Dun_Irongut 104 Share Posted January 24, 2013 Today Would be a Fine Day... --- Back and forth the raft swayed, unwavering in its attempts to strike back at the waves surrounding it. The sail whistling in the wind, if it could be called that, perhaps questioning the sanity of the lone passenger. --- Dun stood up from his place of rest, a stone slab he called home. Spitting out the odd cactus hued green substance he had been told to chew the night before so he could finally "rest up," he walked toward his chest and began to dress for the day. Gathering the needed items in his pack: breads, pastries, meats, and odd trinkets of all sorts, he sorted and then stored each item in his pack, carefully placing it in the allocated pocket or compartment. He opened his door and strutted out into the halls, greeting passerby with a sarcastic tip of the non-existent hat he liked to gest was on his head. Today would be a fine day, he thought. --- A log here and a piece of cloth there. A loud crack and then nothing. Only the peaceful sounds of a terrifying sea and the absence of voices. --- The clan-father always told the most fantastic stories. Dun did not like to romanticize, but he was curious of this land that we were sailing to. A land of brilliant mountains and a place where he could rest and study. A land where he could once again benefit from the endless riches that hid under the soil and the bountiful ideas that were bound to spring up from the brightest minds of his era. This land would be a new begging and perhaps, a new start for his grand ambitions. It was now that he decided he must go off and find this land, too impatient to wait for his brothers and too headstrong to hire a proper ship and crew. --- Red eyes and bright lights brought the passenger to his senses. The gulls were the only comfort, his mouth full of sand and his eyelids now planted in the sand, sheltered from the beating sun. --- Dun stood up from his place of rest, a sandy blanket he did not know. Spitting out the sand and salt that had found a home in his mouth, he walked toward the sea and began to cough. Gathering what he could from the area around him: edible plants, bugs, fish, and trinkets of all sorts, he sorted and then stored each item on a piece of drift wood he managed to gather, carefully placing them wherever his arm told him. He closed and then opened his eyes once more, then strutted out onto the sand, greeting the non-existent passerby with a tip of the new hat he had fashioned himself out of what used to be a sail. Today would be a fine day, he thought. --- And so the young Dwarf waited and thought. He thought of a land he wished to visit, but could not. He would remain on this isle until he could be found... And so, he waited. Waited for the stories of his clan-father to come to fruition and the new land that was promised, to bear the fruits that it had taunted. --- OOC: I've thought long and hard about this, but I need to take a long break from LOTC. My school work is increasingly getting more heavy and I really need to focus on getting the grades I want this semester, so with that, I'm going to take a break of a couple of months to work hard. I'll be coming back, but I do appreciate all of the great stuff that you guys have done and all of the friends I've made here. This isn't really a goodbye, but I would like to thank a few people. Zezimus: Thanks for actually fixing Dwarven RP up a bit and keeping the government in order on the forums. Things are looking great so far. Hiebe: Thanks for supporting my RP and being and overall cool guy. Legit times on TS this past year. Illum Tarus: Sorry I couldn't help you kill Godfrey ;P. Gungron: You're my brother... Somewhat? In a game? LOTC? However you look at it, it's been cool hanging out with you when we do. Godfrey, Mogroka, Sultan: Thanks for the RP, hope we can continue where we started when I get back man. ElectricWizard: Hope you enjoyed the Vodka... RP... Both? Kjell: Dun is going to destroy you when I get back, don't worry. The conflict never ended, you just think it did. To everyone else that I haven't mentioned, thanks for RPing and hanging out with me, it's been fun. Hope to see you guys in a few months.
