YouKnowItsJuno 269 Share Posted February 23, 2013 Out-Of-Character Information Please fill out the following questions as accurately as possible, and ensure the essential details are accurate. Minecraft Account Name: Juno_Ax How old are you?: 16 Time-Zone: GMT – 6:00 Have you read, understood and agreed to the rules?: Yes. What previous experience have you had in role-playing?: 3 years of roleplaying, first with forums and then in video games. I’ve probably been roleplaying on Minecraft for 6 months or more now. How did you hear about the the Lord of the Craft?: I played before for a couple weeks, but I’d like to try again. Link any applications that you have previously made for the server: I couldn’t find my previous application, but I still need to be whitelisted since the server change. Have you posted this application on the Minecraft Forum? If not, then please do so (link above): I’m posting it on the Minecraft Forum right after I post it here. Have you read the Human lore, and shall you ensure you make use of it and follow it in your biography?: Yes, though I’m not the best with lore, it’s something I learn mostly as I go. I read the main stuff and I think I understand. Definitions In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!: Role-playing: Changing your normal behaviors and thoughts and taking up the ones of another – usually a character of your own creation – in order to act out what they will say and do when they encounter people, conflict, everyday living, etc. Meta-gaming: Using out of character information and using it to your advantage by letting your character know this information that they aren’t supposed to know. For example, if you’re meeting someone for the first time, you can’t automatically know their name just because it shows up in the chat; you must wait for them to introduce themselves before you can use their name in dialogue. Power-emoting: Abusing emotes so that another character cannot react to stop your actions. You must give the other person a chance to resist or act a different way. For example, if in a fight you say you, “Swings at the man’s neck with his sword, chopping his head clean off his shoulders,” WITHOUT permission from the other person, this is considered power-emoting. If you say, however, “Attempts to swing at the man’s head with his sword,” this is better because the other person has time to either say, “The sword hits home and sends his decapitated head flying,” or, “He ducks just before the sword could make contact and tries to swipe the other man’s legs out from under him with a kick.” Excuse the little gore I used in this example. In-Character Information: Complete the following biography on your character: Full Name: Juliet Wesson Current Age: 22 Sub-race (if any): Northerner Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): Juliet grew up in Asulon, living with her mother in a small cabin in the wilderness. Her mother was extremely protective; she never let Juliet venture into the surrounding woods or even leave their small yard for that matter. The girl was always a bit headstrong though, and during the night when her mother was sleeping, she snuck out in the dark and walked the nearby roads and spoke with passers-by. Sometimes, she’d even stole her father’s old sword and went out and practiced combat on the undead creatures that sometimes lurked in the woods. Unknown to her mother, she became just a good a soldier as her father had once been for the Holy Oren Empire. Miss Wesson didn’t know why her mother was so overprotective, but she never stopped pestering her to find out why. Finally, after a long argument between mother and daughter, her mother told her that it was because her father had left them, and she didn’t want to lose her only daughter too. After that, Juliet never took her father’s sword out again. She stayed in the cabin for months, wondering why her father left them. If he hadn’t, maybe they wouldn’t have to be so secluded in the woods. After a few months of moping, Juliet snuck out for the first time in a long while and encountered many travelers on their way to docks in order to board boats. When she asked why, all ignored her, but she got a sense that things were not right and they needed to leave – now. She rushed home, roused her mother from her sleep, and started packing. Alarmed, her mother asked her what she was doing, and Juliet told her all that had happened. Her mother refused to believe her story, infuriated she had snuck out all this time. Enraged and feeling a sense of urgency, she told her mother that if she didn’t get ready to leave, she’d leave without her. Stubbornly her mother persisted, and with a heavy and conflicted heart, Juliet left the cabin in the woods, took the road she had seen so many travel, and headed for the docks. She just barely made it aboard before they started to leave. She had with her a knapsack of food and her father’s old sword on her hip (she had decided last minute to grab it before she left). She felt guilt for leaving her mother, but she tried focusing more on the opportunity a new world would provide. They seemed to sail forever, until they made it to the two islands of Kalos and Elysium. Once there, she could barely remember her mother or their cabin in the woods. It seemed more like a dream that was lost somewhere in the back of her mind, one she didn’t necessarily want to remember. One day during a storm, her father’s sword was lost overboard, and she lost the last tie to her previous life. Ambitions for the Future: To meet more people and live a happy life where she had the freedom to live however she wants. She’s pretty optimistic, and wishes to find her true calling (whatever it may be, I’m just going to let role play take her in whatever direction). Personality: Upbeat most of the time, but a little headstrong. She can be wise for her age, but sometimes her wisdom is forgotten in the heat of the moment. She is caring and strives to be a good friend (once she has some, that is). Skills: Fair at hunting, skilled enough in combat to protect herself and engage in a fight if necessary, agile (can do flips, a little free-running) *Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Blonde hair, light gray-lilac eyes, usually dressed in brown leather. Any other details you wish to share about your character: Sometimes her anger gets the best of her in stressful situations. Open-Response-Questions Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point. ____ 1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do? Answer: Juliet watched the dark man carefully. Her head was reeling. Should she call for the guards who were close by, or should she just walk away? She took deep breaths and followed the dark-clad man quietly, letting her instincts tell her what to do. Was this the right choice? She didn’t know, but she carried on, going a little faster to close the gap between them. Her heart was pounding like a drum, and she hoped he wouldn’t be able to hear it. She told herself that she could do this, that she could overtake him with the element of surprise. The dark man stopped and listened. She held her breath and kept to the shadows. He deemed everything alright, and started sneaking forward again. Juliet followed. When she was close enough, she clenched her fists, ran up behind the figure, and tried to jump on his back. He was surprised and she was able to scramble on top of him and call loudly for the guards. She could hear pounding in her ears – her own heartbeat and the sound of the boots running her direction. The man underneath her struggled and managed to push her off of him. She lay on the ground, but she tried to grab his ankle before he could start running. He stumbled and he pulled a knife out of his coat. Before he could stab her, however, the guards reached them and pinned him down. He was revealed to be an assassin trying to take the life of the Emperor. Before the main guard on duty could thank her and offer reward, Juliet was gone. 2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react? Answer: Juliet quickly retreated to the safety of the trees, hoping the bandits didn’t see her. Her mind was racing, trying to figure out what to do. She listened a little while, and judged the two bandits were thick headed and used their brawn instead of their wits. She soon formed a plan. She picked up a handful of rocks and climbed a tree on the edge of the clearing. She threw rocks at trees surrounding the clearing to rustle their leaves, which turned the bandits attention away from the elderly man. They looked around suspiciously at the trees when Juliet spoke in a loud voice, trying to sound like a man. “Let that man go before I have my archers turn you into pin cushions!” She threw a few more rocks for added effect, and prayed that the bandits were stupid enough to fall for it. With confused looks, they backed away from the old man, who stood his ground in front of his home. “Leave, NOW!” The two, scared out of their wits, ran for the hills. The old man stood looking around the clearing, wondering who his silent savior was, but eventually retired to his cottage. 3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens). Answer: The young girl walked up to the vendor and looks at what he has laid out. Her eyes rest on a dagger with an emerald laid in the hilt. Curiously, she picks it up. The vendor sees her interest and informs her that the knife has no set price and that he’s willing to haggle. Juliet looks over the dagger, contemplating. She then asked, “What price would you think would be fair for this weapon?” He starts the price at 300 Minas. She looks at him with a raised eyebrow, and says, “I wouldn’t pay one Mina for this trash.” Surprised, the vendor asked, “Why do you call it trash? This is a Dwarven blade, inlaid with one of the finest emeralds in Elysium!” She responded, “Finest emerald, huh? So Elysium has emeralds made of glass?” With that, she smashed the hilt on the side of the vendor’s stall and revealed that the ‘emerald’ had shattered.
