-Biography: One evening, roughly ten years ago, my father and I were delivering a shippment of fine weapons and armor to a Human settlement. The settlement’s location was several miles away from the base of our mountain, so we brought a small company of Dwarven soldiers for protection.

As the sun was setting our group came upon the gates of the settlement, but the Humans refused us entry. Not five minutes behind us a horde of Undead approached, and the cowardly humans locked us out for fear of any Undead slipping in. We called out for them to give us shelter, but they refused. They claimed we were agents of Undead sent ahead to infiltrate.

When we realized that we would have to face the ruthless horde the company of soldiers we brought with us formed a defensive wall around my father and I. We were smiths, not soldiers, but we had plenty of strength behind our hammers. There was no time to don armor, or draw weapons. The Undead were upon us.

The battle lasted mere minutes, but it felt like ages slowly crept by. One after the other a soldier fell. As I peered to my right I saw my father perched upon a pile of pigmen, waving about his smiths hammer and an ale keg. He took a great swig from the keg, and bashed in another Undead skull with his hammer. Several times over this happened, and I had a glimmer of hope we might live. Sadly, several Undead swarmed him, taking him down. He never uttered a single scream.

A sword wound to the back of my head knocked me to the ground, the world growing dark with each passing second. The wound must have looked grave, because the Undead didn’t bother with me once I hit the ground. Even as the world grew dark I could see that we decimated enough of the Undead force for the Humans to attack. The cowards! Only after the work had been done for them did they bother to venture out of their little town and fight.

By dawn the Undead were gone; The Humans back behind their walls. As hurt as I was I mustered the strength to crawl away from the gorey scene. There was a forest not twenty yards away, so I hid beneath the low hanging branches of an Oak.

I lost conciousness after that. My first memory after the battle was of an Orc; A brave warrior as I came to know him, and an Elf Druid who’s healing abilities are what allow me to tell this tale.

While I was unconcious the Elf tended to my wound, and fed me. After I had healed and awoken the Orc gave me a bit of instruction in swordplay. Even to this day that weapon feels awkward in my hands. A hammer or an axe I say! What proper Dwarf needs a sword?!

And so I wandered with the duo for a short time, if only to see a bit of the world, and they brought me to Kal’Urguan. It is here that I hope to start anew.
