Ok so I got accepted and started playing, but I didn't get anything to start off with, people said you get a sword etc. Also where can I find shops?

In towns you can find shops.   Just look for a town, best place to start would be the Human nation and more specifically the Capital, Abresi.  As it is the most populated nation and town.

In Kal'Azgoth, the dwarven city, there are a bunch of shops. You can buy things from there, or ask people around, in whatever town you end up in.

But every town has it's shop area/district.
