In-Character Details

Character Name: Oswin Pawke

Character Race: Human, Northerner

Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary: Oswin is a simple man. He takes after his father when it comes to his chivalrous manner, and Oswin is a tad serious at times. Oswin is stoic, honorable, polite, calm, and usually expressionless. Despite his seemingly cold outside, he is just and fair, and sometimes loosens up when talking to others dear to him. Most of the time, Oswin also lets his duties come first before his feelings.

When Oswin was a child, his father, who was a soldier in the Holy Oren Empire's army, was precious to him. He would teach Oswin how to wield a blade and a lance, how to read and how to be a fine gentleman. Oswin would continue to hone these skills daily, his thoughts of becoming a knight flooding his dreams. Oswin's mother was also an influential figure in his life. She taught him how to be kind and considerate. She supported him, and their relationship was a close one indeed. Oswin's father retired when Oswin was a young lad, and became a farmer, but nonetheless kept teaching Oswin. Years later, however, Oswin's father took up his sword again, for money was rough, and there was a demand for mercenaries. He was hired into a small group escorting a rich merchant to some city distant from their home. All that returned home though was his armor. Oswin and his mother were torn, but they supported each other through the tough times. This event only increased Oswin's desire to make a name out of himself for his father. Oswin is now 17, and has decided to attempt to enlist. He hopes for a squire position, and prays deeply in his heart for the gods to give him the opportunity he desires.

What are your characters ambitions?: To become a Knight of the Holy Oren Empire, and to travel the realm.

Is there anything else you would like to say about your character: That I understand he's a bit older than the traditional squire age, but alas, it is minecraft, and I don't expect it too be too much of a hassle.

Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response? I would approach the poor dwarf and take a gander at his wares, complimenting his work and participate in some small talk. I would then purchase one of his wares and wish him good fortunes in his future. Perhaps we could become friends.

In RP:

Oswin: Good day to you.

Dwarf: Ah, but times are tough. Please take a look, I promise you your time will not be wasted.

Oswin: I doubt it will be. -picks up one of the dwarf's items- What is your name, sir?

(I hope that's enough, wasn't sure of what I was being asked for).

You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do? If I'm fit to do so, I would approach the two, asking for tranquility. I would introduce myself, and defend the dwarf if the orc becomes too violent. If arms are to drawn, then I would fight on my honor to protect others. Such conflict would be better avoided though.

In RP:

Orc: -pulls out blade in anger- I kill you!

Oswin: -pulls out his blade in response- I warn you, leave before things get ugly. If you dare to stay, prepare yourself! For the Holy Empire!

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?: I would immediately help the man up, asking him if he was okay. As I help the old man regain his bearings, I would then proceed to pick up his Minas and hand it to him, hopefully in a small sack or cloth I have during my trip. I then ask where the man is heading, and if he is travelling the same direction I am, then I would travel with him. If he were going another way (and if my presence in Malinor isn't necessary), I would offer to escort him to the nearest town.

Old Man: Thank you very much, young man.

Oswin: Do not worry, good sir, I am glad to help. Say, where are you travelling to?

Old Man: I am heading to Oren, to visit my niece. I'm afraid I may take a while though.

Oswin: Allow me to accompany you, then! I am [ser] Oswin, [knight/squire/recruit/citizen] of the Holy Empire. A pleasure.
