Do you have a good grip on English grammar and the English language?: I am a fairly educated person.

Have you had any previous experience in roleplaying?: I once played on a server called Roleplay Revolution, partaking in epic adventures and vicious battles for around a year. Unfortuneatly, the server's community has, for the most part, died. I am certainly savvy to roleplaying.

Have you read and understood and agree to the rules?: Yes, I understand and agree to all the regulations.

How did you hear about the Lord of the Craft?: Me and a few friends were searching for Roleplay servers due to the decline of Roleplay Revolution, and we stumbled upon this one.

Link any previous applications you have made to the Lord of the Craft: this is my first application

Have you posted this application on Minecraft Forum? If not, post it here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/832121-the-lord-of-the-craft-enter-the-world-of-asulon-o-f-f-i-c-i-a-l-l-y-t-h-e-n-o-1-r-p-s-e-r-v-e-r-100-unique-gameplay/! : gotcha.

Definitions

In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is: Different physical features, different personality, different lifestyle. Some choose to be elves from a far off land, as others choose to be sociopaths who have a taste for blood. Either way, roleplaying is a way to escape reality and let your imagination run wild.

In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is: (Sorry I missed this one) Metagaming occurs when a character uses out of game informatmion in game. The player basically breaks the wall between real life and roleplay life. For example:

Josh: Hey Brown!

Brown:How do you know my name? I never told you.

Josh saw Brown's name in the chat, an out of game resource, and used that information in game.

In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is:Power-Emoting, more commonly referred to as Power-Gaming, is when a player performs an act that other players cannot prevent. Almost as if a god, the player can dictate the exact outcome of the situation, which makes other players powerless. Example:

*Josh slices off Brown's head*

Brown: You can't do that! That's power-gaming! There was nothing I could do to prevent that!

In-Character Details

Character Name: Nero

Character Race: Halfling

Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary: Nero began his life in the small peasant town of Ager. Being the last in a line of thirteen boys, Nero always was handed the short end of the stick. His parents were very nurturing and caring, but they simply had too many children. Meals were hard to come by and Nero was always last in line to get anything. His brothers bullied him constantly, especially when they found liquor. Despite his horrible situation, Nero was still a dreamer. When he became ten years old he found a blank book and began writing about his fantasies. He often wrote stories about wonderful lands and colorful people, often being made fun of for it. His fiction could go from tales of mages in Normandor to stories of the great warriors in Kal'Urguan. His greatest dream was to become a scribe, and to document history. He did not care for the place or the circumstance, he would become a scribe. He began chronicling the events in his hometown. When a mage came into town and practiced his magic, it was documented. When a barn caught fire and two of his brothers died, it was documented. When a field of crops was killed by the snow, it was documented. When he turned seventeen, Nero's brothers stolle his book and threw it down a well. He was restrained from leaping down and getting it himself, and fled off into the countryside. With his life's work gone, Nero fled to the wilderness. He decided that his old life was gone, and he was beginning a new one as a scribe. Prepared to search to the end of the Earth and back, Nero began his journey. He concluded that he would no longer be the shy boy who sat inside writing stories, but instead become he would meet every person possible. Sailors, traders, guards, he would befriend them all. With the chance to make his dreams reality, Nero began his story in Asulon.

Nero is the ripe age of 17, with a scrawny physique and not much to offer in the knowledge department. However, he makes up what he lacks in his creativity. He loves the arts, specifically writing. Nero is very social. Being in new lands makes him wish to speak with everyone and hear what they have to say. Often straying away from battle, he is not the bravest of fighters.

What are your characters ambitions?: To became a scribe in a society, specifically a town or city.

Is there anything else you would like to say about your character: No

Open-Response-Questions

Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short.

Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response? "What's your story? You seem to come from a wealthy family? Where are you from?" said Nero as he approached the shop and looked at the merchant's wares. "Well my entire family was born in Kal'Karik. I was pampered pretty well as a kid. Why do you care for my life story again?" said the salesman. Nero ignored the question and pressed on "Kal'Kariks a nice place, isn't it?" "Real religious place. Everywhere I turned I was told about the 'God of Asulon" and so on. I never really go into that. My dad was pretty big on that kind of stuff, always telling me to be to church on time and to pray every day before I did anything. Are you going to answer my question?" said the trader. Nero shook his head and said "tell me more about your father." "Suit yourself. He was a merchant, and a good one too. It was said he could pay a single coin for something in one town and sell it for a hundred in another. Always bein frugal. Too bad my mother wasn't too into that. My mum was a singer. Absolutely stunning voice. She sang in a choir, the best I've ever heard, but when she got home, she hit the bottle hard. A woman with a drinking problem, don't see those everyday. Broke ma fathers heart. Real depressing stuff, my childhood. She'd lock herself in her room and drink until she passed out. She acted like no one knew. Whole bloody town knew. Him and my mum acted like they were the purest people in the world. Turned out mum had a thing for our neighbor. My father wasn't too happy about that bit. Soon the family fell apart and I got out of that bloody house. Been traveling ever since. I purchase things from towns south of here then bring them up. Not great but eh, it's a living. You gonna buy anything?" said the trader. Nero shrugged and bought some bread. He thanked the man for his time, and moved on.

You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do? The Orc beat his chest, bellowing into the night. "Yeah, I thought so." said the nearby dwarf. The orc glared at him and yelled "Puny dwarf, I can snap you in half like a twig! Do you honestly think that she wants you over me? I'm twice the size of you! Stupid dwarf." The smaller of the two answered with a muffled chuckle, failing to contain his laughter. The orc tilted its head, curious as to why the dwarf was laughing. "She's a dwarf! Not a freak of nature like you! Dwarves breed with other dwarves, and guess who that other dwarf is?" said the dwarf, smirking as he awaited the orc's reaction. After consuming a moment to process the situation, the orc suddenly realized what the dwarf was implying. "Don't you touch her! I'll rip your eyes out and feed them to your children! I'll pull out every hair of your beard and shove it up your nose! I'll...." the orc's train of thought was brought to a screeching halt as a small halfling approached the two men. Both glared at him as he stepped into the conversation. "Well, what's all this fuss about, eh? Heard you screaming from a mile away, couldn't help but find out what was wrong. By the way, what is wrong, exactly?" said the small, yet strangely confident human. He stood neutrally above the dwarf and below the orc. The orc and the dwarf caught each others eyes in a moment of disbelief. "Who do you think you are? We were having a legitimate conversation! What gives you the right to intrude upon us!" the dwarf spouted as little Nero simply watched him. The orc chose to ignore Nero. "Nevermind the human, this is between you and me!" shouted the orc. The dwarf slanted his eyes and boldy asked "Is that a challenge?" Nero, immediately realizing what was about to happen, jumped between the two opponents. "Stop, please! This doesn't need to happen!" Unfortuneatly for Nero, the orc chose not to ignore him this time. Nero watched as the orc's giant fist came crashing down into his face.

The next day, Nero awoke. With a throbbing head, Nero surveyed the area where he'd spent the night. Nero noticed that the dwarf was slumped groggily against a tree, facing away. He crept over to the sleeping body, nudging the dwarf to wake him. As Nero pushed him, the dwarf's helmet flopped off, revealing a blade sticking into his right ear and portruding from the left. Gasping in horror, Nero ran to the nearest town, sobbing his eyes out in a hotel room for the rest of the day.

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?: Nero looked at the man, and did what any civilized person would do. Extending an arm to his elder, Nero offered to pick the man up. His thin hands shook as he reached for Nero's hands. The old fellow eventually reached his feet, and Nero handed him his cane. The old man quietly said "There's a sucker born every second, aye?" Nero looked at the man with a confused expression before he was smacked across the face by the man's cane. "W-What was that for?" whimpered Nero as he faced the ground, blood pouring from his lips. He looked up again only to find that the stick was on a collision course straight with Nero's chest. As the stick pumelled Nero, he was thrown onto his back on the ground. The old man leaped with youthful vigor onto Nero and began mercilessly beating him. Nero attempted to retaliate, but he had no chance. The old man revealed a dagger hidden in his coat, eyeing Nero psychotically. He raised his knife into the air very threateningly, and began a downward swinging motion into Nero's neck. Nero shut his eyes as he heard the noise of metal contacting flesh. He felt blood cover his face and chest, but there was no pain. He slowly opened his eyes to find the mangled body of the elderly man. There was a hatchet planted in the man's forehead, freezing the man's demonic expression forever. A man in bulky armor stood over Nero, examining him. "Thank the maker I got here when I did. He almost got you," he said to Nero, moving the man's body off of him. "What? Who was he? Who are you? What's going on?" cried Nero, apalled by his recent experience. The man explained that he was a knight who had been tracking a murderer. The murderer seemed to act as if he needed help, then lure unexpecting victims into his reach. He had taken five lives, and Nero would have been the sixth had the bounty hunter not gotten there. Nero thanked the man graciously and abruptly left, covered in blood.
