We are all very sad for his death and we hope to hold a funeral soon.

Please stay strong.

Yours sincerly,

The Tavern owner."

Ellsers once gleeful face, turns the opposite. Sulking, a tear rushes down his cheek, spiralling to the floor. "... A- Astra..eus..."
