Yes, you are free to make and end characters as you wish.

Just make sure you don't have too many characters. Having a lot of characters can make it harder for you to not meta-game between them. Keep that in mind. Make sure that the memories of each separate character stay within that character, and that you don't give one of your other characters information that they wouldn't have.

As they have all said above. You can make as many characters as you wish to play, you will just have to upload each skin and edit your character card every time you choose to play a different character. With donors you can have multiple character cards. Therefore you could just login with a different skin and hit say /card Fletcher and it would have you play with those character details.

I need to make a clarification here, althought this is completed this is for other who read this post. Anyone can make up to two character cards.

 

This is done with

/createcard [name]

 

and then editing it just as you would edit any other. Other than that, everyone is correct you may make as many characters as oyu, wish but donator get more character card the higher rank they donate for. I believe it caps off at 5 or 7 for aether.
