As the nights grew longer and colder Aerathorn at the age of 25 got lost in a storm while hunting. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do? I immediately contact the guards and tell them there is a mysterious figure around the Emperor’s palace. As I my father taught me how to wield a sword and moral codes, I draw my sword but I don’t attack the person straight away. This is a job for the guards but I will make myself available if my assistance is needed. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react? I draw my sword in the name of the justice and moral my father taught me and give the bandits a warning to stand down, leave this place to never return! If they don’t comply I will strike down with strength and fury which like they have never seen, to free the man from the shackles of fear and oppression. 3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens). Aerathorn’s iron sword was damaged in battle with the horrible undead as he wandered through the northern lands. The memories still haunt his dreams, and in the coldest of nights, he can smell the ashes his former home had been reduced to. Aerathorn, not used to the city life, stands at a distance observing the customers approaching the stall. He’s hoping to learn some insight in how a trade goes down in a place like this. Aerathorn was used to trading items or simple make what you needed from scratch, but this more advanced form of trade and currency is a new experience for him. After some time the shopkeeper takes notice to Aerathorn’s presence and observing posture. Shopkeeper: Hello there Northerner, can I interest you with something this fine morning? Aerathorn is surprised that the shopkeeper guessed he was from the north. Aerathorn: *clears his throat* Yes, uhmm, my sword is in need of repair and I was wondering if you could help me in that regard? The shopkeeper looks at Aerathorn with confused eyes. Shopkeeper: First time here I take it? Aerathorn: What gave me away? Aerathorn says with a smile on his face. Shopkeeper: Well if you were you would know that I’m not a blacksmith and I’m afraid I’m unable to help with you damaged sword. Besides, I thought you Northerner’s were used to crafting and fixing things yourselves? Aerathorn: Aye, but I’m afraid the art of blacksmithing has eluded me. Shopkeeper: How come? Didn’t your father teach you? The shopkeeper jokes. Aerathorn becomes silent, staring at the shopkeeper for a few seconds, than at the ground before he says. Aerathorn: If you can’t help me, can you point me in the direction of someone who can? Shopkeeper: Now, now, I may be unable to repair your current sword, but I am willing to offer you this at the right price. The shopkeeper opens a chest behind his stall and pulls out a steel sword. Shopkeeper: Now, this is straight from the best blacksmith in town! His steel is legendary and durable! So what do you say? For 120 minas this fine piece of craftsmanship can be yours to wield! Aerathorn takes a good look at the sword the shopkeeper now held before him and though he doesn’t have much money to spend, he is intrigued and starts to discreetly go through his pockets hoping to find enough. Aerathorn counts silently, ….103, 104, 105, and 106. He curses as he realizes he doesn’t have enough. Aerathorn: It seems that your price reaches higher than my pockets, how about 70 minas? Shopkeeper: hmm, I will be willing to lower it to 100 minas. Aerathorn: I guess the blacksmith will be willing to repair my current sword for lower price than that, so if you point me in the right direc. The shopkeeper interrupts Aerathorn. Shopkeeper: That won’t be necessary, to be a newcomer here in the capital you sure seem to have adapted the merchant trade quickly. How about 80 minas? My best and final offer. Aerathorn collects 80 minas in his hand and gives it to the shopkeeper Aerathorn: pleasure doing business with you! Shopkeeper: May it serve you well on your travels and yet hopefully, you won’t need it.
Princeton 396 Share Posted April 1, 2013 -- A tremendous first attempt to join! There are only a few small things you need to work out and you'll be good to go! In your biography, you mention that you were in Asulon and nothing about the happenings of Elysium and Kalos, and now, Anthos. I would suggest reading up on current happenings. Here is a forum regarding human role-play - http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/forum/18-human-roleplay/ Here is the human wiki page - http://www.lordofthecraft.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=Humans Everything else is quite good, I get a pretty good look at your character and his emotions. I like your definitions for metagaming, power gaming, and roleplaying. Lastly, you need to tweak your first two ORQ's. For example, in your second ORQ, you mention that you raise your blade and attempt to fight the bandits, yet you never give any detail on the fight or it's outcome. For the first one, add some simple dialogue to make the situation more vivid. The last ORQ is spot on, I love the use of thoughts, actions, and conversation. You may re-apply in 24 hours! Feel free to PM me if you require any assistance. Good luck!
